Del was the only one there and helped answer a few questions for us, informing us that he was the "counter guy" and that Tim was not in that day to do our cabinet estimate. That was fine, Del took our information and kitchen details to leave for Tim to contact us with a cabinet estimate. Del seemed knowledgeable about counters and that he'd do a good job with our counter estimate once Tim could get our cabinets done. 5 days later after calling once and emailing Tim, we hadn't heard anything back. We just bought the house and the 3-4 week lead time for ordering cabinets is part of the critical path of our remodel. It has been over 2 weeks now and we haven't been contacted once. We clearly were either not a priority for them or they lost/ignored our request for an estimate. They get two stars because they seem like their product is good and other reviewers have claimed that they do good work. We wouldn't know since they wouldn't even get to the point of giving us an estimate for our business. Make sure to call ahead to ensure that Tim or Del is in before driving over there, don't rely on them to contact you.

The price seemed to not be out of line with the big box stores but the process at those stores was pretty convoluted while Dexter Cabinet put it into one nice package (although we decided to purchase a different faucet than the several good ones they offered in their package). After a couple go-rounds at Lowe's, we threw up our hands and went with the more "comfortable" (and LOCAL) Dexter Cabinet option. Glad we did. I would however recommend that potential customers take some responsibility for keeping the communication going. Contact them if you don't hear back when you expect to. That worked really well for us. This seems to be the way to work with most contractors, we've found.

Rod was our project manager, and I've included images below to showcase the quality of his work. According to Joey, Rod is "the best they have," but the pictures tell a different story. The work was sloppy, careless, and far from what we were promised. When we reached out to Joey to address the poor quality of the work, we were gaslighted into believing this was what we had paid for. We were told we didn't read our contract properly, that it didn't include sanding the walls, and even threatened with collections. To top it off, Joey casually dismissed our concerns with the comment, "even a pickle can set a pregnant lady off." However, when Nick evaluated the work in person, he confirmed that the quality was poor and agreed that everything needed to be redone. We paid nearly $5,000 for this experience. According to Tribble, they "made it right" by returning to redo the work--but that required as much time as the original project. We had arranged for the work to be done while we were out of town for convenience, but we were still displaced for two extra days, turning a two-day project into a four-day ordeal. As a result, we overpaid for subpar work, are now a month and a half behind schedule, and have endured unnecessary stress and disrespect, all for something as simple as having our walls painted. I'm at a loss as to how they could possibly think they "made it right." The final result is decent, though there are areas with uneven texture where they had to fix previous mistakes. We were told this was the best they could do. Will was the only one to offer a genuine apology and made a kind effort to address the issues, but that doesn't undo the frustration we've experienced. This has been the most expensive headache I've ever created for myself. What was meant to simplify our lives during pregnancy has instead caused a level of stress I can't fully describe. I'm left questioning the validity of all the positive reviews--our experience was the complete opposite. We will be using a different company for our futures projects. If it goes well I will update my post with recommendations.

Update to Complaint/Review HomeSpec Waterproofing and…read moreFoundation Repair I am writing to provide an update regarding my experience with HomeSpec Waterproofing. In 2024 I entered into a contract (which I paid cash for) with HomeSpec to have my basement waterproofed and a sump pump installed. Over the following two years my basement continued to take on water after heavy rainfalls. After multiple visits that yeilded no answers and a periood where communication stalled, I posted a negative review to express my frustration. Shortly after posting, HomeSpec reached out and sent a team back to my home. Thats when management representative Brian stepped in and took full accountability for finding the root cause. He used a practical methods to track the water flow, he placed paper towels around the perimeter to pinpoint the entry point and found it. After the next rain he had his crew to remove the drywall and insulation to expose the hidden leak. Once the leak was identified, the crew repaired the issue. As of 9/2/2026, HomeSpec has restored my basement by installing new insulation, putting up and painting new drywall as replacing my electrical fixtures in the area where there was water damage. While the overall process took a long time and required significant peristance to reach a solution, I want to extend my sincere appreciation to Brian for his professionalism, determination to making things right, Hopefully the issue is now resolved, and I will be monitoring the basement during upcoming rainfalls to ensure the fix remains permanent. High strength epoxy injection was chosen since there had been no water leaks and both inductive and thermal imaging confirmed there was no moisture concern in any of the basement walls. Throughout the entire process HomeSpec were very professional and courteous, from their office staff through to the field technicians. In particular the technicians Mike B. and Michael W. did a great job and worked well as a team. The cracks were repaired proficiently and the work site was well cleaned and all debris removed before departing. Overall 5 stars.

We hired this company for a 2nd story addition and my opinion is they were negligent in their…read morebuilding practices and then became very unprofessional. 2/3rds into tearing our roof off they dishonestly price gouged and charged us an additional $21,000 for something. It's so egregious that we will report it! After the roof was removed they caused the loss of our entire home below the addition by not properly protecting it. After the massive $100,000+ loss they got the new 2nd story up and dried in but continued to ignore our request to repair water leaks getting into the home. We contacted them on at least 6 occasions about the leaks and it was not repaired and is still not repaired. After almost 2 months we still have ongoing leaks. Unfortunately I had to contact the city and have them intervene and force the builder to fix things that they would not even reply to. They also built things in the wrong spot and ignored our selections. They installed the wrong window and tried to leave it that way and then when they finally fixed it they installed the wrong size in the wrong spot. It didn't even match the agreed elevation plan. When it was brought to their attention yet again that they made a mistake we were told they would only correct it if we paid them $2400! Unfortunately I had to go buy the correct window at my expense. I had remove and install it correctly myself. Then they stole my old window and all my left over material I paid for on my house project. They are still currently working on our home but will not be doing any further work for the next phase. If you are considering hiring this company contact me and I'll be happy to share with you in detail what's happened and our experience. My experience is they will sell you on their work and contract and then after they start they will tell you they came across a problem and they will need to write up a change order. They will take liberties by choosing selections you didn't approve. In our case they installed windows and a front door without even asking or disclosing they were doing it. How can you just pick a persons front door without even asking? I had to go buy another door and install it myself at my expense ! They also damaged over $1000 of our personal property that was no where near the work area and refuse to replace it. Buyer beware because for us these change orders are excessive in price compared to the industry standard and they don't seem to care if they damage your personal property! Our feeling and experience is also that they will try very hard to not reply to text or emails and will instead want only verbal communication. Verbal communication is great but even with that they make error after error. My opinion is they only want verbal because if it's in writing they can't get out of it but if it's only verbal there is no record of their conversations with us. After what I saw as an incompetent act by not protecting our home I began to document everything with them and I was asking for official written replies to emails and text. They then called me and asked why I was insisting on having everything in writing and wanting email replies. I told them so it's documented incase they try to do us wrong. After that we would get very little in written responses and have been largely ignored. . I come from a family of builders and have a decent amount of knowledge on how things are supposed to be built. If I didn't have that knowledge my option is we would have an addition that was not well built and would cause us a lot of issues in the future including structural. If you do not have building knowledge my opinion is to stay far away from this company. Even if you do I would not recommend them. Also if you meet them you might get the impression that TJ does actual construction work on the jobs. For our project our experience is the son TJ only does the business end of the company's business. The father Tim is the builder and his son just puts in change orders and draw request. We have not seen TJ one time since the day we signed the contract. It's my understanding that Tim Sr is not a licensed builder!
