My family and I come to this Bruster's location quite a bit. Usually, service is good. However, my most recent experience was awful. They got my order wrong and when I told her, she told me I was wrong and was snotty about it. She reprinted the receipt, while handing it to me she told me I was wrong again even though it clearly stated I was correct and she was in fact wrong. She didn't apologize and instead gave me dirty looks and mumbled things under breath. Another staff member remade my shake. By the time I got my new shake, my other ones were melted. read more

Bruster's is my fav. The Hull St/Genito location I think will always be a high performer and though all the other locations I've visited in the area (Chester, Staples Mill Rd) still do a great job, there's a friendliness, promptness, and generosity that the Hull St location has seemed to perfected. Graham Central Station is the hands down favorite though I've enjoyed more different flavors at Bruster's Real Ice Cream than I could ever count. I prefer them (everytime) over Cold Stone, Baskin Robbins, or any of their other competition. read more

This place has some good and bad days... Good: the ice cream is pretty good. I love the cotton candy and the raspberry cheesecake one. My dog actually got a doggy ice cream cup too. I had no idea that they had this. There was a young girl serving the ice cream and she was really nice. Bad: another day I went, I got the cotton candy scoop and it the girl handed it to me melted. Like it was just a cone with melted ice cream in it. I tried to ask her for another one but she said I had to pay for it?? If I could give zero stars that is what I would give. If I were the owner not one of these teenagers would have a job. I come frequently and the last couple of months every single time has been horrible. They are too busy laughing and joking around to hear your order at the speaker so you have to repeat it several times and then you get to the window and they still don't have the order right. On top of this, you do NOT take my card and then ASK ME FOR A TIP. That is so inappropriate to do. I would not mind if good service was given but after the first time of being shocked she had the nerve to ask me for a tip I very happily decline the tip now (only when service was horrible would I do that, I am generally very generous in tipping!). Owner: you need to re-evaluate your staff and make sure their priorities are customers. Plenty of time to laugh and have fun in an ice cream shop when you are in between customers. read more

I treated myself to a sundae here on mother's day. I got the banana pudding flavor with hot fudge, whipped cream, and a cherry. It was great! I should've gotten caramel though, I think that would've been a better compliment. The banana flavor tasted pretty real but I got a hint of that artificial flavoring which wasn't doing it for me. I liked the drive thru especially during the pandemic, however I wished they wouldn't have put a plastic spoon in the bowl - just in case ya know, germs.. The kids working there socialize too much and get orders wrong and increase the wait times in summer. Ice cream was runny and had to eat it too fast to enjoy it. Maybe the freezers are set wrong. This place gives Brusters a bad reputation as an ice cream parlor. The person "training" some younger personnel was rude and condescending as could possibly be. She should find a job where dealing with customers is limited to little exposure as she doesn't have the personality for serving the public. As a franchise store they don't have to make any of the products that are promoted in flyers or other advertising means which I felt was rather STUPID because why would any business owner not take advantage of a National promotion ? Not at all very smart. So the place has two strikes against it and I've only visited there once. The biggest offense was the trainer and the attitude she had toward the paying customers. Under new ownership! We had heard horrible things about the previous ownership so always drove out of the way to another location. Today we came for the first time with the new ownership and it was great! The two gentlemen helping customers were friendly, quick, and the ice cream delicious as always! We love Bruster's! Good icecream. Good service. Super close to our house. I love that they have the drive through option, although we usually like to go walk around with our dogs. They also offer pup cups, which we love (and so do our dogs!). They usually have some kind of deal where you get a discount if it's raining, which is fun. Thanks, Bruster's!! read more

The ice cream is pretty standard. I do love the banana chocolate chip, but they rarely have it available. However for families this place is great. Under 40 inches gets a free cone, dogs get a free doggie sundae, and for the rest of the family, reasonable prices. Definitely a great spot to stop and grab a cone! read more

A few days ago I went here and ordered a large vanilla milkshake to bring back for my grandmother who has Parkinson's disease to eat for dinner. She was having a sick stomach and all she wanted was a milkshake. When I got home, she took one sip and realized it was banana. I took photos, as the person had made a mistake. today I headed back to the Brusters to get her another milkshake to replace the one that she had and showed the photos of the tremendous banana chunks in the shake. I've been go to Great Big Greenhouse forever and always thought I should try out the drive through ice cream place over there, and I finally did - now I regret all the years I never bothered to stop! This place is awesome! They have about a million flavors and they are super, super rich and delicious. It definitely tastes like high quality ice cream. Love Brusters! I've been coming here regularly for over a year now (I won't admit what "regularly" means in case my doctor reads my reviews.) They have a regular mix of flavors and rotate some others in periodically too. I haven't had a bad one yet. They also seem to be generous with the ice cream fillings when they're making the stuff. I don't believe I've had a single bite of a nutty ice cream that didn't have plenty of nuts, every taste of birthday cake has the full essence of the flavor, and their chocolate has such a delicious rich flavor. I had only one issue with this location when they closed 15 minutes early one night and wouldn't sell me ice cream, even though they were still working inside. I felt like quite the junkie standing there with a longing look...just one bite PLEASE?!? read more

That would actually be a negative 1 star. Went to Brusters today and found a large, dead fly in my ice cream. The fly was not pleasant, but I understand it can happen. I'm not so much annoyed with the fly as with the audacity of the owner, Janine Thomas, to treat a paying, respectful customer in the manner which follows. She offered to get me another cone but I wasn't in the mood for ice cream anymore and I politely declined. She refused to reimburse me for the cone. I didn't ask to be reimbursed for my entire order, just the one cone with the unpleasant surprise. She refused and said I could take a small scoop home in a cup. I explained I was not going home and, therefore, that wasn't an option. She said no money back, ever. Okay, how about a credit or gift card. Nope. Why, you ask? Well Janine informed me that my cone was $3.50 and the smallest denomination in a gift card was $5. Really? REALLY? Oh, her departing words to me? 'find another Brusters'. Purchased a gift card and when the giftee tried to use it, there were no funds on it. Contacted franchise owner and was yelled at and accused of already using the card and was fraudulently attempting to get more funds on the card. With receipt in hand the giftee returned a couple days later and was able to obtain a properly funded card wile being treated very rude by the franchise owner. Other patrons were asking why the owner was having a hissy fit. When a explanation was given the owner told the giftee she was not allowed to talk to other customers and the police were going to be called. I have contacted the corporate office. YIKES!! read more

If I could give no stars at all, I would. The owner of this location is a BIG ZERO in customer relations, and I am not exaggerating when I state that. Today May, 3, 2017, I went to buy an ice cream for myself while I was driving around in hot weather and no ac working in my vehicle!! I bought a double dip waffle cone...the scoop size has been shrinking lately, but that was the least of the problem . When the young man gave me my cone, I noticed the cone was cracked in two places at the top and very unstable. Afraid it would all fall out and melt into my lap, I requested a second cone to slip under to hold the original cone in place. One would have thought I asked for all the cones, that way I was treated by the owner. She was extremely rude, unpleasant and very condescending. She claimed that when it was given it to me (how did she know that since she did not hand it to me?) it was not cracked..implying that I did, then proceeded to tell me that I would need to pay for a second cone or get a free cup ( I was driving...cup was not gonna work). Told her I frequent this store many times in a month and never had this issue rise before (but she had not been there then), and was shocked that she was being so rude to a loyal customer...she continued with her rudeness and refused to give a refund...then asked if I wanted a cone or cup? ...several times. Told her I will not be paying extra and that I wanted a cone. She gave it to me and slammed the window in my face! Shameless behavior on her part and not even a word of apology. Needless to say, like many others who have written here, I will not be going back. Will make a trip to Gelato Celesti in the Stony Point Shopping Centre on Huguenot and give them all my and my family's and friends' business. Go here at your own peril, you might just get a cone thrown in your face one of these days. If this older blonde woman waits on you, run like hell and take your money elsewhere!! Horrible service. Manager was extremely rude and dismissive. Rushed us through our order and then argued with me about charging for an extra empty cup that I requested because my daughter's ice cream hadn't been scooped properly and had fallen off the cone into her hand. Manager offered no apology and not even an extra napkin. I felt terrible for the poor teenager working there!!
