He handled the vast majority of work for the project: demolition, subcontracting and scheduling for electrical, plumbing, HVAC, floors, and countertops, installation of cabinets, finish carpentry. My wife and I were responsible for layout, providing cabinets, and answering Nate's questions along the way. Nate has a great eye for detail and genuinely made us feel cared for throughout the project. It's hard to communicate just how much trust you put in a GC for this type of renovation: he was in our house most days for three months with our two kids, making decisions that we don't have the expertise to evaluate and that are often going to get covered up with drywall. Based on Nate's own comments and the praise from inspectors who passed through, you could tell Nate was a good one. Our house's layout allowed us to live in our house (although not our kitchen) for the duration of the remodel and Nate did an admirable job of keeping the dust out of the lived-in space. Nate kept an immaculate job site and you can tell that he takes immense pride in the work that he does. Communication-wise, he always kept us in the loop and made an extra effort to stay in touch on days when we happened not to see each other. His cost estimates for the renovation were accurate and his price was more than fair given the quality of his work. When unexpected situations arose (as they inevitably do in renovations of a 120 year old house), he took responsibility for finding a path forward. His carpentry skills are top-notch and he has a great relationship with other high-quality subs in the area that he can bring in for things like electrical and plumbing work. At one point, he even brought in another highly-skilled finish carpenter where he thought it could shave a day or two off of the project's timeline. The project did ultimately take a few weeks longer than expected (mostly due to difficulties scheduling inspections and subs), but Nate made every effort to mitigate those delays as much as possible. My wife and I are thrilled with how the kitchen turned out and would hire Nate again in a heartbeat.
