Took my daughter and my niece for a splurge on the way home from dinner. Both employees were nice. My daughter created her own creation. She got a like-it size with chocolate ice cream, caramel sauce, and strawberries. When you make your own creation the first add-in is free. Additional add-ins cost $1.60. My niece originally was going to do chocolate with Oreo until she sampled the mint ice cream base. She ended up getting one of their signature creations, the "Mint Mint Chocolate Chocolate Chip". This was her first time, and she really enjoyed the creation. I am a big peanut butter fan, so I ordered their signature creation. It had chocolate ice cream with peanut butter cups and their peanut butter sauce. I asked for a love-it but got a like-it size instead. I didn't notice until I left with the girls and my cup was the same size as theirs. The menu can be very overwhelming, as they have their signature flavors everywhere (main sign, decals on the ice cream freezer window, on the side wall). Each area has different flavors promoted. To make this review I went to their website to see names of the signature flavors. This was so much easier (minus I did not find the name of the signature flavor I had). I would recommend, if you are going the route of a signature flavor, to pull up their flavors on-line before getting to the counter. This review is about the service that I received yesterday afternoon. I was absolutely floored at how rude the young lady behind the counter was to me. First, she had zit stickers all over her face. They were the stars. Not one or two, about 15. I was the only customer in the store at the time. She came from the back, already angry about something. I ordered the GottaHaveIt Almond Silk with eight mix-ins of chocolate shavings to go. I also asked for a side of hot fudge. She said, "So you just want a shit-ton? Just a shit-ton, right?" in a hostile tone. I responded, yes, I guess. (Her anger at being at work was almost comical ). While mixing in my shavings, she exclaimed, "Ow, f**k !" She said that the ice cream was hard and was difficult to mix. When she was done, I asked for a lid since it was to go, took about ¼ of the ice cream off the top. I said, "Aw, bummer," to which she responded "It is what it is, lady. I didn't know that you wanted a lid." I had asked for it to go but, okay. I asked her if she was having a bad day, and she indicated that yes and she didn't want to be there. I tipped her five bucks because she seemed so upset, I thought maybe it would cheer her up. She was honest and had me put it in the tip jar. I am unfortunately not the greatest writer to accurately describe just how extreme my experience was. She did a good job with my ice cream, but that girl was really angry and took it out on your customer. She was the character Naomi from the movie "Waiting." When the kid behind the counter saw us coming, he turned on his heel and walked into the back as we opened the door. Another kid was sweeping the floor by the front. He didn't acknowledge us. We looked over the menu and decided what we wanted. We waited. And waited. Then another customer came in, and a third kid, a girl, came out of the back and started helping him. The first kid wouldn't come out from the back and the sweeping kid kept sweeping. I ask the girl, "Are you closed?" She says, no that they're cleaning before closing. (It's 10:10. They close in 50 minutes.) Finally, the first kid comes out but won't address us directly, he's looking at the girl as we talk to him. We ask him for what we want, and the kid says to the other employee that they are out of the new chocolate. Then we realize that 3 of the ice cream bins are empty, and there's not any chocolate ice cream. I ask the kid "Are you out of chocolate ice cream?" And he says, um yes, they've had um shipping issues and then he leaves the counter again. At that point 3 more customers come in. The sweeping kid is still sweeping. It gets really weird bc the girl rings up the guy that came in after us, and then skips us, and asks the next set of customers what they want. I say loudly "what's going on?" No one answers. I go over to the sweeping kid and ask him, "how does this work? Only one person works at a time?" And he says, no, um, we're PRE-closing. And I ask, "why won't anyone wait on us?" And the sweeper says, he was waiting for you to decide what you want. But the sweeper did set the broom against the wall and he went around the counter, put on an apron and took our order. Turns out we ordered the exact same thing we did before, but with vanilla ice cream! It didn't take us more than a moment to make that adjustment. The first kid came out and whispered with the 2 employees and glared at us. After the girl rang us up, we grabbed our cups off the counter, mine was dripping bc it had a waffle cup and no lid. I needed a spoon. I saw an empty black container in the counter. The sweeper was helping the next customers and the other two were standing back from the counter whispering. I cupped my hands around my mouth and called to them, "I need a spoon!" The girl pointed at another black container that had so few spoons in it, they had slid down so you couldn't see them. Hoping you don't get any customers for 50 freaking minutes before closing and then acting like jerks bc people come in is so stupid and lame. Pretending you don't have chocolate ice cream bc you put it away 50 minutes before closing is offensive, but it also means you suck as an employee and, maybe as a person. What kind of person is shitty to people ordering hot fudge sundaes? Ice cream is usually a fun experience. How hard is this job? read more

Yikes! I haven't been to Cold Stone for a while as in my city there's not many locations. For an ice cream that's called "Oreo overload," oreo underload is more like it. I get that they had a lot of trainees, but for an $8 ice cream I'd hope that they can make it right. The manager had to correct the employee before he gave it to us (he only filled about half the cup) but it was still underwhelming. Very little Oreo pieces inside. This place is really great! I love the ice cream here and the add in are perfect. I have been eating at this chain for over 15 years starting in St Louis, Mo. The only issue I have is two fold they have become way more expensive in comparison to other ice cream shops and they don't always follow directions left on door dash orders. I often don't get what I request. I paid $26 dollars not including delivery on last order for a tub of ice cream. I do understand cost have gone up but this limits how often I will consider this place. read more

I've been to this location once before and tried to go right now at but I called just in case to make sure they were open (hrs said open until 12am) and the man said they close their doors at 11:45. If your hours online say open till 12am shouldn't you stay open until then? Not 15 mins before.. The time I went though was terrible there was a lady working there that was so rude. I was asking her about the Ice cream cartons you can take home and asking her if she could open it so I could see if any ones messed with the ice cream (like seen online some people open ice creams and lick them or put their fingers in it then close it and put it back) she said to me if you open it you're buying it and I'm not giving you your money back even if somethings wrong with it. Like Wth? Most of the cartons were messed up too like one was half way open others looked like they were dropped so I had every right to want to look at it.. Complained on their site, I then got a call from Lisa Gies stating that she did a good job training the manager from this store who happens to be the one that prepared my ice cream. I really do like ice cream and have been known to eat an entire pint in one sitting - recently did just that while watching PBS's new version of Emma... but I'm already getting off topic. I really do like the whole idea of getting any flavor of ice cream and whatever topping you want mixed in. It's a great idea since all of us have wanted to do just that. I particularly like walnuts, oreo cookies, and mint chocolate mixed into coffee ice cream. Nobody else may appreciate this but no one else has to! Especially on a date when you don't want to share your ice cream, what better way then to order coffee ice cream when you know your boyfriend doesn't like it... maybe that's why we didn't make it as a couple... I would have given this Cold Stone four stars but I hate the parking situation here. It is right next to a Subway and Blockbuster and the parking is horrendous. I would understand this situation if it was SF but this is Tucson! Give us a couple more feet so we can back out! It is right next to the university which is nice - a quick dessert between experiments in lab. I always find it hard to review big chains like Cold Stone or others like Starbucks. I mean, if you've been to one you've been to the others.
