Nice looking place and nice concept. We really wanted to like it. Commissary appears as a trendy coffee shop like those found on the west side of LA. It has large windows, clean design, and one of those hipster looking pastry display cases by by the bar. This is where the magic ends. Food and service are completely sub par. Staff seem tired, confused and overwhelmed with their job. The bored sleepy cashier was handling money and also handling the pastries with bare hands. Food is, well, gross. I was even surprised how uninteresting my latte tasted. Eating the smoked salmon toast was like putting a greasy ball of margarine in my mouth. The five or so capers were from last year. The bread was fried to kingdom come and the salmon was poor quality. All that after waiting 20 mins for it. They were prob looking for the margarine vat. We also had some sort of eggs and biscuits. All I can remember is finishing this and feeling like I ate a bag of flour. The coup de grace was the avocado toast. The staple of any self respecting hipster, it should be green, healthy and tasty. This avocado toast was a few measly pieces of avo, some pickled onions, and a strange tomato sauce. All of this on top of fried to hell margarine bread. read more

Totally disappointed with their Smoked Salmon Toast. I used to enjoy this, but the last couple of times, this dish was not as delicious as before. The bread was not toasted as before with a delicious crunch, there was no capers or chives. They must have a new cook, it doesn't look as appetizing as before. A local coffee gem. I was so excited that commissary opened in Glendale. Since opening I have been a regular here. My go to is the Cubano iced with oat milk. When I come here to study they usually play my favorite artist erykah badu. I love it! The employees are super friendly and have great style. I enjoy coming here and think it's a wonderful spot to come study or get work done. Also if you get the chance try the sparklingly tea! Loved my first visit to this coffee spot in an "off the beaten path" area of Glendale. Ample outdoor seating and plenty of work space for those wanting to put in some hours with coffee and (kinda) loud music. Highly recommend the sparkling hibiscus tea. Perfectly sweetened and fizzy. Ginger cookie was yummy. I would pass on the biscuit, more like bread than biscuit, but studded with peppers, etc. Will come back to try the coffee. read more

I love their chai iced tea. I usually get it with a non-dairy milk. Oat milk is probably my favorite. Highly recommend! After experiencing this place, I cannot drink the one at Starbucks. The Starbucks drink just tastes like sugar now, and not in a good way. I have yet to try their breakfast, but it always looks delicious when I see the orders coming out when picking up my drink. This place is great if you want to go on a date for a quick bite to eat otherwise if you're a student looking for an outside place to work, I do not recommend this establishment. I've been here a handful of times and the issues are still the same. Not only is the wifi difficult to connect to but apparently the customers believe this place is a fucking free for all. People all around me weren't wearing masks and social distancing is impossible with the tables provided. The staff needs to better inform folks that they need to wear their masks when they aren't actively eating or drinking. I understand that's difficult to do while trying to run the coffee shop but at least put signs outside and inside and have employees remind folks when they're cleaning tables. SOMETHING! We come here pretty often and always enjoy the Salmon Avocado toast for Breakfast. They have great coffees and a variety of espresso/cappuccino selections. Staff is friendly but remember to go pick up your food since it will sit on the counter if you don't remember. read more

Another gem in my favorite Kenneth Village. I am surprised to see 3,5 stars, I have been going here almost daily and everything is good and very consistent. At times it gets really busy but hey that's a good sign. The coffee is tasty, the food and desserts are also very good. The employees are the best, always warm and friendly. So I decided to come back since I work remote. The only problem I had with this location was the barista/cashier was extremely short and rude. I asked her for something and she never responded. When I asked again, she responded with "I heard you" in the most disrespectful and rude tone. All their drinks are so good! I have tried their hot vanilla cappuccino, cold brew and iced matcha with oat milk and I love them all. They also have fresh and tasty breakfast! The location of the cafe is very convenient and parking is usually never an issue. The cafe is new and very clean, which I appreciate. The only flaw is that their music is always way too loud and I personally can't get work done here for that reason. However, for those who can work in loud environments, they did add additional tables and chairs on the right side of the cafe since its opening. read more

I love pretty much everything about this place. It is located in a really cute area called Kenneth Village, which is a tiny block you can walk in less than 10 minutes, but there are super cute shops around to peruse as well. Parking is also easy to find. They have a lot to park in behind the building, or you an find street parking. I love their avocado toast and their cookies. Their drinks are pretty spot on too. I absolutely loved this location! It's a cutie village with cafes and little boutiques. The Burbank location gets way too packed. This location was nice and clean, and there was more seating. We enjoyed our cold brews with their amazing chocolate chip cookies. Also their potatoes are to die for!! A must try! Their coffee, pastries, and food is high quality and worth the price. Great drinks food, but severely overpriced. Been here a few times and it never ceases to floor me how insanely expensive every item is. (Yes, they even charge for water.) Additionally, the staff is hit or miss in terms of friendliness and competence. For the prices, the service there should be grade-A, but instead, most of the crew behind the counter act like they don't want to be there and it's incredibly slow. Even when it's not that busy, a meal from the menu with no customizations or modifications can take 15+ minutes. If prices were 20-25% lower, then this would be a kinder rating. My coworker knows I've been trying to get Yelp Elite so he's been recommending places to try. Coffee Commissary is where it's at. It's down the street from where I work. I came in at 1:30p to get lunch. Breakfast burrito it was... I got the brisket breakfast burrito and it was pretty damn good. Wished it was a little bigger, but that's me being a pig. The brisket was tender and I really loved the dynamics of the sunny side egg inside. Typically we're used to scrambled eggs. Not this place. They broke all of the rules and they're better because of it. The yoke acts as a time release into the burrito, adding more depths of flavor you wouldn't otherwise get. There's cheddar and avocado with pico de gallo as well. When I got to the end of my burrito, one corner had brisket and the other avocado. What was I going to finish with? I was torn. If this ever happens to you finish off with the brisket. Eat the avo corner first because it will get messy. The service was great. Everyone was genuinely nice. The ambience was perfect. I'd come here to get on my laptop and bust out a couple of reviews for sure. There's outdoor seating as well. I intend on coming back to try some of their coffee. I don't leave reviews typically, but because of the terrible service I received today, I had to. One of the baristas working there today was terribly rude. It unfortunately feels as though they are devastated with their jobs and take it out on the customers. I simply asked if I could get more milk in my coffee and she stated something along the lines of no, well you should have asked for less ice. I'm sorry, but how would I know how much ice she would put in my drink to begin with. She could have made the situation very simple and the customer happy by simply taking the drinks and dumping out a slight bit, adding milk on top. Other coffee shops re-make the entire coffee for you if you don't like it to your preference. Not only this, but she was just VERY rude, and the guy taking my order stood there, did nothing, but stare. Overall, terrible coffee and horrible service, including intense attitude. I will not be coming back here again most likely. I should have listened when others said not to in the first place because they also got attitude and coffee was not good. Also tried the brunch brisket bowl, which was very crispy fried potatoes topped with two sunny side up eggs, brisket, and hollandaise.
