I first sashayed in here on Halloween, looking to load up on treats for myself and my partner to dig into later that night. It was a warm, bustling little place, with lots of friendly folks on staff and plenty to choose from! The white chocolate cookies are great, the donuts are awesome (my favorite was the maple bacon, so far), and the stacks on stacks of pre-packaged treats promise something for everyone. I adore the puppy chow, and my partner can't get enough of their cake pops. They even have dog treats for your furry friends! This is definitely one of the best places to go locally for good pastries and baked goods. They've got everything from donuts to cakes, cookies, bread, and even coffee. It's about a 25-ish minute drive from where I live and it's always worth the drive even though it's a bit out of the way. Their variety of things to choose from makes it very hard to decide what to get. First let me say, I LOVE Linda's Bakery items and their recently added gluten free selection is decent. We come to visit this EVERY SINGLE TIME we come into town during the summer (sometimes more than weekly visits) and it seems that each time I've come here, they raise their prices $.05-$.20 per doughnut and other bakery items increase as well. They are good, but dang! We might not be able to afford this special treat every time we come at this point. It started out just a few years ago they were under a $1 piece and they are creeping to $2 each! I understand that prices have gone up, but they've been raising their prices since before covid, based on consumer willingness to pay incremental prices. Wow, great place with an amazing selection. The restaurant was super clean, and though they were very busy the Sunday morning we came in, they seemed to have enough staff to handle the customers and our wait was reasonable. We also loved that they had dog treats available... especially as our dogs were waiting in the car for us! Nice sitting area too so that you can enjoy a baked good while you are there! Linda's coffee cakes are very good, especially the almond coffee cake. They use the right amount of nuts and the almond paste brings it all together. Their breads are rather boring and wish they made ancient grain sour dough with the crispy crust. The plain doughnuts are perfect. Crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. read more

We have been enjoying products from this bakery ever since we arrived in La Crosse 35 years ago. High-quality, excellent decorators, and really nice personnel. I only wish that they had a location closer to La Crosse; however, the 20 minute drive is beautiful, so I'm not really complaining. I really can't say enough good things about Linda's. They have never disappointed any of us. We have gone from having my kids love their cookies and cakes, to the point now where my grandchildren love them both! Their chocolate cake is beyond compare; the frosted sugar cookies are a family favorite. The Christmas sleighs, filled with various types of traditional cookies, are a welcome sight. Best Cake donuts ever! I was shocked when I moved to the Twin Cities and discovered that all of the donuts up here are terrible. I have been looking, I have gone to all of the places rated "Best Donut" in the Twin Cities and nothing comes close to Linda's. The texture and taste are just right, there is the slightest touch of nutmeg and the donut doesn't have that fakey yellow color that some other places sell. The pumpkin donuts in the fall are my favorites. But just try a plain cake donut and if you have had better, PLEASE tell me. I also highly, highly recommend the pecan coffee cake. When ever I go to visit my hometown, all my friends ask me to bring them some coffee cake. These also freeze very well. The danish and long johns are terrific, my family in Milwaukee says they are the best and people from Milwaukee know their pastries, (especially my family). They are open from like 6a to 6p everyday and are hugely popular in the LaCrosse area. If you are ever on I-90 between Rochester and Madison, get off off at West Salem and check this place out. read more

A couple years ago my best friend moved from Minneapolis, MN to Sparta, WI. I thought he was nuts for moving to such a small town but Linda's Bakery makes me feel so much better. I love being able to visit knowing not only that I can spend time with a friend, but we can also pig out on some of the best powdered donuts Ive ever had. They're slightly crispy on the outside which I thought was odd before I ate one but now all other powdered donuts are ruined for me. I only want Linda's. Have heard about the baked goods here for many years as I frequent the Lacrosse area for Oktoberfest racing. This year I actually tried them and it was worth it. The shop is west of the speedway on 16 about a mile or so past the car dealerships. Tried the apple Bismarck and the chocolate Bismarck. The apple was apple filled and had powdered sugar glaze. The chocolate was a cocoa powder donut with Bavarian crème filling. Both were great but one thing I would change is to add more filling. The chocolate wasn't too bad but the apple was very light on the filling, Also tried this thing called a couterette (I think that is what she called it). Was a chocolate cup filled with a rich crème. Tried the maple pecan and the Andes Mint, both delish! But be careful, they are addicting! Prices were very reasonable and comparable to other bakeries. read more

My dad sent me out here to get (of all things) BACON (they sell local bacon in their refrigerated case). But I was pleasantly surprised to find fantastic buttermilk cake donuts there as well! They also have something my gramma made that she called "mangle bread" (white cake, rolled in frosting, then rolled in peanuts) but they called just something like "peanut squares." Boy, that cake was TENDER. They also had a chocolate cake/choc frosting version rolled in crushed m&ms version. Finally, we tried the "sweet roll" aka cinnamon roll squares. The vision of my sisters wedding cake was not executed in the manor discussed during in-person ordering process. The cake was envisioned to have light gold blended brush strokes around the tops of the two-tiered cake. Upon picking up the cake, we were shocked to see thick gold brush splats/spots on the cake representing something similar to young child painting a cheetah or Dalmatian. The staff was lenient in fixing the cake by blending the spots to the best of their ability but the employee was annoyed and irritated. We ended up taking the cake as is, in hopes we can fix the cake by ourselves. Not pleased with the experience or service Linda's Bakery provided. read more
