This location has been my go to for year- graduations, retirements, milestone birthdays, etc. Just called today to place an order for my son's birthday, a basic cake with his name on it. No fondant, no printed image, just frosting and script. The party is this weekend and I've always ordered week of, no issue. When I called the woman who answered the phone was very rude and just kept repeating "We only take orders 3 weeks out. We only take orders 3 weeks out. We only take orders 3 weeks out." Literally over and over. I totally understand their policy may have recently changed- but say that to me instead of repeating yourself over and over while I'm trying to speak. Again, I totally understand that policies change but at least acknowledge that it's changed. I've ordered week of many times. A simple, "Oh no! We're totally booked this weekend." or "You know what, our policy has recently changed due to high demand." would've had me coming back in the future. Hurry, quick! I need a bakery! That was me a couple of weeks ago, looking for a bakery close by with good reviews. I found Eccentric International Chefs on Yelp, and I thought to myself, "What sort of name is that?". I mean, I appreciate eccentricity, so I figured I would give the international chefs a try. I visited on a Saturday morning, pretty early at about 7, and I met the owner, Chef Carl. I told him it was my first time there and he pointed out some goodies(pastries and cookies) that he had out for sale. They do a lot of cake here, but they also have some pretty darn good pastries. I knew what I wanted because I`m a Yelp stalker and I know ahead of time what looks good to me. I chose a filled horn, a chocolate éclair, and two of their cake/cream/jam parfaits. The shop is clean, the cakes on display creative and interesting, and I found Chef Carl to be an absolute delight. He is nice to chat with, friendly, and takes pride in his business. I also heard him answer a phone call from his wife and it was adorable. *heart eyes* Pricing is fair for the quality. The horn and éclair were delicious, learning towards the éclair being my favorite of the two. I like that the cream wasn't too sweet. It was all balanced very nicely. NOW, let me tell you about these parfaits. I had never had a cake parfait and I am a convert now from regular parfaits and regular cake. Why have either of those when you can have it all, in a cup, with a lid, to go. I dug in right when I got home because the parfaits looked very enticing. SO good. Moist(I hate that word) cake, delicious not too sweet cream, and the jam(I`m sorry if it is called something else. I am but a humble dessert consumer). My family and I have been patrons of this bakery for about five years, but after today's experience, I will most likely not be returning. I submitted (what I thought) was a detailed email outlining my cake design request. What I received was a cake with the correct quote and color, but incorrect border. When I pointed this out, I was offered no apology. When I asked if the cake could be redone and how long it would take, I was told, "I don't know." This made it difficult to plan around a same-day birthday party pickup. I requested a discount for the mistake and was reminded that the cake cost $45. As I was advocating for a solution and entertaining the idea of having them redecorate it, I was told another client's cake they were currently working on would need to be refrigerated, which came across as if I were inconveniencing staff for their bakery's mistake. I asked again how long the correction would take and received the same "I don't know." After requesting a discount a second time, I was given $2 off. My concern is not the price or even that the design was incorrect, but the lack of care and professionalism shown when the issue was raised. I hope this business improves its customer service when addressing mistakes moving forward. read more

From a faded photo, they were able to re-create our original cake in a smaller version, plus made a sheet cake for ease of serving. We hired this company at the suggestion of Carlton Oaks when we were planning our April 2020 wedding. Covid happened, and this bakery refused to work with me (a woman) to get a refund for the cake as we couldn't even hold the reception per State mandate. They refunded our cost once my husband got on the phone numerous calls/emails later. Flash Forward to 2025 - we are throwing a 5 year party next month. I contacted them letting them know we lost the gift card in a cross country move in May 2020 but would like to receive the cake we already paid for. I provided email backup and other receipts showing that they acknowledged the refund to a card. Since I cannot physically find the long lost card - and they admit they did issue it but can't look up the card to see if it's used... we're out our money. We live in North Carolina now we have NOT used the card and they should be able to see that in their POS system... but they ghosted us. Shady business practices from the moment we dealt with them and just wanted to use our money but they will not make it right. Sad. read more

Ok. Decent price begets a decent job. Certainly not 4 or 5 star worthy however. Good: service was patient and kind. I was able to email a pic of a cake i wanted and they replicated it. Not so good: the cake itself was ok...but the strawberry/whipped filling was very seriously lacking in the strawberry department which resulted in a very bland cake. There were lazy efforts in the finishing of the fondant and icing- the bow on top was adhered to the cake in a messy way and the icing around the name plate was messed up and could have been fixed but they didnt bother. Also there were some details in the cake I requested that they left off without warning. Cheap cake served the purpose and wasnt bad. read more

Carl and Molina are top notch when it comes to custom cakes and flavors. We did a custom cake for my daughter's 10th birthday. They did a marble cake with a chocolate mousse that did not disappoint. I wouldn't give this place a single star if I could. EXTREMELY dissatisfied. We had our wedding at the Bernardo Heights Country Club and this was the cake vendor that was included with our package. We ordered an all white and beige/ champagne colored cake and the cake was delivered to our venue bright PINK. Our coordinator was unaware of the cake we ordered so we didn't see the cake until the reception and we're so incredibly disappointed we didn't even do a cake cutting because we were embarrassed our cake was pink in our all beige and navy blue wedding. They refunded what we had paid for the delivery (not to mention the cake had melted half way by the time of the reception and our coordinator was told it did not need to go in the fridge), however our small refund was not enough for delivering a COMPLETELY unacceptable cake that ruined part of our wedding.
