It was a hot summer day and I decided I wasn't making dinner. My husband and I decided we would make our kids day and have ice cream for dinner. We came on a Saturday early evening and no one else was there. My kids loved to see the ice cream display case and made their picks. We got them each a like it of their ice cream of choice while my husband and I each got one with a couple of mix ins. The staff was great at humoring us and our kids and they were quick to get our ice cream to them. We ate at a table inside since it was just too hot to be outside. The tables in there are pretty cramped and the chairs were incredibly uncomfortable. You can't really sit back because the curve of the back of the chairs comes around the side so unless you are super small it digs right into you. I am chunky but not more than average and I hated it. I couldn't wait to get out of the chairs. It has been a while since I have been to a cold stone and I was surprised by the price, even with prices of everything going up. We spent over $30 on our 4 ice creams, and I can say it wasn't worth the money. We all ate our ice cream because, well, its ice cream but my husband and I left saying we wished we went somewhere else. WASTE OF MONEY! I went here with my kids for the promotional Shark Week ice cream and everything seemed normal. However, when we took our first bite, Coldstone took the idea of Shark Week too seriously and thought that it was okay to literally sell sea water icecream. It was so salty that my wife, kids, and I could not even finish a quarter of it before throwing it away. It was such a mistake for us to all order the promotional item. I really like ice cream and especially like when ice cream is mixed with bits of some of my favorite candy bars. So, when I learned from the menu that they were doing that here, I was in with some rich chocolate ice cream mixed with peanut butter cups. I was surprise to learn that they mixed the ice cream and candy bar right Johnny on the spot. I did not know that. I watched when the young girl mixed it, but I thought she mixed to much because the peanut butter cup melted into the chocolate and almost became one. I would of rather had chunks of peanut butter cups mixed in, but individual pieces. That being said, the chocolate ice was rich in chocolate flavor and creamy. Appalling waste of food at this place. I go got a chocolate shake and the woman with the glasses and blonde ponytail who made it put a huge portion of ice cream and milk in for a single shake, mixed it, then poured it out. I asked one of the employees if I could just take the extra in the mixer since it was LITERALLY GOING TO BE WASHED DOWN THE SINK, and the guy is nice enough to do so. Coldstone definitely has a some really good and creamy ice cream. For me personally the creations can get rather expensive and have entirely way too much toppings added in but that is nothing against them its just my preference. Luckily they have options where you can choose your flavor with an add in so I feel catered to. Everything is fresh from ice cream to cakes to ingredients. I only gave it 3 * for a few reasons. For starters I think this location is too busy. That's a sign that their product is good and they are popular, true. But the location is small so when the line is long you are usually outside. Which if you know Santee can be unbearable when it's hot and you want to cool down with ice cream. They need a bigger location with more employees Speaking of employees most are in or just out of high school. This makes most of their work ethic and feeling of responsibility in the workplace pretty terrible. When they get busy, which is often, customer service goes out the window. I love that they put a Coldstone at the Santee Town Center! Everyone knows and loves the business for their hand scooped, hand mixed, custom confectionary concoctions, created at your request. This time around, I got ice cream, but in a different form. I am a fan of ice cream sandwiches of any kind. I actually was instructed to go inside and get an ice cream cake or some ice cream cupcakes. Well, the helpful gal behind the counter easily talked me into cake batter sprinkle ice cream cookie sandwiches, which cost less money than the cake would have and were absolutely delicious! We went back tonight, 7/10, we saw two staff working and both were in the front waiting for customers. They both welcomed my boyfriend and I. Both ladies very helpful and polite.
