We let them know that we needed the driveway done and cured before that date so we could use a wheelchair on it . They were here the next day to take out the old concrete and prepare it for the new. These guys really knew their stuff and they worked long and hard and did an absolutely stellar job. Communication with Michigan Rose Construction was great. They were always available to answer questions and we enjoyed interacting with the men who were doing the work. We would hire them again for any construction project without hesitation.

Their "designer" basically knew how to order the cabinets, and manipulate the layout program, but did not help with ACUTAL design at all, so be careful there! In fact, the dimensions were off - we would have ended up with a 2 foot wide kitchen table and a gigantic kitchen island if we hadn't pushed back. Their carpenter is awesome. He listened and even came to us with questions and built us a beautiful bench. Their tiler did a good job on kitchen and bathroom tiles. We did not like our project manager. He did not listen to our requests and subsequently things were not done correctly and had to be redone (along with arguments about payment for redo). They never came back to acid wash bricks, which they said they would do. Repeated requests have gone ignored. Our mistake for paying bill in full before it was finished.

Our project was a complete kitchen and bath remodel. Removed a wall, moved doors, converted a 1/2…read morebath into a full bath. Replace the flooring, ceiling and walls. We re-insulated the exterior walls too. The project was about 16 weeks long, maybe 2 weeks longer than the original estimate but that was all due to sub-contractor timing. Coffer Contracting worked to keep things on track and worked around the subs. The kitchen is beautiful the attention to detail is very well executed. There were very few changes to the original project and they were all at my request. Like adding the insulation to the project. Coffer was fair on the quotes for the changes. They have a reliable and trustworthy crew and we were very comfortable letting them work when we were home or gone. We took a little vacation during the heaviest demolition. They worked hard to control the dust and keep things clean. The transformation is so amazing that we have a hard time remembering what the old kitchen looks like. Coffer Contracting did the following work - demolition, rough carpentry, management of subs for electrical, plumbing, heating, and drywall. They hung the cabinets, doors installed the shower stall and did all the finish trim on the cabinets. I had a separate contractor do the floors because they were my friends. I would hire them again to do more work. But, I think I will take a rest for a while.

Despite the need to tape-up windows and doors, they always left some accessible to minimize disruption during the job. Everyone was methodical and polite. Palmer Painting power-washed, scraped, caulked, and painted (brush and spray) our cedar siding. They used a moisture meter to ensure wood was dry enough for priming and painting. There…read morewas a lot of upfront planning (i.e., repeat measurements, clarifying expectations, selecting materials, etc.), but their approach works in order to anticipate and plan for potential hiccups. Ken even had other subcontractors come out to ensure that we had the best estimate for the work. They kept us in the loop, cleaned up at the end of the day, and always demonstrated a high level of professionalism (i.e., early/on time, respectful, reliable, etc.), which made them stand out compared to all the other contractors we contacted. The only downside was the cost relative to other contractors. However, as newbie homeowners we've learned that the contractor fees tend to be higher in Ann Arbor. Although, we feel that the fee was well worth it in the end because of their stellar work. The bathroom previously was a room to avoid, and a space that we didn't use. They truly transformed our space. Looking forward to ADB helping us with our next project!!
