By many standards, this is just an average coffee house. BUT!!!! Any place that is selling coffee before noon in Provo, Utah gets an additional star awarded just for that! It's clean and new and the help if friendly. In fact the entire atmosphere is very friendly. They serve light meal items and bakery goods. The bagels we had were average, which is still an o.k. bagel. The coffee was also just average and one wishes they would use a few more grounds when brewing it. Love: black drip coffee, it's all a good cup of joe black & white latte with almond milk. My friend and I were standing in line over 10 minutes waiting till the guy at the counter (I think his name was Chris) finished his political chat with customers ahead of us. He didn't even look at us, and when he was done - no apology, no thank you for waiting. Nothing. Btw, my friend and I both ordered regular coffees and waited FOREVER to get them. How much time do you need to pour already made coffee? Very unfriendly atmosphere and coffee wasn't worth putting up with it again. read more

I quickly became a fan of the Coffee Pod today. I'm not a coffee drinker, but I stopped in today to talk to the owner (Marnie) about possibly doing some marketing for her. While I was waiting for Marnie to come in, I ordered a hot chocolate (I know, you coffee drinkers are probably groaning right now). Amanda, the barista, tossed out several options and I ended up getting a dark hot chocolate with caramel syrup. I've never had a dark hot chocolate before, but I'm hooked now! The shop is a cool little place right in the heart of Provo (yes, I said in the heart of Provo - who would have thought). If I lived closer I'd probably be there all the time just to have a little quite time surfing the web on their free wi-fi. I'll probably grab a muffin or danish next time I'm in. And I have to be honest, they did give me the hot chocolate for free - I tried to insist on paying for it, but Amanda threatened to fight me over it. (5 stars for a fantastic hot chocolate, friendly staff and a sweet hang out. ) read more

I was very disappointed yesterday, with the service at Coffee Pod. Let me premise this by saying, I have been several times with a pleasant experience. So this happened on 8/2/2020, I was second in line at the drive up window. I waited several minutes for the first car to be attended too, which was strange when they are usually pretty fast, but hey that is life. As I pulled up to the drive up window, a man walked up to the walk up window. She told me she would be right with me. I watched her making this man's order, and visited and talked to him. I was in my car for about 12-15 minutes, the reason I know this is because I had gone through several songs, at which point I decided to leave without an order. Just because a man was at the window, gives the staff member the right to ignore the other customer, who was actually "technically in line before the man at the "window". She could have taken my order while visiting with this man. read more

This place is a pretty cool coffee shop for provo. The espresso has excellent flavor and is robust which is a big plus. The baristas can be hit or miss. Coffee pods best barista is Silvana! She is a bright spot next to Utah grade baristas. If I go in and order a cappuccino she makes it exactly like it should be made with micro-foam. Utah baristas tend to over steam the milk and then separate the milk and foam so that you have a meringue like foam consistency on top. But Silvana does it right just like the elite shops in SLC (i.e. Blue Copper Room, 3 pines, Publik). Silvana should be teaching all other baristas here! read more

I have been going here for a few weeks since my local coffee shop closed down. every other day I have had a lovely experience with friendly workers greeting me and making my coffee. Today however, I ordered my usual, four shots over ice. When the worker put my coffee in a small espresso cup I asked if she'd sell me SELL me another larger cup so I could put cream in it and she refused. Then proceeded to tell me I ordered my coffee wrong even though the other workers all happily made my coffee how I asked. I won't be going here if I continue to be treated this way. read more

I really wanted to like this place. Unfortunately, like most coffeehouses within 30 miles of Provo, there was a lot to be desired. After searching Utah County on a Sunday morning for a merchant willing to be open and serve coffee, I decided to try Coffee Pod based on reviews. First impressions were not great (dirty tables, cigarette butts littered all over the outside seating area, broken chairs). I walked in and stood at the counter for 6-7 minutes while the barista contemplated the merits of the movie "Lincoln" with another patron that clearly had time to spare. While I'm all for friendly baristas, I would've expected at least some sort of acknowledgment that she would get to me shortly. I left after another two minutes of standing at the counter as the place clearly isn't interested in "winning" over new customers. I went to Starbucks down the street...no frills, but at least I knew that I'd be served. PS - The place gets two stars simply for being open on Sunday. Oh, how I miss the "normal" pleasures of life outside of Utah! read more

This is one of those businesses that seem to view customers as a nuisance. Hand-written signs that warn against loitering, surcharges for using credit cards, bathroom keys kept behind the counter -- maybe if the staff were nicer, these details wouldn't come across so cold. But the coffee really is good. And I'm sure the staff is nice sometimes, I just haven't seen it yet. read more

Im originally from California so even though i live in utah now, i still like to go out for good coffee every once in a while, and to be honest ive been to probably every coffee shop in my vicinity, so even with Utah's limited choice of coffee shops and cafes this place barely reaches sub-par for me. On the plus side they have a wide range of choices for caffeinated drinks but for as unique as they are and for as great as they sound, ive had better coffee at other places in the area. And while maybe im just ordering the wrong drinks, its still not good enough for me to continue to visit because, out of the multiple times ive gone, what I hate most is how rude the staff is. With such a large menu with many things ive obviously never tried before i like to ask questions so i can order something i like and for this i always feel like im being treated like a nuisance. Overall ive found the staff to be impatient and lukewarm at best. In addition to that, while the atmosphere may suit others, I dont particularly care for the worn down furniture and cigarette butts or the option to buy condoms on the counter next to the pastries. read more

The coffee is pretty good and their prices aren't bad, the card charge is a little petty though. I like the atmosphere and shop a lot but the staff comes off as arrogant and bothered by my presence. Went in here to get drinks about a week ago-- the employee at the counter was totally standoffish and rude. We got there and she was cleaning something towards the back and mumbled something that sounded like the equivalent of "what do you want?". She wasn't looking at me so I thought she was talking to someone in the back being so far away; though clearly not, as she gets visibly pissed after me not responding and barks at me asking if I know what I want yet. I'm taken off guard so I just ordered a steamer. The whole time she's taking the order, she's communicating to me that I'm clearly ruining her life by being there--she won't make eye contact, she's mumbling and being totally passive aggressive. It was a frustrating experience because she was mean, but even more so it It was a really confusing experience because I don't know why she was so mad at us for being there. It wasn't like we started off by being demanding or rude, she started the interaction off that way! I gave two stars because the steamer was actually good, but this was by far the worst and strangest customer service experience I've had in a long time. Do they not want new customers? Is it supposed to be a regulars-only place? Do I have to have a nose-ring or dye my hair Aqua in order to be treated like a human, let alone get good service? If this is the case, that's fine-- but at least post a sign on the door or something. read more

So, I'm staying at the Provo Marriott where they charge $10/day for WiFi. Epic fail for a place that expensive. I wandered around town and found the Coffee Pod. Great mocha, atmosphere and free WiFi to paying customers. Thanks for a great, productive and tasty afternoon! The Barristas are friendly and helpful, the furniture is comfortable, and they have a decent stack of used books for sale. The free Wifi is fast enough for email and Facebooking. I've just ordered hot chocolate and herbal tea, which has been average--nothing exciting. They have some pastries and light food items. A worthy alternative to the lame Starbucks that closes at 8pm. Sorely needed. Lots of large windows and a clean bathroom. read more

The best place to get coffee or study in utah county. Chill vibes, great drinks, fun staff, small menu of food items (paninis, bagels, muffins and such). They have almond and soy milk substitutes too which is a plus. Amazing drink flavors. The BEST coffee is the highlander Grogg. Simply looking for a place I can relax, do some work (on my laptop), and enjoy some good coffee. Starbucks is always packed, so I found out about this place and thought I'd check it out, which was a huge waste of time. They have 1 outlet for all the inner seating and couches, which was taken by the "open" sign. All other outlets line the bar-type seating by the Windows. Except the blinds on half are broken, so unless you've taken one of the 2 seats by the blinds that work, have fun getting the sun's light blasted in your face while you're working. Never even bothered to try the drinks because I'm never coming back unless I plan to only do as little work as my battery will allow. read more

First of all, the coffee is good. Lets get that out of the way. The Coffee Pod serves a tasty hot cup of brown, caffeine water. Much like the kind I can serve myself at home in the comfort of my own underwear, but with decidedly less dog hair in it. So don't regard my rating for the establishment as reflective of the quality of their umber potation. What it really reflects is the question that my experiences at the Pod beg: is there a reason why some of the employees at Coffee Pod hate my guts? They never seem happy to see me. Could it be my face, or my clothes, or do I unconsciously represent the "establishment" that they are clearly striking out against with their, second hand books and D.I. mugs. The cashier carries on his conversation with a friend while a wait to be served and does not offer any eye contact or even the hint of that polite Utah Valley grimace which I'm surprised I missed as much as I did. And before you start to feel too good about yourself, you should know that they hate your guts, too. And why? The place is too cool for itself. Thinking itself a bastion for the local artist, where the smiles and courtesy have become too commercial--the purvey of larger, Seattle based chains. Here the large windows don't seem to let much light in as dust gathers on dingy window sills. This anachronistic apathy holdover from the 90's may have been en vogue when Utah needed its moody counter culture and the Pod was among the few brave offerings in Utah county, but they are no longer the only game in town and what was once rebellious and moody comes across as immature and outmoded at the same time. What attempts at charming with its apparent lack of cohesiveness, mismatched couches and chairs, overcrowded poster board, and quirky staff has been overshadowed by a certain thoughtlessness toward what should be its main demographic: creatives. The music is loud, jarring and inconsistent, switching between 60's love songs and guitar-solo rock. Concentrating is next to impossible. If you do, however, finally find a creative space in your head it may be too late, as your computer may have run out of batteries; there is a deficit of usable outlets here and though seating is plenty most patrons are forced to crowd around few available. Does it really have to be like this? No. It doesn't. This is perplexing choices the Pod makes is what the management considers reflective of its unique brand.That's fine if it works for you and you like the Pod--remember the slurp is tasty--but if you want an experience that fosters introspection, relaxation, or just plain feeling good about yourself, then you may have to give some serious thought to the competition, of which there is increasingly plentiful options. read more

This place has awesome drinks to choose from! Hands down so much better than Starbucks!!! Four stars because they have some employees that are super friendly and have great service and some that seem super unhappy to be there. But either way the drinks are worth it for sure! A little less than average coffee, pretty nice people.....but! Every time i go in, its the same barista ; I've seen her give out bad shots multiple times and to top it off...she NEVER WEARS SHOES!! :( Iv'e even seen her pick up things using her bare toes, no joke. I used to come here occasionally because I found that their drinks are generally better than Starbucks. However, I have found that they are very inconsistent with their drink making. My usual drink is an iced chai tea, nothing complicated or with picky instructions. However, at least 2 or 3 of the times I've ordered it, I haven't even been able to drink it because of the ridiculous amount of tea/syrup to milk ratio (WAY too sweet). And don't ever expect to get good service. Unless you're a "regular" they'll treat you like it was an annoyance to make you coffee. Definitely won't be going back again after another inedible drink this morning. Disappointing. read more

I have mixed feelings about Coffee Pod. The coffee is definitely good. Really good. But the customer experience is somewhat mixed. The drive-through is awkwardly placed and quite slow. They charge extra for cards, won't take multiple orders through drive-through, and you have to get the bathroom key from a staff member. Indoor seating is adequate and reasonably comfortable, although it looks like the furniture section of a secondhand store. The staff is inconsistent--sometimes they're very friendly, other times you have to do a song and dance to get their attention. But hey, it's a coffee shop in Provo and their coffee doesn't suck. read more
