After recently purchasing a home we were informed by our home owners insurance we needed to reroof…read morethe house or lose our coverage. I reached out to several roofing companies for bids before we settled on Sharp Roofing. Sharp roofing was easy to schedule with for an estimate and was fairly priced. Additionally all the staff were easy to work with, from the estimator to the scheduler, to the foreman, and the crew. The job was started and completed within the timeframe we were quoted. The job site was cleaned at the end of every day, and care was taken with landscaping. Any questions or concerns we had along the way were addressed quickly and completely. We highly recommend Sharp Roofing.

Cliff & his company were the subcontractors who installed roofing and the associated venting on a brand new home. My husband & I haven't lived here for more than two years, and mind you it was a new build, and we started experiencing leaks and had damaged dry wall at our top story. The general contractor suspected it was the work of Sharp Roofing so put us in contact with Cliff to complete the work since the roof is under warranty. Cliff and his company did an on site assessment which required a $300 deposit (one we were told would be refunded if Sharp was to not complete the work to fix the issue). Following the initial assessment, It took several phone calls and text messages (and nearly 3 weeks of waiting) to receive any updates from Cliff. When he did finally respond it was to share that the repairs needed had nothing to do with the work his company had completed in the initial build. We requested a refund of our deposit at this time, but heard crickets. The general contractor finally sent another roofing company out to look at the damage and within a day were able to perform the repairs. At this time it was confirmed that the repair was in fact due to work Cliffs company had performed. Not only are we out $300 for the deposit, but also are out several hundred dollars more because of the damage his poor job caused to our house (and not to mention the waiting and stress it has caused). All in all from start to finish, we will have been dealing with this issue for 3 months. I'd really think twice about hiring Sharp Roofing for even the smallest of jobs, or agreeing to partner with him on new builds. He is dishonest, a very poor communicator, and his company does poor quality work.

I asked him if I could hire him to put together my new pressure washer and he said he'd come over after work. Sure enough, he showed up when he said he would, and here were the first words out of his mouth: "I'm not going to take your money, I just want to help you." His name is Junior and he owns the company. He assembled my pressure washer very quickly and told me he repairs roofs, he paints, he cleans gutters, and he repairs leaks in addition to pressure-washing. It was about 5:15pm when he finished and told me he had three more jobs to do that night before he could get home to his wife and two little boys. So I'm writing this because people like Junior deserve the same kindness he offers-and I hope everyone who reads this will think of him when they need some house maintenance & repair. I hired Modern Solutions (found off Yelp) in July of 2021. I was looking to do a garage conversion…read moreproject and while interviewing several companies, Modern Solutions was the only one to see my true vision, meet my budget and have availability. I was very excited to work with them. Xavier was very friendly. Before I had even agreed to hire them, they were working. Getting architectural plans and even helping to build a shed in my backyard in their spare time, to remove all of the items in the garage. At the time, I didn't see it as fishy...now I wonder. Before signing the contract, Xavier and I had to go back and forth, at least 5 times, to make changes. Finally, when we agreed and I signed, I was to pay 33% to begin the project. Xavier was desperate for the money, so wanted me to do an instant wire transfer. For some reason my bank flagged this. So we canceled and I sent a bill payment online. This too was flagged. I went into my bank ready to question why this kept happening. First thing they asked me was...have you researched this company? Well...yes a little. Clearly not enough. Here's where I will break it down for you, so you can make your choice about whether or not you'd like to work w/ this company. 1. Prior to November of 2020, this company was called Marcus Construction & Development (I encourage you to Yelp this company and read reviews). 2. This company is licensed in Arizona. Not Washington (no idea why). 3. This company, after changing its name, had to re-apply for their license in February of 2021. 4. Check BBB. Do a simple web search for Modern Solutions Construction LLC and see what it brings up. If you see the names Malachi and/or Xavier...those two run this company and that is accurate. 5. The website they have listed here is bunk. They have no website. Look for Marcus Construction & Development's website. They have one. After the things I learned, I amicably attempted to let the company go and offer to pay for the costs accrued as of current, in good faith. In return I was given screen grabs of amounts out of their account. When I asked for a detailed invoice, I was threatened. Xavier said he'd come to my yard to take materials he'd paid for (there were none) and put my house under a lien. He also threatened an attorney. This situation is still pending. I have filed a police report and opened a claim with the WA State Attorney General to have them investigated. But I wanted to get this out there for all that are currently considering this company. You don't have to believe me, but please just do your due diligence before you hire them.
