This review isn't really about the cake itself, although it was absolutely delicious. It's about the incredible service I received at around 9:30 PM on a Wednesday, when the staff had clearly had a long day and the store was just about to close. Cold Stone Creamery happened to be the only place still open until 10 PM, and I urgently needed a cake with a candle. It genuinely felt like a make-or-break moment. Not only did I get the cake and the candle, but the employee helping me asked what the occasion was. After hearing the story, he offered to add a custom message to the cake, even though I hadn't asked for it. That small gesture meant so much and made the person receiving the cake incredibly happy. It was the kind of service that absolutely deserved a great tip. Thank you for going above and beyond. Unfortunately, I don't know the employee's name, but he was working the evening shift on June 23, 2026, and was a tall guy. I truly hope the managers recognize and appreciate employees like him, they make all the difference. read more

This is the second time this has happened, so I felt like I had to leave a review. Every time I've come to this location, my ice cream has been served melted and watery. This visit was especially disappointing because I was really looking forward to it as a pregnancy craving, only to be handed a cup of soupy ice cream. What made it even more frustrating is that it was the same employee who helped me the last time this happened. After two bad experiences, I've learned my lesson and won't be coming back. I hope the store pays more attention to the quality of the ice cream before serving it to customers. read more

The Pleasant Hill location is probably our favorite location in the surrounding area. Although majority of their employees are younger, they still provide great customer service and the ice-cream is delicious. Even if you see a line, they move fairly quickly and there are seats outside to enjoy your dessert of choice. Our family picks are - Chocolate with gummy bears for the kiddo, Cake batter ice-cream with cookie dough, oreo cookie, and pecans (I think she might put caramel, not 100% sure), and for me - Germanchökolätekäke! Cold Stone Used to Be Great, But It's Going Downhill Fast This location has been going downhill for at least a year, and it's sad to see a once-loved spot ruin itself with what seems like short-sighted cost-cutting at the expense of customers and staff. 1. Smaller Portions, Higher Prices: You're now paying more for less, and the portion sizes have shrunk to the point where it feels like a rip-off. Cold Stone used to be generous, now it feels like they're rationing every scoop. 2. Poorly Trained Staff: It's clear they're hiring inexperienced workers, likely because they don't pay well and don't treat staff right, leading to constant turnover. The result? You get slow service, confused employees, and orders that aren't even made correctly. 3. Customer Experience Has Tanked: Employees seem miserable, which makes the whole atmosphere uncomfortable. There's no energy, no care in making the ice cream, and no effort to actually serve customers well. 4. Management Doesn't Seem to Care: Whoever is running things clearly thinks cutting costs on quality, service, and staffing is a smart business move, but all they're doing is pushing away loyal customers. I'm not sure why the bad reviews.. I love ColdStone. There's only been one instance where I had a bad experience but this place was fine! I usually get the cheesecake fantasy or the banana caramel crunch. This time I decided to try the apple a la cold stone. It wasn't my favorite flavor so I don't think I'd get it again because I wasn't a fan of the apple filling. I think I'd go back to the banana caramel crunch! The workers here were very friendly but it was a pretty busy evening so they were quiet and working fast and hard. It was a grab and go kind of situation! Honestly no complaints here! There's plenty of parking and there's also a bunch of other restaurants around the area and shopping stores. It's in a great location to kill time! read more

Wow, quite surprised with the low reviews. I wouldn't have expected it, but thankful to say my experience was good. We went in on Sunday after dinner in the area and there were 3 parties ahead of us, though the line did start to grow. The employee who helped us was a blonde woman, super nice. We ordered one of the limited edition fall combos, they were out of the apple filling, but offered to substitute it for something else. I had a birthday BOGO rewards, but the cashier said the rewards system was down, which wasn't a big problem. Been a coming here for a long time and never really had issues. I've heard they have had issues in the past but I've never had a bad personal experience. They staff maybe could be friendlier but they aren't rude. They aren't always helpful even if the line is very long. The Ice cream is always delicious and the waffle cones and bowls have been one of my favorite things about Cold stone. I will always come here and enjoy the tasty Ice cream. read more

Walked in to this location to buy a large birthday cake. I was told they couldn't write happy birthday on the cake, I asked why and she said because she didn't have the things out and they were busy. I said I could come back, and she said they still couldn't. Just absolutely terrible customer service. Closed an hour early? We waited in the front for a couple of mins while employees were yelling and laughing in the back. They finally acknowledged us after I repeated to yell "hello". The girl working then saying "Shit you scared me".. Really?? The rest of the employees looked high then said to us that they thought we were going to rob them. Terrible place. Trash pothead kids. This place is horrible. Ordered chocolate ice cream and got coffee ice cream instead. Ordered a large cup and got 2 half filled small cups which was obviously less than the large cups and again chocolate tasted like coffee mixed into it. Complained and got a refund, but this place has some garbage staff working there at the moment this isn't the first botched order which I've let slide, but 4th time. Beware and if you do happen to go make sure you taste test it while you're there because the incompetence of the workers are horrendous. Severe cross contamination issues. 4/27/2024 if a manager wishes to check staffing issues. read more

The rating: Three an a half stars for the both the delicious Signature Creations and the ability to make my own hot mess of a sundae regardless of how ridiculous it turns out. I just wish it were a little more reasonably priced. Why I chose to eat here: Come on now, it's ice cream, eventually we all end up at Cold Stone at some point right? The food: The ice cream is good, but not on par with say, Christina's in Cambridge. I don't feel like you could get a dish of just plain ice cream regardless of flavor and enjoy it as you would at some other ice cream parlors. But that isn't really the point of Cold Stone. The ice cream acts as more of a vessel, a backdrop to the mix-ins that are either preselected in a Signature Creation, or chosen by you and your own imagination. That doesn't make it bad, only different, and different in a very good way. Personally, after trying my hand as a sundae creator a few times to less than stellar results, I've taken to letting Cold Stone tell me what is good, and have yet to be disappointed. My two favorites are the Founders Favorite (great minds think alike), and my new love, That's How I Roll, Ms. Sarah-pants tends to be an Oreo Overload girl. But my opinions of ice cream combos mean little if you love coffee ice cream, or just have to have strawberries in your sundae. But that is what is so great, no matter what you like, you can make it happen at Cold Stone. I do however recommend you try the waffle bowl, and that you crunch it all up into your sundae right from the start. The crunchy texture always plays well from my experience. The service: Usually adequate, sometimes better, sometimes worse, but i take it for what it is, a chain of ice cream parlors usually run by teenagers, so I don't expect white glove treatment. Sometimes the tables are clean, sometime you may be grabbing a napkin to wipe it down yourself. Once in a blue moon you will get a song when you give them a tip, but this seems to be a dying trend in Cold Stones world. The prices however, are always high. Fifteen dollars of two medium creations is steep any way you slice it. The final rundown: As I said, we all end up at Cold Stone at some point, and thought the price of admission can be high, there are a lot worse places to be than the imaginorium of ice cream. For the record my wife totally thinks the rating should be higher, four, maybe even five stars...maybe she should start writing some reviews. read more

Not only do you have a good product but your customer service is above and beyond and I do appreciate that. You made my first experience there an excellent one. We went on a Sunday. It was quite crowded and seating inside is very limited. My guess is that this store stays stays busy when open. Most purchases here are orders to go. Flavors vary by day and I was told they make their own product. I truly do believe them when they say they make their ice cream. Banana tasted like the real thing only colder. I added big pieces of walnuts that really made it pop in taste. The mint was very refreshing with a natural mint flavor. Nothing tasted at all artificial here. Oreo was like eating an Oreo cookie dipped in rich, whole milk. The ice cream is dense, rich, and creamy in the way that only high quality milk fat can yield. The flavors are robust and true to their names. What stands out to me as much as the amazing ice cream is the customer service. When I ordered the butter cream, the container was getting near the end. The lady serving me asked me to taste it first because she didn't want it to have that icy rough texture that ice cream can get in a near empty container. I assured her it was more than good. When there wasn't enough butter cream to fill my cup to the top she asked me if I would like to choose another flavor to top it off so I could have a full serving. It is this type of considerate service that means a lot to me. All employees were so friendly even with the crowd keeping them busy. The wait wasn't very long because they know what they are doing and can serve people fast. Cold stone serves other concoctions such as banana splits, milkshakes and malts. Portions are plentiful as well as pleasing. This place is a definite return for me. With all these delightful and hand made flavors to try there is no way I won't be back. read more

...my heart aches just thinking about all the joyful, delicious ice cream combinations I missed out..being as obsessed with ice cream as I am, this place is definitely high on the list should I ever return. Slightly unrelated, but this unassuming little ice cream shop makes me nostalgic for Cafe Crema back in the Twin Cities. Ah, memories. Anyways, back in the present, Cold Stone is, as previously mentioned, a pleasantly small ice cream shop in Pleasant hill. Because it was the end of a long day, I was tired and not thinking clearly, and ended up ordering just a bowl of straight vanillaa, which was much better than any storebought variety I've tried in the past. Should I return in the future, I'd definitely experiment with more toppings and flavors. The service is slightly nervewracking, in a good way. Even though it wasn't super busy on the evening we dropped in, the guys behind the counter looked a little put off by seeing us but constructed our orders and cashed us out without incident. I can imagine it'd be wise, during a more crowded time, to know exactly what you want and not stand around being perplexed by the menu like we were. I get the feeling both the employees and the customers don't like to put up with people wasting their time. Which makes sense. Anyways, it's a unique little place but I loved it. The ice cream was fantastic, the portions were VERY generous (they pack the ice cream into your selected bowl or cone quite densely) and the prices can't be argued with. If I could give this location 0 stars I would. The experience I just had here was disturbing. The girl up front, I believe her name was Julia, was running around dramatically and frantically to take people's orders because she was the only one up front. Multiple other guests told her to clam down because she was so frantic, acting like she just ran a mile and breathing heavily, almost yelling "what do you want!?!". Someone asked if she was working alone that night, and she proceeded to complain and yell very loudly to everyone in the store that the management "screwed her over" and that they are always purposely "screwing her over"... yes, in front of children too. She continued to complain to guests how they locked them out of the safe by changing the locks, and how the girl that left her alone to go on her break "screwed herself" because she's going on her break too when she gets back. I have the whole experience recorded on video, and would like to send it to the management, if they contact me. She was so frantic that she did not clean any of her supplies, and my ice cream had lots of other weird flavors mixed in and chocolate chips from the guest before me. It was disgusting, I took a few bites and threw it away. I never want to come back after this. I have sent a personal message to the corporate office. read more

I have been waiiiting so patiently for the right day to come. Finally my brother was coming to visit and I had an excuse to try it out! Parking: shopping plaza. Ambiance & Seating: Its a cozy ice cream shop, it seems a little dated but that didn't bother me. There was t seating and a friendly staff when we walked through the door. Service: We eagerly read all the names of the ice cream and after gasping at each one we were so confused! The lady behind the counter was so friendly and sweet and offered for us to sample as many as we liked. We sampled so many, but we all knew what we wanted from the start! What we ordered: I ordered: chocolate shake My husband ordered the coconut macadamia and the coffe ice cream My brother ordered mmmmmmint chip What you SHOULD order Anything and everything! The staff was so helpful and the ice cream flavors were not overly rich but creamy and delicious. On the scale of 1 being lame ice cream that tastes like water and milk and 10 being the best ice cream, this is up there at a 8. We would definitely go back. Called the entire day to inquire about cake prices and not one person picked up the phone. I even left a message and no one ever called me back and it's been over a month now. We then went in the day after we tried to call all day to inquire about their ice cream cake and sure enough when we were inside we could hear their phone ringing and not one employee bother to answer it. Their tables were dirty and no one bothers to clean the tables. They had 3 visible employees and only one person is making the ice cream while the other 2 was just walking around back and forth from their back room laughing. Finally one employee came out to help 2 people and shortly after disappear again. We waited more than 40 mins for our turn and I would say that I will never go there again. After reading other's negative experiences too about how they preordered cake and they wouldn't open in time to pick up their order because they were short staff. I will never preorder here just for the fear that I wouldn't be able to get my cake for any special occasions. Highly unacceptable! read more

Thanks to yelp, I've found this amazing place! After dinner at Jacks, my boyfriend and I were craving for some sweet and I told him last time when we ate at Jacks, i saw the yelp reviews for Cold Stone Ice Cream, but we didn't go try it out. And so on the cold Saturday evening, we walked from Jacks to cold stone Ice Cream, which was around back. There were only a few customers at that time, it was easy to ask for a sample of the flavors we wanted to try. The employees were very nice and patient with us while we each tried two samples. We proceed to get a single size cup for each of us. My boyfriend got the Rasberry sorbet flavor and I got the Cookies and cream Creation. And oh my dear, I'm totally hooked onto oreo ice cream now!!! The flavor is so rich and creamy. I was able to finish the whole cup by myself(usually my boyfriend have to be my trashcan and finish it for me). My overall experience was great. I will definitely make trips to this place especially if I'm going to eat at Jacks! read more

I came here with my dad and brother after we went shopping and ate at the Corner Stone Cafe. I got a scoop of cookies and cream ice cream, while my dad and brother got more complicated, waffle cone, multiple scoop combinations. It was a little pricey for ice cream- I think that the 3 us totaled about $15. It did smell really good in there, like another Yelper said. The staff was very friendly and we got our order pretty quickly. It was fun to walk around the store and look at all the different kinds of candy they have available. I'm not a big candy person, but if I ever need any, I will most likely come here. The decor was more of an old fashioned style, with metal white chairs and tables and a checkered tile floor (I believe so, anyway). I would certainly recommend This Cold Stone after a long day of shopping- ice cream always seems to rejuvenate the soul! read more

The price I paid for ice cream here could have bought me a decent lunch elsewhere, but you won't catch me complaining. That delicious Birthday Cake Remix in a chocolate-dipped, sprinkle-covered waffle cone bowl was the best lunch I've had in a long time. This location is right next to the movie theater and it's the perfect pre- or post-movie treat (or both!). Coldstone's ice cream concoctions are unlike anything I've ever tasted, and they're incredibly sweet (even by ice cream standards), so be ready. The aforementioned Birthday Cake Remix is a must-try. And since you're already splurging (you're at Coldstone Creamery, after all), you might as well get it in a ginormous waffle bowl like I did. Everyone knows that "stressed" backwards spells "desserts" (and if you didn't know, now you know!) so whenever I was stressed, my bf would take me to this Cold stone. I would usually get the Birthday Cake Remix because if I think it's my birthday, I wouldn't be stressed anymore...and it works! Everything about this place is great; from the staff to the ice cream and everything in between. At first, I thought their frozen Sorbet was way too sweet. I pondered how that could even be possible, which in its own right is pretty sweet already. Well, their Sorbet it good. The strawberry has an amazing mouth-feel. I was told that fruit tends improve better texture to Sorbet. My best combination was frozen strawberry Sorbet. I.......come here a lot. Upon each visit, I usually get 1-2 ice cream cakes, but sometimes I get 3. Each time I get some kind of writing on the cakes. You see, I am charged with getting birthday treats for my office, so you can imagine that any establishment that is quick, convenient, has excellent service and excellent treats will be on my list of destinations. (Not to mention any establishment that is tolerant of my frequent demanding visits). Coldstone has great stuff and great staff. Lots of flavors to choose from with helpful employees. I just made an order for 4 dozen customized 6-pk of ice cream cupcakes. They were amazing. I went online wanting to see if it was possible to put together my combination of ice cream, mix in, cake, and frosting - and I could! It's the same price as buying the pre-made 6-pk of ice cream cupcakes ($12.99) which is the typical chocolate or vanilla ice cream with chocolate or vanilla cake. I went for my default combo: Chocolate cake with coffee ice cream with heath bar mix-in with a vanilla frosting. This is a must stop place anytime I'm heading to and from the P-Hill area. This Cold stone has amazing stuff. The almonds & walnuts mix in's is my absolute favorite with Coffee ice Cream. the flavor that's not to sweet. All of their ice cream is rich, creamy. A small scoop is a tennis ball size and a double scoop could feed 2 people. It's pricey, but worth it. They also do funraisers you can benefits a different charity. A business that gives back gets five stars every time. The location is large and you can order ala cart. The only downside is getting off and back on the highway to get here. Take one baby step inside and your olfactory senses are immediately assaulted with the overwhelming scent o' sugar and sing song greetings from the young folks behind the counter. Talk about goodness! At first glance, you think, "damn what do I want?" Well, here you've got plenty to choose from. I agree with Katryn on getting a caramel shake!. The Shake was huge and delicious; . Just right! My Husband had the white chocolate ice cream and it was sooo mmm mmm good!!! It was especially a nice little treat after eating at Chipotle. We even tried the Pumkin Ice Cream which to me was hit! As for the Crew they were good. The place was clean, and the service was good. It looked so refreshing and different. Uli greeted with a smile when I entered. The ambience was great too, nice and clean. I told him that was my 1st time there. He let me try samples, I appreciated that very much. Unfortunately, they didn't have the Kiwi flavor. I'm a A1C Type 2 Diabetic, he showed me the Sugar free Strawberry. I tasted a sample and fell in love with it. If it hadn't been for Uli' friendly, outgoing, professional, courteous demeanor...I probably would have walked out. Instead, I bought some of the Strawberry Yogurt, it was delicious. I told him, I've been missing out. I also told him that I'd be back. Uli made my experience here very pleasant. Never considering crème brûlée as a boba option I decided to order the Taro Crème Brûlée ($6.75 for 24oz - cheap). The drink was VERY coconut forward, very sweet for my taste but enjoyable as the ice diluted it. The boba was very few, not a presence in most sips. The gentleman who assisted at the register was very friendly and patient as I decided. We did not wait long for our orders considering the crowd began after us. Not sure if I will order from here again, but it is certainly a place our daughter likes to return to.

The location is easy to get to, with lots of parking behind in a lot, and it's very clean, with lots of chairs and tables; yet all were filled this Saturday evening, which is a good sign. There are too many pastries, treats, and drinks to even cover, and we spent a few minutes trying to find our choices, which you mainly pick from cabinets using a self-serve tray and tongs. For drinks and cake (whole or sliced), you order those at the counter. We decided on some pastries, some cake slices, and a drink. And S'mores was the predominant theme today. We ordered a raspberry fruit bite, 2 chocolate supreme croissants, 2 S'mores Belgian waffles, a sugar mochi donut, a coffee donut croissant, 2 slices of S'mores chocolate marshmallow cake, and a slice of rainbow cake. We also got the cream cheese puff and the crème brûlée bombolone ... quite the name! And, of course, a S'mores frappe! The server helping us at the register was polite and efficient, but there was only one register open and a long line. As such, other folks were helping gather the goodies from the cake case, and as we were taking these to go, we did not realize until we were home that the rainbow cake was not a rainbow cake, but a THIRD slice of S'mores cake. Ugh. That one was chosen by the 8-year-old, who was understandably not happy, and the additional insult of paying extra (above the cost of the S'mores) for a cake we didn't get made ME unhappy too! Paid $8.29, got a $6.99 cake slice. The pastries are generally good, with some very good and some more of a "meh." Among the best were the raspberry fruit bite and the coffee donut croissant. That coffee one was a surprise, as it had a soft liquid filling we didn't realize when buying, and the taste was very coffee, which I loved. Will get that again for sure. The S'mores chocolate supreme croissant was also popular. The crème brûlée bombolone was different, with a light pastry and a filling different from what I usually find in crème puffs, and it was tasty. The waffles were not a light and airy as we would have liked, but the flavor was good. The mochi donut was a bit dry as well, not up to true Japanese bakery standards, and the cream cheese puff was all puff and short on the cream cheese (see photos). And the S'more cake was good for flavor, very rich and S'morey, but the presentation really is lacking. Not that I normally compare one chain to another, but for example, when we get Crumbl, the product is very close to the advertising. Not so with the S'more cake, and I am not even sure all the layers were there and in the proper order or proportion; check out the photos and see what I mean. However, the flavor was spot on, and that is the ultimate goal, although the "eyes eat first," as we Yelpers know! And the highlight was not a pastry or cake, but the S'more frappe. It was layered beautifully, fresh-tasting, and very S'morey (yes, a new word I now love!). We even got a second, as we had to eat this there so it could be shared by the group, and it was calling us! Definitely hope it is available next visit, and Starbucks could take a lesson in quality versus price point. Some of the pastries here are really not worth the cost for the product (would skip the cream cheese puff, for example, and the mochi donut), but everything else was very good. Other than an error in fulfilling the order correctly and a couple a poor pastries (quality), it was a good first visit, and we all would come back when near a location.

Grabbed a few pastries-- all were flaky and delicious. Probably even better if it were warm. I was in a time crunch so didn't ask for it. I ordered their caramel macchiato--really sweet for my taste buds.
