The cinnamon rolls here are to die for! Huge and always fresh. Be prepared to stand in line though because they are always busy.....totally worth the wait! This place is the best and their doughnuts are delicious! read more

Everyone told me while in town I had to check out these maple donuts. I will say we got a dozen plus 6 and it was $30!!! I'm from Boston and it would have been $50+ The glazed croissant was fantastic, but i feel that the other donuts including the maple stick was just average. I eat a ton of donuts and they were just ok. Service was super friendly and line moved quick, but overall it was ok. read more

Pretty busy on a Saturday morning with a line out the door but it moved fast and was worth the brief wait! They have a wonderful variety of baked goods and it was hard to choose which one to try because they all looked so yummy and mouth-watering! I ended up ordering the chocolate glazed filled donut and a plain glazed donut; both were 10/10. The doughnut was so fluffy and light and paired perfectly with a cup of coffee. It was bustling and loud inside with no seating but there is some outdoor seating. Definitely more of a grab-and-go spot. I'm not surprised it's such a popular place and I'd come back again in a heartbeat to try more treats! read more

Best Bakery in the State. Always consistent, generous and tasty. The maple long john is their flag ship but the chocolate long john and glazed croissant (chronut) are hard to beat. read more

I had a remarkable experience at Bloedow Bakery. The quantity, variety, and absolute glory that are the donuts and other pastries for sale pull you into the door against your will. My life is forever changed by a simple chocolate frosted cake donut - nothing will now do compared to the one I got here. The folks running this pretty shop were so friendly, ready to box things up, and help the rush behind me, mid-afternoon. It can be quiet inside, probably with all the important executive decisions to be made. Best unsolicited advice, get many, especially if you're not from Winona, and come back when you can - I know I will! read more

Always worth the drive! Hadn't been back since graduation at Winona quite a few years ago. Ha! We got an assortment plus a loaf of bread and some buns. Both bread items were spectacular! The apple pie bar was great. Donuts were good too. Small place so plan on taking the donuts to go! read more

Bloedow Bakery - Bakeries Near Me - Winona, Minnesota

All over Winona people talk about this bakery. I had to stop in to see what the buzz was about. I can confidently say I am still a bit unsure. I arrived on a Friday morning and it was bustling. The way this bakery is designed is with no sitting area and a fast paced almost fast food style. You walk in with tons of baked goods all over (which was exciting there was such variety even if short lived) WITHOUT signs to know what you're ordering. The people behind the counter are hard to hear, the line was huge behind me and thus I was rushed. I said I've never been here to the gal and asked what's -pointed at item- and the woman genuinely looked annoyed. We had a yelling match to figure out what the baked goods were and I hurriedly choose two. This was high stress and confusing as I had no time to look at the baked goods and I was rushed through the line. I panic purchased an apple turnover and an apple glazed donut with apple in the center. I didn't eat the turnover but the donut was delicious. I likely would not return here simply due to the chaotic nature of this place, the lack of signage, and lack of seating. There was no look at the case and get to the register to order -- it was yell at the case and get to the register as fast as possible to move you through. Overall i was disappointed with the vibe as bakeries for me are an enjoyable cozy experience and this was just stressful. read more

Some of the best donuts in the region and one of my favorite ones in the state. Bloedow's donuts have some heft to them but still retain a light and airy texture on the inside. This gives the dough a great chew and texture that I just can't seem to find at other bakeries. These donuts are filling! My favorite is the tried and true maple Long John but I do like their apple cinnamon filled Bismarck with cinnamon icing, that icing is amazing. My buddy I grabbed these with commented how these donuts reminded him of the ones his southern-born grandma used to make, he also mentioned texture and weight and how that's hard to find in a good roll. Great place, try them the next time your are in the Winona area. read more

Best bakery in the United States. I'm addicted to the peanut butter rolls and the maple long johns. But my ultimate splurge is the cream filled maple long johns, which they bake only on occassion. To die for!! read more

Fast service and yummy treats! Picked some up before a hockey tournament. It's a very popular spot. When we drove by after 10 am there was still a line down the street of people waiting! read more

Donuts and cakes and cookies galore. Nothing too special as far as I was concerned just your typical nostalgic bakery. Service was rushed and they were missing a lot. Busy place not great to sit and relax but they do have places to eat. read more

Always consistent, always delicious! I like to ask which day the cookies are baked, so I get the chewy Molasses Cookies! Yum!

Always a classic! Lovely doughnuts and staff. Especially recommend the cinnamon rolls

I usually rate my donut shops based on their apple fritter, but unfortunately they don't make them. so I got a glazed regular, glazed croissant and maple bacon. Those 3 were awesome. Will definitely be back. You guys make a fritter as good as everything else, 5 stars. Great little bakery in a great little town. read more

When in Winona stop here for donuts pastries and bread. This is a fantastic local bakery. Consider getting a dozen or more and share them with your family or at work tomorrow. read more

Bloedow Bakery - Maple Bacon Deliciousness - Bakeries Near Me - Winona, Minnesota

Maple long john, cinnamon roll, glazed croissant, & raspberry filled donut was what I got. All were delicious. Friendly staff & on this rainy Wednesday in May, there was no line. read more

We do love donuts so when this place popped up in the Winona tourist booklet we knew we had to check it out. Plus there was a coupon for a free donut when you bought one! Fortunately it was mid-week and mid-morning so there were no lines out the door (we saw the warnings). They have a pretty big selection but I was expecting more unusual choices that we have seen in other towns' donut shops. One thing is they do not have any with peanuts (must be an allergy thing). We did get one with maple and bacon, a cruller and a maple long John (or whatever they call them here). They all were good. I was just expecting more given the glowing reviews. read more

Try everything. Nothing misses. Best donuts in the country.! Have never had a bad donut always fresh

A cute corner bakery one would find in a small town setting. They had delicious donuts (limited variety), friendly service and many other bakery items. Hours are limited so check before you go read more

Great bakery with the right tastes and feels. Not the sad processed ingredients used in grocery store and gas station bakery items.

This is the best bakery i have ever been too I've been all over the country for work and never found anything close to this wonderful place. read more

My boyfriend and I were staying in Winona for an event in a nearby town and decided to explore while we were there. The minute I googled this town, Bloedow Bakery was one of the first "must-visit" places that popped up. The bakery is family owned and has been around since 1924. It seems like this place is a historical staple of Winona. We had no idea this place existed till about 1 PM, so by the time we got there, there was very little pastries remaining. We got a chance to try their "donut of the day" which was the blueberry filled donut. We also ordered the raspberry filled donut. I was so into the fall season being around the corner and wanted to try their pumpkin bars, but unfortunately, they were all out. The donuts were delicious. You can tell they are homemade by how delicate they are and how they melt in your mouth when you bite into them. I wish we knew about this place earlier, we would have tried so many other things, but either way, if you are ever in the Winona area, this place is a must visit! ~Till next time! read more

Best donuts in the area! Their glazed croissants are to die for!

Unbelievably solid. All the flavors. Cronut was my favorite if you force me to have another- that's the one I would eat. Went on a summer weekday morning at 10am and there was a line. The line did not extend beyond the door at this point - but the parking lot had more cars than anywhere else in town! Worth the detour! I've been honestly thinking about what it would be like to move to MN. A local told me Krispy Kreme opened a store in town - that wasn't successful cuz Customers were so loyal. I believe it - and well, the taste is incomparable!!! read more

Donuts are super fresh and so good. I just wish the lemon donuts had the option of not having icing on them, would love to have a powdered lemon donut. The icing they put on is super thick and sweet. read more

Good donuts for what we got. Was almost sold out by 10am. Chaos inside....need some structure to the line.

Classic. A perfect example of "if it's not broken, don't fix it". This is what every town / neighborhood needs; a business that is integral to the community. read more

Pillowy, glazed goodness with that freshly-made-not-industrially-processed bite that compels you to deny the calories and justify eating three in one sitting. I always make a point of bringing a dozen back to my home state after visiting family in Winona, and get *personally* offended when they're not consumed in under an hour by my colleagues at work. Bloedow's epitomizes the best of small-town culinary Americana and should be protected at all costs. read more

Best donuts period! WCCO rates this place as the best in Minnesota and I agree. You WILL NOT find a better donut and if you want one you better get there early. Especially on Saturday! The maple long johns are the first to sell out followed by the Glazed circle of delight! Word has it that they are still made the same way they were when the placed opened. Which means they must use lard. Some donuts you can only buy on certain days so plan ahead. Lucky the bacon maple long john has worked up to an everyday delight. The salty bacon and the sweet maple are a great combination. I almost forgot they sell other bakery products which are just as good. If you are in Winona, I would strongly recommend you have one and maybe you can prove me wrong. I doubt it on this one. read more

Best donuts I've ever had. While I've tried many the maple bacon donut is my favorite. A great place to stop after church or for a treat.

Donuts are one of my favorite foods, so I had to stop here during a recent trip to Winona, and Bloedow does not disappoint. My only gripe, which is why I'm only giving 4 stars, is that none of the items are labeled. We had several other people in waiting with us in the bakery, and I felt pressure to choose but I didn't know what a lot of the items were. If the items were labeled, I would totally give Bloedow 5 stars. read more

Donuts so good that Krispy Kreme didn't stand a chance in Winona ! Customers also support a locally owned business by stopping here.

Best donuts anywhere. Literally anywhere. I've sent many out-of-town friends hete, and they've become raving evangelists, too.

This place is amazing! They do all different styles of doughnuts, pastries, scones, cookies, loafs of bread and more. It is always amazing and always fresh. We love their doughnuts a d fresh bread. My family has been coming here for almost 60+ years, that's four generations. Now I'm bringing my children. If you are traveling through town and never been here before, make sure you take a minute to stop! Come early to make sure you get what you want, because they do sell out. Very busy place! read more

We couldn't get in. The line was to long. I have heard good things about this bakery, maybe next time!

5 solid stars. It feels bizarre reviewing a place that I have been going to, on and off, for 16 years. When I moved away for good, 6 years ago, I haven't been able to find anything quite the same as Bloedow's. You know what they say, you don't appreciate things when you have them. You only miss them when they're gone. The same is true for Bloedow's. The Maple Long John is the most famous donut of all. A few years ago they started making them with Bacon on top. Just when I thought you couldn't improve perfection, Bloedow's proved me wrong. They sell out of these real fast. Get them while you can. Early is best, but I've rocked up at 12 noon and they pulled a fresh pan out of the back and into the case. (cue Mozart's Serenade No. 13 in G Major) My other favorite things are the simple and delicious sugar Glazed. We also love the chocolate frosted Cake donuts, cinnamon bear claws and their cookies and cupcakes are good too! If you are in town for a BBQ, get a bag of their fresh hamburger or hot-dog buns. They are out of this world! Prepare for battle in the line. On Saturday mornings, the line goes right down Broadway Street into downtown Winona. Just kidding, not that far. But almost. I find every excuse possible to visit my parents or my in-laws, just so I can stop at Bloedow's. This is not a joke. I make the (almost) 3 hour drive from Minneapolis / St. Paul just so I can sink my teeth into Maple Long Johns and Glazed sugar donuts. Just when you thought you couldn't get anything better, the bill at the end shocks you with how inexpensive this place is. Some donuts are less than a dollar. I paid around $8 for 9 doughnuts. I easily dropped $25 on a box of delights in Minneapolis. But I am not ashamed of that. The Big City has hardened me to how much things cost. Winona has that small town charm, nicely priced box of goodies, and when we leave it's happy kid and happy husband. Yes, I use donut and doughnut interchangeably. Sometimes you can't stay focused when you are on a sugar high! read more
