I also feel as if they are putting out day olds for the glazed, old-fashioned and the buttermilk bars. I normally buy a couple of donuts to eat over the next couple of days, so I am well aware of what a day old donut tastes like. The past couple of times I've gone in, the donuts that I bought early in the morning already tasting like day old donuts. Hard and slightly gummy. I will probably give them one more shot, but after that, it's off my list

It was really amazing. I don't want to be too dramatic here, but I honestly can't think of a better croissant I've had outside of Paris. It was flaky and buttery and just right. Next time I went I tried the vanilla cronut, and it was equally good. The vanilla icing was perfect and just the right thickness, and the consistency and texture of the cronut itself was just perfect. I think this place is by far the best place for pastries I've found in San Diego County - and I've only gone twice. I can't wait to try all the other items I've seen in the pastry case.

It was a flavor bomb. The ratio of espresso to milk and foam was perfect for the cappuccino, and one of the things that I appreciated was that the lid was not plastic; it was made of paper like the cup. They are an Italian bakery, so they had many delicious looking pastries, which I'll have try next time. They're located in a little shopping center, so there's plenty of parking.

I'm a huge fan of the Italian minimalist approach to sandwiches: every ingredient's a shining star, especially the bread. truthly, I'm also a huge fan of the American-style where the filling's supersized and point of the bread's to keep your mits clean. Dolce Aroma's definitely on the less-is-more end of that sammie spectrum. they succeed spectacularly. the wife-unit had the POSILLIPO (prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, arugula, and olive oil on a warm baguette). I had the VESUVIO (prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, Italian cream, fig jam, and arugula on a warm baguette). the bread was perfect with a dense chew. love the sweetness of the cream and fig jam, nice counterpoints to the salty prosciutto and the peppery arugula. thoroughly enjoyed my sandwich. my only gripe is with the price point, an issue I almost never raise. nearly twenty bucks is a lot to spend for a sandwich. the ratio of what you pay for to what you get here's a bit steep. I'm mostly okay with that but be aware.

Things bought: Raspados (1 fresas cremosas and 1 strawberry), elotes puercos, equites, and some pan). Food: Raspados flavors were really good and not watered down at all. What I liked about these raspados was that the ice doesn't melt fast and nice ice texture unlike other spots I've tried in SD county. The esquite has been one of the best I've ever found here in SD county (I've tried so many trying to find the right one since moving here 9 yrs ago!). Fresh corn, perfect amount of cheese with great taste, and just delicious. Elotes puercos had this sauce that I wish it was offered in the esquites as a flavor. PLEASE NEVER CHANGE THE RECIPE of this sauce!!! I tried 3 different types of pan (cochinito, oreja, and this white yellowish ball). The cochinito had a strong after taste that I didn't enjoy. Oreja was ok and I actually did eat, would of liked more of the glaze on it. The white yellow ball had no flavor at all (I'm assuming it was butter with sugar but still no flavor) but the bread itself was tasteless as well. Ambiance: Pretty clean and organized, bright pretty color tones. Customer service: Was greeted as soon as entering and every employee was very attentive and with a friendly attitude. Great job to all of you! I will definitely come visit again, I don't care that your location is about 1hr away, THIS SPOT IS WORTH IT. Please open one down south area in SD County.
