This is my favorite place to get my birthday cake and cup cakes! I'm not a fan of regular cake, but I love ice cream and this is the perfect thing! Anyone who knows me, knows this is the only thing that I want! I also love going in and just picking up a pint from the freezer. My new favorite is the waffle cone flavor! It's amazing. I might grab that and a chocolate dipped shell and I'm all set. It's the perfect recipe when I've had a long week at work and I just want indulge on some great ice cream and a movie at home. I will say I was really disappointed today with our trip to cold stone. It was our 14th anniversary and ever year we return to cold stone as we did the very first night we were married. We ordered a like it and two love it's. We were sitting outside enjoying the weather eating our ice cream and wife noticed a hair on her spoon. Normally we would remove it and it would be ok because we know it happens. But we looked in the cup and noticed additional hairs in the cup. Needless to say, my wife did not want any more ice cream. I have eaten here before and not had a problem, but multi hairs in a ice cream is not good. :( read more

I think it's funny when people say that Cold Stone ice cream is anything less than great. I actually hate buying ice cream at Cold Stone because it is SO good I always want more and my experience here was no different. I LOVE that they make their ice cream daily and that it doesn't sit around for weeks. My daughter ordered a mint with chocolate concoction that blew her taste buds out of the water and my chocolate and peanut butter with brownie made me want to simply give up eating other food so I could live on this creation. The counter guy working with us CLEARLY had been doing this for some time because he was quick, helpful, and really seemed to enjoy making us happy with the ice cream. We got our ice cream just before hitting the road, so the sugar rush helped for at least part of the ride! The only down-side to Cold Stone is the price...it's a little steep, but this location isn't any different than anywhere else. read more

I have been going to cold stone for several years. The location we visit is on Alverser Drive. Tonight I go and order ice cream to go. I paid my bill, 8.15 and told the cashier she could keep the change for a tip. $1.85. I paid with a 10.00 bill. The young lady at the register smirked as though that was not enough for a tip, so I placed an additional dollar in the tip jar. If you have a food allergy or you know someone with a food allergy, this is the place to get ice cream. They are always great about getting ice cream from the back and mixing it in the back to avoid cross-contamination. We have never had a problem here and they are always extremely gracious about accommodating us. The ice cream is delicious, too! read more

Love this location for ice cream cakes! Much better than the generic friendly's or carvel ones. There's really no where else in the area you can go to get a unique ICE CREAM cake. While they do have the standard cold stone cakes, I generally order a custom one for special occasions. An ice cream parlour! A friend of mine works here parttime. Well, have they got lots of flavours or what? I had cheesecake, which was a bit conservative of me, but it was great, especially with added blueberries - oh yum! My daughter had cotton candy flavour - it was a great colour. Now one of our friends had a peanut butter/ butterscotch and cookiedough mixture - oh that was really good and I do forget what the other friend had but it was also delicious. Good little ice cream parlor with a cool (pun partially intended) concept: cross creative ice cream flavors with a wide variety of toppings, and instead of using them as toppings, mix them INTO the ice cream on a cold slab. Brilliant! Good News: Flavors are VERY intense and multi-layered, and include some really tasty ingredients like brownies, cookie dough, and fresh fruit. Some of my favorite sundaes are the Birthday Cake Remix (Cake Batter Ice Cream with Rainbow Sprinkles, Brownie and Fudge Sauce), Oreo Overload (Sweet Cream Ice Cream with Chocolate Chips, Oreo Cookies and Fudge Sauce), and Peanut Butter Cup Perfection (Chocolate Ice Cream with Peanut Butter, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, and Fudge Sauce). You always have the option to Build Your Own if you don't see anything on the menu to your liking, and you always have the option to switch-out mix-ins if you want to change something that IS on the menu. The flexibility is a real plus. Bad News: The flavors are SOOOO insanely rich that I often get tired of whatever I ordered before I finish it, or require some kind of palate cleanse somewhere in the middle. In most cases, I end up throwing at least a little bit away (or wishing I did in hindsight after reaching the bottom of the cup). Cold Stone is also a bit on the pricey side, where a small sundae will run you approximately $5 (with a large approximately $7), so the prospect of throwing any away seems like a big waste. I will hit Cold Stone every now and again, mostly when I get a craving for their Cake Batter ice cream (the best on the menu, in my opinion), but for the Bad News I noted above, I am not a regular, and likely will not be any time soon. Although the ice cream is typically a nice treat. The service leaves a lot to be desired. I drove out to pick up a simple birthday cake 28 minutes before closing (according to the hours posted online), only to find the staff having locked the doors and closing up with 3 friends inside. I knocked at the door for 5 minutes in the rain while being ignored by the staff and his buddies. I should probably thank Danny (the staff member who eventually answered my call) since I ended up going elsewhere and saving $20 on the cake I intended to buy. For the record, if you have posted hours, stick to them... And a sign in the window doesn't communicate to your CUSTOMERS that your hours have changed until they waste their time and show up only to be disappointed. Lastly, it's also unprofessional to have the kid and his buddies hanging out, closing 30 minutes before the publicly posted closing time and ignoring a customer on a rainy night. Expect a call to corporate, and I look forward to spending my money elsewhere in the future. Maybe the competition will have competent staff and a semblance of how to conduct business professionally. read more

I have been to a number of ice cream parlors around the Richmond area and this one is by far my favorite! The staff always gives superior service, I can't tell you how many times I have gone in there and have not been able to decide what I want & they always provide a thoughtful and delicious suggestions. There is so much to choose from between cakes, cupcakes, ice cream cookie sandwiches, smoothies, milkshakes, waffle cones dipped in chocolate! EVERYTHING on the menu is delicious and they have yet to let me down. I also find coupons so that's a plus!
