discriminating environment at the Provo location 2 days ago . What should have been a simple coffee run before I headed to the 4th district court for business this visit to Juice 'n Java turned into a scene of verbal assault and physical intimidation. It began with the older female barista who rang me up. She was incredibly rude, cocky, dismissive, and had an "attitude" toward every word I said. When they realized they were out of whipped cream for my decaf latte (decaff which I need for a heart condition), she and the staff laughed sarcastically. When I asked for other options, she snapped that they "wouldn't give things for free," which I never asked for. After they mentioned that water wasn't free to go and asked that I pay $1 for a water I insisted I would like the water to stay well they didn't like that I wanted to sit down and drink my coffee, also that water almost never came til mins before I had to go , I had to ask three times before a bald older grouchy looking man named Christopher slammed the cup on the counter, the lady who took the order never got the water and so when I reminded them that I had waited forever for the water he went shouting that he was "too busy with the drive thru and that I had to wait ." The situation turned dangerous after I used the restroom which I had to ask for a code to enter and he shouted the numbers at me like I was a lil Toddler learning numbers . I overheard Christopher calling me a "bitch." When I was entering the restroom. As I came out I tried to ask the female barista for the owner's name to report the name Calling and attitude , she ignored me twice. Christopher then abandoned the drive-thru, holding a mop, and began screaming at me. Shouting, "Yes, I said you are a bitch because you are a bitch, coming here giving us attitude about whipp cream treating us like crap !" He proceeded to: * Physically intimidate me by lunging toward me and repeatedly slamming the mop against the floor as he mopped . * Use xenophobic slurs, called me a bitch at least 10 times, mocking my accent and screaming that he didn't know "what hole I came from" but that I "needed to go back to it." Both of these employees Threaten me by shouting for me to "get the eff out" and claiming they would call the police for trespassing because I dared to ask for the owner's name and because they didn't like that I was not taking their attitude or prejudice against me. Just so you know Mr nit so kind Chris working at the coffee shop. I own 2 business and I am a citizen raised in Utah since 1998 and came here legally! You making assumptions about what hole I came from is pretty low and ignorant . The drive-thru was left unattended while he screamed at me. Multiple customers were so horrified some were confused some walked out. In fact, a couple followed me to my car to make sure I was okay and suggested I file formal charges. Christopher has apparently managed this shop for 8 years, yet he lacks basic anger management and human decency. If you are a person with an accent or a customer or professional who expects basic respect, stay away. This staff is a massive liability to the brand. They need to leave customer service to people who actually want to work who has the energy and the passion for customers and who want to represent a brand not some hippie who doesn't care to trash the brand and drive revenue to the floor . Check their google reviews and you will see how much they disrespect customers. They think because their friends have posted some fake reviews that those reviews can distract from the other reviews where customers or victims or as they call us " trolls" have posted the truth. I don't care how much people thinks that senior barista Chris and senior lady barista think they are a badass. For all I know they both act as if they hate their job wearing that bitterness in their faces. It is clear that that are butthurt that there aren't as many customers "wonder why" but also butthurt that they probably don't get many tips. Please go get a real Job leave this to the youthful happy hipsters. I know several baristas that have worked here at both locations in the past and many have left this job unhappy. Owners wake up before you guys have to close your doors maybe start finding that guy and that lady a replacement before you are left with just Chris family and friends as customers. We are in a economy where we can't risk losing customers. Chris won't pay your bills when you have to shut down that place or better yet he won't be able to afford or help you guys pay a lawsuit if you keep allowing him to not control his anger and entitlement in this building. Do you want to be treated like a paying customer with basic respect and not get judged and get a look even though you're already paying over $6 for a flavored late, and do you want to make sure your drink is made correctly? Then you got to make sure to tip these people! Because it appears that at this specific establishment, I don't know how much theses guys are making, but they want their tips, bad. Besides you're paying for a drink, you're also very much expected to pay extra for the basic professionalism you suppose to get as a paying customer as well. So, please, if you decide to get anything here, besides the $6 or $7 you're already planning on paying for the drink, you also need to prepare an extra dollar or two for the tips so you don't get judged and left wondering if your drink is made right or not. Worst customer service ever. The lady was annoyed that I asked for changes to my coffee then asked for an extra shot. This should not put her out at all. She handed me the cc reader and pulled back and said we don't let customers handle it. She said ill sign for you and do your tip. I said I don't know if I want to leave a tip. I will have to charge you for the extra shot then. I assumed she would. I was on a call when she handed me my drink and I didn't hear her, so she yelled it and thrusted the drink at me and said, "oh my God, don't back here." Then I sat down 5 steps away from the counter at a table waiting for my coffee for about10 minutes while she served other people. She decided to just leave it on the counter yet walked everyone else's to them. I guess the 7.00 coffee doesn't deserve good customer service or the employee walking 5 steps. Clearly she doesn't own the company and doesn't care about customer service, just her tips before she has done anything. This place is easily the best coffee shop in Utah county. And nothing (so far) compares in salt lake county. I get the same thing every time and it hits every time! Service is always super nice! I will never not tip here. The drive thru line can be a wait sometimes but it doesn't deter me ever. It's worth every second. It feels like a very welcoming and open minded environment. Or a soy milk latte with a touch of their spiced brown sugar syrup and extra foam Their espresso is strong with super balanced flavors. LOVE. Their drive through is slow but if you go inside it's great! Some of their baristas are a bit pushy with tips (I wish they let you tip at your own discretion, it's so awkward and I would probably tip more otherwise!) but most are super informed and professional! I ordered my drink with a smile on my face, and the barista (I wish I knew her name -- I would feel no shame sharing it) held the card reader against her chest and asked me if I wanted to tip. First of all, are you just going to choose my tip for me? How am I supposed to tip if you won't offer me the card reader to choose for myself like every other normal place? I very politely said, "No, thank you," and she gave me the nastiest look -- as if I had just told her she smelled bad. Without saying a word, she slammed the window shut. Not just closed -- slammed it. She reappeared to hand me my drink, still completely silent, and as I was in the middle of saying "Thank you," she slammed it shut again. She was so aggressive, I genuinely debated whether I should even drink my beverage because I feared she might have done something to it. I did drink it, and it tasted normal. But fast-forward an hour or so later, and I had diarrhea out of nowhere. I am extremely paranoid that something could've been done to my drink -- especially because I'm pregnant. Most likely, nothing was done, and I'm just being paranoid. But no customer should ever have to question whether their order was tampered with! Coming to an area where you know coffee can be frowned upon.... Juice 'n Java does a really amazing job of making those delicious, maybe a little evil, beverages for us coffee lovers. This is the place where my FIL has visited just about daily for the last half a decade for his dirty chai before his retirement a few years ago, we've heard all about it for years so we definitely had to come check it out. Stayed at an nearby Airbnb that's walking distance to J'nJ and basically had this every day for the 3 days we're in town, sometimes twice a day. The dirty chai is something to write home about, and the coffee... so fragrant and smooth. The service is amazing too, every time we stopped by. Had to show a picture of the FIL and the gentleman knew him right away. Though he has been retired for a few years, so happy they still recognize his face. Of course we had to bring him a dirty chai too for some good memories. Amazing service, quick drinks and of course, tasty stuff! read more

They have good sick tea but horrid customer service and business management. Every time I go there it is a 50/50 chance they will have the sick tea, they are SUPER slow (sometimes it takes 10 minutes for just one order), and some employees are rude. one time a girl asked if I would like to leave a tip and when I said "not today" she said "That's unfortunate." I was in need of a smoothie pick-me-up and debating on a coffee drink chaser when I looked up juice spots near me. This one popped up as close to my hotel and I gave it a shot. So clean and cute! The interior is extremely inviting and I can imagine a few people lounging around, relaxing over their cups while playing chess, chatting, or working on their laptops...when things go back to normal. I ordered the green smoothie... yum!! Freshly made while I waited, it was the perfect booster after my hike up the Y trail. But for folks who remember with fondness the tiny, noisy, bus station adjacent shack (occasionally overrun with local kids and positively dripping with countercultural bric-a-brac), a moment of pause is understandable. But like Salt Lake Roasting Co. and Coffee Garden before it, Jn'J has taken opportunity of a forced move to create more grown-up space for coffee and contemplation. Given that I've caught them on the first day of their soft open, it's tough to say for certain what Jn'J will become. I can report that the service I received was friendly, and the vanilla latte I ordered appeared promply and was rich and flavorful. I'd call that a promising start. This place makes a magnificent cup of coffee and can mix it up just about any way you like. Of course, they also offer non-coffee options. And of course, they do those well as well. They do a fantastic job with seasonal decor and physically they're in a great place; very easy in and out and if you've got a trailer attached to yourself, there is always plentiful parking directly across the street. We stopped by Juice 'n Java on a Sunday afternoon. We were the 3rd car in line in the drive thru. We waited about 15-20 minutes for the 2 cars in front of us. I ordered the Mozen Froka and my husband ordered the Carmel Mozen. The lady working was very nice but asked us 3 different times if we wanted whipped cream. The drinks were good but a little too sugary for my liking, however, it was nice to try out a local coffee shop. read more

The green smoothie was really bad it was warm and had no flavor. The blended chai was delightful however when I asked to give the whip to my dog they charged me $1 to put it in a coffee lid. Good joes, most of the workers are friendly. The boss is a neat lad. One thing that I get why they do it but still kinda find annoying is the signing of the receipt, I understand if people want to tip through it or if they need the signature but it makes me feel obligated to tip. Which is why I enjoy Starbucks because yes the tip thing is there but there's no obligations. I'm sure they will ask about the tipping on the receipt thing if they'd like to tip. We've been going there for more than 15 years whenever we are in Provo, and the attitude there has never changed. They always put a sign up on the drive-through window that says that they are closed an hour before anything online is indicated. Fix your times that way people don't get their hopes up to have coffee after they've worked all day or want to come later and think you are closing at 7 and then you have a sign on your door and drive thru that says 6 pm but everywhere else online say 7. read more

The baristas here are always incredibly kind and friendly. It's not uncommon for them to give you a extra shot of espresso or even some treats for your favorite furry friend for free. Ever since I can remember, my parents have been getting coffee at Juice and Java in Provo. When I was younger, it was the luckiest day ever when they would let me get one of their HUGE blueberry muffins. Each hot drink is topped off with a chocolate covered mocha bean which is a fun addition to each drink. Recently they moved locations to a larger location on a bigger and more busy road, and we were excited to try out the new location. Went there today after a few years and sadly I will NOT be back. Pulled up to the window and the lady opened the sliding window and said "yes?" *I would like to order a double tall mocha*. "Ummm what is that??" *Oh I am sorry, a tall double mocha please*. "WHAT'S A TALL!?" *Sorry, other coffee places I tell them tall, can I get a medium?* "Seriously lady? We have 12 oz, 14 oz, and 16 oz. What do you want?" I was offended but said *the 16 oz, (medium).* She hurried and shut the window before I could say another word. I got her attention and told her I had another drink to order, and she acted so disgusted. *Can I get a sugar free caramel mocha please in a 16 oz?* She said, "we don't have sugar free chocolate, only sugar free caramel." (accepting that the caramel is what I ordered in the first place, I said *OK!* She handed me the drinks, didn't say anything else. Did NOT leave a tip, and will not be back. This used to be a fan favorite, so I stopped in for a minute to grab a cold brew. I said no sugar, just a pump of French vanilla. (21oz cup) Pulled out and it was all sugar and mostly ice. Super disappointing. They weren't even busy. Probably won't be back again.
