We chatted with a couple of store owners, and they all recommended Riverview as the place to eat. We had already made reservations there weeks before. We loved the town and enjoyed the afternoon; we highly recommend spending a sunny summer or fall day there. Now about the restaurant. We were given a very good table in a private corner so that we could talk freely without disruption. The service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. We never felt rushed. The ambiance is not the feature here, but there are nice river views and outdoor dining. We sat inside. The food was very good, even if not what I consider haute cuisine. For the first course, I had the watermelon and feta salad; it was nice and refreshing, even if the watermelon was a bit old. For the main course, I had a pork chop with a potato croquette, and my wife had the fish. We both enjoyed our dinners. We finished with two desserts: bread pudding and a Peach melba. Overall, I recommend the Riverview and will probably be back the next time we visit. If you do stop in, say hello to the bartender, Shauan-Michel.

Another time, same greeter, told us the wait was 40 mins. I utilized the rest room to only see that there were empty booths inside. We were dog less and she did not ask nor had the time to ask if we wanted to sit inside. The last time we went, late July, there was no snotty greeter. The greeter was one of the servers, so she had to sweat both jobs. Had my 10 pound dog! No comment. We sat down and waited. And waited and waited. Then an obviously overstressed male server, who was sick of his job, dropped some menus on the table and asked what shall he get us. Well sorry we did not research the menus on line before hand. Waited again. Finally ordered. We needed condiments. Waited. The place was packed. Two servers. The train blew by with its horn blasting. A drink would have helped. The burgers are good. Gonna try to eat inside one more time before I write this place off. Sad.

This is one of the best pizza shops, if not THE BEST in this region and surrounding areas. Family owned since 1972, with a traditional neighborhood classic style. Cold Spring Pizza never lets anyone go home hungry. They live by the motto - Help Thy Neighbor. If you're short of change, don't worry, Cold Spring Pizza, will serve you anyway. They may kindly ask you to pay the difference next time you come in, putting trust in their patrons first. I've actually seen people return many months later to pay off simple change in exchange of the owners kindness toward them - something they could have easily gotten away with. As for their food - no culinary experience. Only first hand traditional style cuisine learned at home. Authentic Italian cooking passed on from generation-to-generation. You cannot get a better deal than that. Dinners are delicious and very moderately priced. Everything is prepared fresh daily. Uncomplicated and very family oriented, they welcome children and patrons of all ages, serving three generations of Cold Spring/Garrison Patrons. They recently introduced a lovely outdoor patio, as well as some subtle ongoing indoor renovating. When asked about this - the owners response was, "We don't want to make too much change, our customers like the old fashioned look. It just doesn't get any better! I've had pizza all up and down the East Coast of the USA. I've never found any that top Cold Spring Pizza. This is always my FIRST stop when visiting the village. The pepperoni rolls, and BBQ chicken rolls are crazy good, chicken and broccoli pizza is amazing, and their dinners are awesome too. The fact is this place has great pizza all the time PERIOD For regular priced pizza, it is as good as you can get. Cold spring pizza is the best pizza in the area. I've been to most other pizzerias in the area and this one stands out. It's always clean, the people are friendly, and the food is great. I usually just go with the cheese slice but the meatball slice here is amazing too. read more
