I used to love coming to this location ALL the time for my coffee, especially with the beautiful water view on the patio. I have never had any issues with service until months ago and have never visited again. Honestly, I will never visit again after the way I was treated by the staff. I planned a meeting with a group of friends and suggested this place because I loved the spot. Only 1 minute after letting my group sit outside on the patio, I got inside the shop to purchase my drink/food and felt like I was being interrogated. To preface, I had no issue discussing with my group in the first place to buy drinks in order to sit in their patio area and if I was asked kindly, I would have immediately followed their request with no hesitation. But it is absolutely absurd how it felt like I was treated like I was doing something illegal or wrong for setting down our stuff at the table before ordering in and taking all of our drinks outside. I was being asked questions about how many people I was with and who else was coming to be a part of my group. It caught me off guard how nasty their tone was because it was never presented in my prior visits until now so I stuttered in shock. I can't recall exactly who it was but I believe it was the manager and a female staff member. My entire group already planned on getting drinks and I acknowledge their policy is to buy before you sit, but the message could have been expressed in a much more polite and respectful way. I've just recently moved back and started coming here again, I've been to every location they have here, and I have never walked away unsatisfied! The coffee is great, the Chai tea is my go-to, though. The strawberry chiller is quite good too, if you choose the sweeter of things. Don't even get me started on the baklava!!!!! The inside is great but the patio is a chain smokers haven. I had to leave after an hour of sitting on the patio and being surrounded by smokers with ash trays provided by the coffee house. I didn't have a single minute of fresh air sitting outside. I would not recommend the patio you are a non smoker. I haven't experienced this at other coffee shops around town. When the weather is nice, all I need is a cup of hot coffee and a view. My friend recommended this place for its amazing view and I cannot agree less. I happened to go post lunch and the place had quiet a few people working and relaxing. I was welcomed warmly and they have quiet a number of options for coffee. They had baklava and I wondered why when this wasn't a Mediterranean store. Anyways Tiramisu coffee caught my eye and I went for a hot one. If you want to use their WiFi, you will have to ask so they can give you an unique id. I sat outside and the view was just amazing. There is this nice lake view, only problem is the coffee didn't do justice. I wasn't impressed with the coffee, it lacked the flavor I was hoping it would be. The coffee was just average. Got a notice that I needed to 'update" my review. Yeah...it's still not my favorite. Pros: Location, location, location...can't beat sitting next to a beautiful lake (albeit fake) and enjoy the weather and the ducks. They have Wi-Fi. Cons: Coffee is ok nothing special. You only get a cup of hot water and a tea bag if you ask for tea, they don't brew it or boil the water. One of my pet peeves here is that they have hardly any food! It's the same crap every week, baklava and other really sugary things. Wish they had sandwiches or some real food besides sweets. If you wanna enjoy the ducks and lake there is a good chance you will also be enjoying someone else's smoke. This can get annoying quickly specially if you have a whole table that's smoking next to you or if someone has cigars. If you go early in the mornings you tend to avoid these people. Service? It depends who you get. Most of the staff is pretty cool and mellow, the owners on the other hand can sometimes be abrupt and some what rude. They don't like you hanging around for too long. As for the Wi-Fi, I went in once bought a latte and some cake thing and asked for a WI-Fi connection # (you need it to log into their network). I sat down with my laptop and iphone and realized I was going to need another Wi-Fi connection # cuz I was planning on updating my iphone while I was there and they make you get a # for each device. I immediately went back to the line and asked the girl for another Wi-Fi connection # at which point she told me I would have to spend at least another $3 in order for her to give it to me since that was their policy. I had just spent $7 for that coffee and stupid sweet thing so as far as I could see I had met their policy. A lady in line with her husband agreed with me since she remembered me being in line ahead of her and told the girl to just give me her # since she didn't think they were being reasonable either. This place has a lot of potential and they would get a higher rating from me if they would address some of these issues. read more

When I first moved to Chandler in 2006, this was one of the first places I visited. Coffee Rush has become my home for 15 years now. I've had many study nights, long conversations and even a break up here (or maybe we got back together - I can't remember). I come here mostly because they open late and they have that beautiful view of the nearby lake. The indoor space is mostly study groups or people on their laptops. Outside is more groups of people having conversations. It sometimes can get a little smoky, but it is a nice space with a grassy area. It's perfect if you want to bring a dog or feed the ducks. The sidewalk circles the entire lake if you ever want to go on a long walk. I've tried many of the drinks here like the Deadly Soda, Caramel Nut Latte and Chai Latte. But I mostly come here for regular coffee (they have several blends to choice from) or a Red Eye (coffee with an espresso shot). Their baklava is really good too if you want a little snack. Coffee Rush does enforce their rules to keep the community vibe that they have built here. No outside drinks allowed and you can't hang around if you don't order a drink. WiFi is limited to a few hours, just ask for a code when you order a drink. They do a punch card system where you get a free drink after so many punches. Monday is double punch day. The baristas are great here and most of them have been here for some time. When you become a regular, it's nice when they start your drink as you walk in. Overall, Coffee Rush is my weekly go-to and I love the community here. Check out the photos posted all over the walls and you will see what I mean. Came to the açaí Playa Bowl which is right next door to Coffee Rush, my mother and I decided to sit outside and didn't realize the seating was for Coffee Rush. A slender, 6 foot white guy with tats on his arm, came out and was extremely rude about it. He said, "excuse me, the seats are for customers of coffee rush only so I need you both to buy something from us so I expect to see you inside in a few minutes....". I told him no, we're not going to buy anything then we just moved. His entire approach that he took that was extremely unprofessional and very rude and unnecessary. Especially considering there were several tables open and that's what I pointed out to him as we walked away in disbelief of how rude he was. read more

We had a great experience at this cozy cafe while visiting Arizona. It seems to be a local gem. The workers were incredibly friendly and efficient. It was impressive that they were able to chat with us while making our drinks. Since it was a warmer day, me and my boyfriend opted for the mint mocha frosts - which taste exactly as it sounds.... Blended mint mocha goodness. Not to be dramatic, but dang - it really hit the spot~ So, so good! I would definitely be a frequent visitor if I was from the area. I used to come here on the regular when I lived in the area and love it! I just revisited and was so disappointed in what it has become! I ordered my usual and watched them put coffee powder instead of coffee in my drink and the staff was extremely rude! I drove from Tempe to Chandler to take my daughter and wife out to get a coffee, specifically from Coffee Rush. I bought a smoothie from the store next door and because I had "outside food or beverage" we were kicked out of their patio, even though we just bought two coffees. The staff only said something to me after I had paid for our coffees and tipped them!! So we left. This policy is the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen a store do. The employee said, "we can't have outside drinks because of our brand" So your brand is to kick out a family with their young daughter who supported a local business, spent money at your store, and tipped your staff because I didn't want to drink coffee and chose to get a smoothie next door at Playa Bowls?! From a "branding" perspective, you need to adjust because of this experience, not only will I be charging back on the purchase, but I will NEVER spend money at Coffee Rush again. The Water View is excellent, can't beat the from the outside patio. The inside & outside areas are large with lots of space, so you're not crowded at all. However, the Wi-Fi is terrible, it keeps going in & out multiple times per hour. But whatever, we're here for Coffee, not Wi-Fi. Reason for the 2 stars is the girls working at the counter are 2 of the loudest people I've ever encountered, they're literally screaming to each other non-stop for over an hour. I understand some people have loud voices, but this goes way beyond loud voices. They're literally screaming to the point where customers are leaving the place. Hopefully the Management can view the cameras to view how many customers walked out due to the extreme noise. read more

There is no effort to make the place comfortable and nice (hard metal chair burning hot in summer) no decor at all, average coffee but mostly no fresh cookies/pastries which would quadruple their business (baklavas are not to everybody's taste). Located right off the lake it is a perfect spot to meet up with a friend and relax! They have fresh baklava from a local restaurant and amazing muffins (the chocolate one is my fav). This is a nice joint. I remember hearing about Coffee Rush quite a bit when I was at ASU as a lot of people I knew would come here. It's far from me so I never went but I met up with some friends here recently. It's a good sized coffee shop with ample outdoor seating next to a lake (pond?) I ordered a decaf iced mocha since I don't need caffeine, and especially not at night. After we got our drinks we pushed two tables together with enough chairs. It was a bit chilly but nothing unbearable, and it's hardly cold in the valley so I'll very receptive of it. My drink was fine, I'm not a big coffee drinker so I'm not discerning when it comes to taste. I should've gotten a non-coffee drink like tea or hot chocolate, which they have. Apparently this place is very busy on the weekends so I'm glad we were there on a weekday. It's a great meeting place and people were there for various reasons studying, hanging out, etc. In terms of space and atmosphere, I did like Coffee Rush and can see why it's so popular. read more

The "gentleman" who I assume to be either the owner, or the manager, is a complete jerk. I am a regular customer there, though it seems that sentiment is not shared by the subject in question. I arrived on a Wednesday to work from the outside sitting area, as I do often. The shop has a policy that you must at least buy a beverage if you're going to sit in their area. Totally and completely understandable. On this day, I happen to be running a couple minutes behind for a meeting. I approached the sitting area that was not full. Sat at one of the wrought iron tables and pulled my laptop out to jump into my meeting. To be fair, I recognized in the moment that I was technically in violation of their policy. But I had every intention on going inside and buying a drink. I simply needed a few minutes to get through a quick meeting, and then I would go inside by my drink, as I always do, come back outside and continue working. In 15 minutes I had three people approach me about the fact that I had not purchased anything. The first two gentlemen were nice enough. I explained to them very politely, my situation, and they understood. Or so it seemed. The third gentleman, mentioned above, came out with an entirely different demeanor. he was rude, insistent, and unreasonable. Interrupting the meeting that I was obviously on, and showing no concern for that fact. Going so far as to call me a loiterer, and indeed, not a customer. My attempts to explain to him, as I did the previous two gentlemen fell on deaf ears. It is mind blowing that this gentleman would choose to lose a customer forever, and the hundreds if not, thousands of dollars that I would eventually spend in that establishment, over one 5 dollar drink that I was going to buy anyway, just to make his point. I am not at all the type of person that chooses to not follow rules, because I don't agree with them. As a matter fact, I can't stand those type of people. All I needed, as I explained to the gentleman, was of just a few minutes of consideration. To allow me to put the B before the A, just for moment. It all started when I bought a $2 cup of water and they wouldn't let me drink it in the store and told them I had to buy coffee or get out. Went back for the next 3 years and just today I was told I am banned from the place. The owner never said anything to me but some of the workers there are real assholes. Loved this coffee shop by the water!!! This place has great ambience, and sunset views. We saw a lot of students and just casual hangout while enjoying a great cup of coffee. Prices for 20 oz latte and frost with shots around $5 which is pretty competitive price with other coffee shops. Timings of this place is one the biggest pro for me to come here as this place is open until 11pm so plenty of time to enjoy late evening latte and sweet goodies. Also, guys at the counter were super friendly and joking with customers which was great to be greeted like that. Give this place a try and you won't regret it. read more
