This place is teeny tiny, but what they lack in space they make up for in flavor! The wait for food isn't bad, but be aware they only have two tables and a little sit up bar. Again, the small size has nothing on how delicious their food and drink are! We ordered two lobster rolls, a chowder to share and a Cadillac cooler to share. Granted it was $50 at a coffee shop, but I feel like it was the right choice. We decided to eat at one of the small tables as it was still damp with rain outside. The chowder was up first and was fantastic. It can't be out of a can, and if it is then they sure fooled me. It was great and the cup was enough to share. Filled with tender potatoes and clams in each bite, it was great to the last. The Cadillac cooler was fantastic and I'm completely addicted now. I read reviews about it being too surgery so I ordered without the whipped cream. One was large in size but my boyfriend and I fought over it all the way back to the motel, lol. Last the lobster rolls... What to say other than heavenly?! Seriously, the best lobster roll we e had was at a coffee shop? Believe it people, it was fantastic. Coffee and baked good we ordered were good... the reason for the 1 star rating was for the manager (middle age Woman) training employee and constantly bad mouthing the Starbucks coffee company in the hiring process.... like it or not the Starbucks company amongst a few others have educated Americans consumers about coffee and made the coffee scene what it is today.... a word to the manager, if you will talk poorly about something and or someone make sure you don't do it in front of your customers.... because in that case you had a Partner of Human Resources from the Starbucks company seating right next to you in your store and let me tell you that this type of behavior reflect very poorly on your company and all of your staff that had done a great job serving us. read more

Came here for hot chocolate for my son and an iced matcha tea for myself. The owner (I assume) was so friendly. He asked if I had tried matcha tea before and warned me that it was earthy and bitter. He suggested some sweetener so I added vanilla. It was delicious. He gave my son is hot chocolate and gave him a free cookie to share with my other son. Great service and drinks! read more

We found this little gem on our recent trip to Bar Harbor. My husband loved their coffee. I am not a coffee drinker, but I fell in love with their white hot chocolate. It was the best I've ever had! We went there every morning of our trip for coffee, white hot chocolate, muffins and quiche. The owner's were awesome and we enjoyed getting to know them. Stopped in for a little pick-me-up while exploring the town. We ordered frozen Almond Joyous (made with almond milk) and a frozen Acadian Turtle specialty lattes. They were both excellent, but definitely more on the dessert side so we can't comment on the actual coffee but we were impressed and will stop to try something else the next time we are in town! read more

We were on vacation in May and one of the stops our cruise ship made was at Bar Harbor. It is such a cute and friendly town. While we were visiting we stopped into Coffee Hound since we are dog lovers and the name alone was eye stopper for us. We ordered their Acadia Turtle and let me tell you- IT WAS AMAZING! So good that we almost went back in for another but we didn't have enough time and had to get back on the ship. Had an excellent maple leaf latte here on my trip to Acadia. Prices were pretty high and they didn't have many food options, but the latte was just right. However they were quite busy, had only one person making drinks and the line was out the door when I left. read more

No gourmet coffee here. Service was excellent, coffee was moderate, pastries and treats were pretty good (and fresh). I wouldn't visit if your a looking for great coffee. Probably comparable to a base level coffee shop (better than McDonald's and Tim Horton's). Not as good as Caribou, Peet's, or Starbucks. read more

On a trip to Bar Harbor, we were in search of a good cup of coffee. The Coffee Hound Coffee Bar is conveniently located near the water on Main St. While it is literally a hole in the wall with room for about 10 people, the place has enough charm to make it feel like a coffee shop hang out location. The owner quickly greeted us and immediately made us feel like we were long time friends. We started off by trying an iced coffee. It was very smooth and mild tempered. After the owner touted his Lobster Roll, we decided to return for lunch to eat this Maine Special. The recipe was the owner's Mother's and it was fantastic. If anyone is looking for a good lobster roll check this place out. Once again, on the suggestion of the owner, we tried the Cadillac Cooler to compliment our lobster rolls. It was the perfect drink for a warm day and made the lobster roll even better. read more

Small but over the top great coffee shop. Latte and tea we had was excellent but the best was the Lobster roll we shared. Lots of lobster, good sauce, on a buttery roll. It lived up to the owner's glowing description. It really was one of the best in the area. I am certainly an espresso snob. I did not have any hope for finding decent coffee in this nice vacation town, and we tried several places and they all were probably just OK. However, we stumbled across this place, and had a really great experience. what I really wanteded was something like Cortado, and they didn't really have a struggle with it and it really came out nicely. My kids had several fancy drinks which involved different flavors and such, and they loved it and really thought that it was well done. read more

We got two lobster rolls that were definitely not as big as some of these pictures indicated, and they changed their pricing to $16.99 with a pickle and a small bag of chips. They do put dill on their lobster roll recipe but it was dried dill which really lacked flavor...another disappointment. I guess the rolls were good but from what the other reviews set me up to expect I couldn't help but be disappointed. read more

Very very disappointed. Our first meal at Bar Harbor . Very sad. We felt very mislead by the other Yelp reviews. Lobster roll is kind of fishy. About the same as what I got at panera bread in Boston. Acadia turtle latte is too sweet. Blueberry pie is ok but like high end Pop Tart. Blueberry muffin is very dry and tough like a softball. Go there for coffee but nothing else. read more

Lots of different choices which is nice. We went back twice. First time we ordered mango smoothie and caramel latte frappe. I asked if they used fresh mango but they said they use puree. The smoothie was good. The caramel latte frappe tasted like pure sugar. It was impossibly sweet. The next day I ordered a vanilla latte and it wasn't sweet at all! I thought they mightve forgotten the vanilla syrup. Hard to gauge the sweetest here. It's either overwhelming or non existent. read more

The coffee is fine (though no better than average in a real coffee city like SF). However, BEWARE: they only sell VERY LARGE cups. The smallest latte was 16oz., which is a ridiculously large amount of milk for a mid-afternoon drink. We did not check the menu first, but just asked for regular lattes, so we were shocked by the size. The price for the size was not out of line, but it was out of line for a standard order. IMHO, they are definitely taking advantage of tourists who expect the standard order to be somewhat like everywhere else in the world. If they offered a wider selection of sizes (or for those of you who like giant cups of coffee), I would have rated them four stars. read more

My husband and I went to bar harbor for our honeymoon and went here more than a few times! We loved the coffee and my husband usually hates little coffee house coffees, usually only drinks dunkin donuts., he also has never bought a lobster roll from anyplace since when he lobster fishes and can make them or always had his grandmothers. The lobster roll here was delicious! It was made just like my husband grandmother's with just the claw and knuckle. The owner also gave us a blueberry turnover which was delicious, and the Cadillac cooler and Acadia sunrise were amazing as well. Friendly service and a nice atmosphere. Jen and Chris know their business! They have some great coffee options and a HUGE menu. The double lobster roll is really to die for. They are located right downtown, across from a park with some of the most beautiful views of the ocean. Only drawback is they don't have parking, but they are totally worth a short walk! read more
