The day before his birthday party on a Monday, I went on the website and ordered/paid for 18 mini chocolate chip cookies. I immediately realized I didn't change the day/time to the next day, but there was no way to cancel or edit it on the website. Therefore, I called the local shop immediately and asked if I can cancel/reorder with the correct day/time or edit it, and they told me it's no problem, they were able to pull it up on their end and edit to the next day at the 30-minute time window I wanted. Awesome, sounds great. Tuesday, I go to Crumbl after work, at the end of my 30 minute pickup window, about to head straight to his birthday party. I walk up to the desk, and the girl working immediately tells me "unfortunately, these are the only cookies we have right now" and gestures to the display cookies. One was a regular size chocolate chip cookie and the other one of the specialty ones. I said "Oh, I actually have an online order for pickup." "yes but these are all we have." "It was an order I paid for yesterday for today during this time..." and she very snarkily says "I underSTAND that, but we are very short staffed today and also had a lot of bulk orders so we couldn't keep up." "I was one of the bulk orders I think...are you sure it's not boxed up already?" "No because we don't do that until you get here, we can't box them up two hours ago or whenever you ordered because then they won't be fresh, so we don't have any to box up for you." Wednesday, the next day, I anticipate a call from the manager but never received one. I called at the end of my work day, and the shift lead told me she gave my information to them this morning and they refunded it, and I should see it back on my card in a few days. 1. What is the point of ordering ahead online and choosing a specific pickup day/time window if they do not plan ahead to make the cookies for those preorders? It's not like other food places don't do this...if you don't arrive during your pickup window and your cookies are not "fresh," isn't that on the customer at that point? 2. If this is the system they think is acceptable, then why is there not always someone on staff working who knows how to refund these prepaid unfulfilled orders. 3. Why would they not contact customers with prepaid orders ahead of their pickup time if they're not going to be able to make their cookies that day? 4. Why would you allow an employee to be so rude and condescending to a customer that is legitimately just confused and disappointed by the fact that their prepaid order for their child's birthday party couldn't be fulfilled and nobody told them until the moment they showed up? There is no way they should be used for a party, since they don't try to make the order ready for your pickup time and don't notify you when it's not going to be able to be fulfilled until you show up there. Quite frankly, there is zero chance we will go to Crumbl again after this. The customer service was terrible. I really don't think I have ever experienced anything like that before.
