This place is divey and I kind of love it. I feel like I walked into my mom's old hippie friend's kitchen/living room in east bum-f Maine. Tons of old, cheap kitchen tables and chairs and old, used and abused sofas. The coffee was great, although the older woman behind the counter made it seem like "a medium black iced coffee" was a hard order... I also got a chocolate chip cookie. It wasnt fresh...and a little burnt and crunchy but not in a good way... but I ate it anyway because theres no real such thing as a bad choc chip cookie. There were other good looking sweets, but Ive yet to try. There are big bins of all sorts of coffees... the bins remind me of what I see people put dog food in and they don't look super clean...but again, it doesnt turn me off as much as it just makes me laugh. This place is somewhat easy to miss. It's located in a plaza by the old PIP store that really has not much else in it. The place itself is OK. I'm not huge on coffee, but they don't have a whole lot of other options for tea or chais for people like me. The coffee smell is kind of overpowering an the staff is pretty annoying. You're better off going to The Coffee Factory down the street for more selections and quality if you're looking for a local coffee house, Dunkin' Donuts alternative. read more

If your single-serve pre-packaged coffee maker - and IMHO waste producer - is plumbed unfiltered into your local tap water source, you're probably going to be disappointed. If, you remember when DD once sold really good coffee or if you fondly recall a time when only A&P stores had the best beans you could get, please get up here and support this business. If walking into a place for the first time and being offered a brewed cup of Jamaica Blue Mountain or real Kona peaberry roasted in-house excites you, or if you understand and appreciate the differences between Italian, Vienna and Full City roasts, definitely get over here immediately. I usually wouldn't give a new business a 5-star until I'd been back a few times, but I have been checking this strip mall for a couple months eagerly awaiting the time when this place opened, as I had a feeling that it might be what we've been looking for. I don't know exactly what the plan is for food and other things here yet but I can tell you that I believe I've finally found a fantastic coffee source in this region. Finally! The beans are all organic, far above fair trade, slow-roasted and available in many unique varietal iterations. Barry is an incredible wealth of experience and information in the coffee trade, and genial and personable to boot. No "Baristas" here. They are having coffee tastings on Friday evenings, which I believe will draw devotees from all over the region. I hope they don't get, in Yogi Berra's words, "so popular that nobody goes there any more." It's in a funky strip mall with a paintball store, a novelty store and an Indian grocery among others, with plenty of parking and easy access from I-93 or 213. Go and enjoy. read more

This is a hidden gem, locally owned/operated. Owner is very knowledgable and passionate about coffee! I'm a Starbucks snob and even order coffee direct from Costa Rica ... but I've now switched to Coffee Coffee! We recieved it as a gift and my whole family is now hooked. Their Gourmet Blend has all of the flavor, fullness of Starbucks but without the burnt notes. There is a blend for every taste (even if you don't like it as strong/bold as I do). Also, their hot cocoa mix is the best I've ever! Don't be put off by the strip mall location -- trust me you'll be glad you went. I understand from someone who used to work there that they have great homemade food too so that's next on my agenda. It's great to be able to support local businesses as well! read more

Exceptional coffee. This place is for the serious coffee drinker. Ice coffee comes with coffee cubes so your coffee doesn't get watered down. I also had lox on the equivalent of a polish bagel--a bialy. It was fantastic. The service is extremely friendly. Place is absolute garbage. Spent 10$ on a lox sandwich which I could have gotten else where for 6 or 7$. Also got a side of home fries for 3.50 and it was the smallest serving size I've ever seen for 3.50. Made a comment on it and the server made a statement saying that they used 2 whole potatoes. Like are you kidding me, wtf did you use baby potatoes? The whole environment is just weird. The owner is some fat older guy who just sits there and tries to spark up a conversation, real annoying. He was mentioning things like how his coffee is organic and other places like Starbucks the coffee is harmful. When I heard that I knew this guy was a liar and no longer trusted him or his establishment. I can honestly say I've never gone a restaurant and wished people the worst. But for this place I hope the go out of business, serves them right! read more

Grilled cheese and bacon sandwich hit the spot, a little expensive, but not a disappointing meal. The coffee was nice too! This place is an absolute gem! The owners are very friendly and the coffee is incredible. They import their coffee from all over the world and freshly grind it for you, depending on which coffee you choose. I walked away with a pound of the Puerto Rican Yakkoma, which is to die for. Their coffee is 100% clean and organic and I strongly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good cup of coffee. Their french toast is also heavenly. I will definitely be back soon! read more

They are serious about their coffee here. I walked in and the owner was roasting and sharing coffee samples. I like how their coffee has less caffeine than what is typical, and all are low acid, so it doesn't give me a stomache ache. Their coffee tends to be aromatic but not particularly strong or bitter. I really like how the owner really cares about coffee and seems to really want his customers to do the same. read more

First time in coffee coffee and it was a good experience. I read the past reviews and have to agree with all of them, even the bad. The owner was there and we sparked up a conversation and he helped quite a bit. The girl at the counter didn't know anything though which means they don't train well and that is a big problem for others reviewing this as well. The decor was pretty bad although I loved the roaster which is out for display. I had a breakfast sandwich and it was great. The reason I came was for the ice coffee cubes. It was cool even though I didn't let them melt much. I also tried the Hawaiian kona coffee and it was delicious. All in all I was very satisfied. I'd rather pay for good food and coffee rather than paying for a comfortable place to sit. I'll order it to go and sit on my couch. Even though the counter girl wasn't knowledgeable she was cute and that is all that matters. Adding a tv or two, more comfortable chairs, or just some music playing in the background would help. read more

This place was unexpectedly delightful. Yes, you may be able to get a bagel for less elsewhere, but these guys make their own bread and coffee like it's an art. I've had a lot of coffee on this side of the country and this cup was by far the most impressive. I walked into coffee coffee expecting to get a cup of organic coffee to go and I ended up with much more than that. The knowledge Barry bestowed upon me with enthusiasm and willingness to educate was exceptional. He was a great salesman with the product to back it up. He demoed the aero press coffee maker told me why it was the best then let me sample an espresso made by it. And the bean options!!! They all smell amazing yet so different. It is a bit pricey at first glance however the quality of product coupled with a more than "fair trade" price for farmers. He pays the farmer directly about four dollars more per pound than average (impressive! Fair wages for farmers!) I left with a new aero press coffee maker and 2 1/2 pound bags of coffee. I haven't had good quality coffee like this in a very long time. I have been telling everyone I know about this place. Please try it for yourself it is amazing!!! read more

Great place to go for a quite, relaxing cup of coffee. I've had a few meetings in here and it worked out nicely as there is a Wifi signal for your laptop. They serve food too however a few times I ordered, they never had the items available to make said dish. Seems like they are new to the "food" side of the business but coffee if a different story. They roast their beans right on site and the coffee is great. Just be aware that because they roast them on site, they do not have decaf. I went to Coffee Coffee for breakfast. I had the house blend, and it was just a great cup of coffee. The chocolate chip pancakes with whipped cream were fluffy and gooey. The clerks know their coffee! The coffee is amazing. The Sumatra dark roast is the blackest roast I've ever seen, and yet, is smooth and full of flavor. Prices aren't the best, but quality is great, and the staff is knowledgeable. The staff will also recommend machines for coffee making, as good coffee needs good machinery. read more

Saw this place on my way back to Methuen, and I nearly got into an accident slamming on my breaks. I am glad I did. I have been backsince, and both times the owner/roaster has talked about the different roast or blend he was recommending and why. Coffee is roasted daily so it always smells amazing when you walk in. This place has a very cozy feel to it, and is one of the more welcoming coffee places I have walked in to. A few more details. Food is served, but my rating is based on coffee as I have not had any of the food. Espresso drinks are served and are pretty tasty. Several types of coffee available both whole bean and ground. The owner does try to put his spin on things, so you may have to ask which one he recommends for you (1/2 the fun). This will be my new go to for fresh whole bean coffee, and when I stop in I will be having a capp as well. read more

They roast their own organic fair trade coffee that you can buy or you can just get a cup to go and the stuff is delicious. Came in for breakfast on Father's Day around 1130 as everywhere else around was Jam packed. Always drove by so decided to check it out. When we walked in they had a musician playing live music and a few other tables were in the restaurant. We ordered our BREAKFAST around 11:50 and as everyone knows should take no more than 20 minutes to come out. After waiting a few for the food me and my fiancé looked at the time and it was 1:15 and still no sign of our food or any update by our waiter. While the whole time the owner of the restaurant was sitting a table away and not a worry in the world while the only 2 tables left in the restaurant have both been waiting over an hour for there food. Was tired of waiting so when I finally said something I told them to make the food Togo and that's is when they started cooking after ordering over an hour ago. When I went to pay I did not even get an apology, all that happened was the owners wife said to the waiter give them 10% off for waiting. I now know why no one ever talks about this place or goes to eat here! read more

We walked in looking for a good pound of coffee for my boyfriends parents for Christmas. We were ambushed upon entering, the salesman was not interested at all in what we were looking for, and he would not stop talking long enough for my boyfriend and I to discuss which option would work best for his parents. Every time I tried to speak he would talk over me. We picked something so he would stop literally hovering over us, and left with a $15 bag of decaf coffee for two daily coffee drinkers. Would not go in here again. And had to go elsewhere for another bag of coffee with caffeine. read more

I've been here a number of times, and while the coffee is delicious and does keep me coming back, that is about where the positives end. The food is not very desirable, they keep the same pastries in the display case for weeks & say they are "fresh" until they are sold. One day I was talking to the girl who was working there (I believe she has since left since I do not see her anymore) she suggest I do not order any food other than breakfast & even that would be a gamble. She went on to tell me that the owners buy "meat ends" from other places to cut costs & if something looks bad they just try to hide it rather than get rid of it. Before this conversation, I had only ordered food twice. The first was a bialy breakfast sandwich or something like that, it was alright but nothing I'd order again. The second was a burger. It smelled odd, tasted salty & did not sit well with me. The owners do not seem very nice or professional. The male owner spends all day on his laptop playing Scrabble where all potential customers can see. As a customer I do not want to see the owner sitting there playing computer games while everyone else is working it just seems extremely unprofessional. The owners also pretty much don't leave you alone while you're there. Also they are very rude to each other & their employees... IN FRONT OF THE CUSTOMERS. I've had a few bad experiences of this. One time I was talking to one of the young, pretty counter girls who had almost finished telling me about all the great specials & such they had & the female owner comes out of the back, walks right up to me and completely interrupts the girl just to begin telling me everything the girl had just told me. How rude is that!? She then proceeded to just stand there, just a few feet away from me the whole time I was completing my order and getting my coffee as if she was either watching me or waiting for the counter girl to mess up so she could correct her right in front of me. It made me feel very uncomfortable. On many occasions I've noticed the male owner speaking very condescendingly towards either the female owner or one of the staff while I was sitting there having a cup of coffee. Why would you do that with customers in your shop? As I've said the coffee is VERY good, but I would suggest keeping your order to the liquids and not sticking around the shop very long per visit. read more

Coffee Coffee is wonderful, yet fairly hidden, gem nestled in a small plaza off of S. Broadway. The atmosphere seems to be more relaxed than restaurant-esque, but the food is absolutely delicious and well prepared. While the food exceeded expectations, the numerous flavors of coffee are the main attraction. Although I tried only two flavors, the Colombian Supreme and Puerto Rico Yakkoma, the owner, Barry, explained a wide range of the flavors to me and gave a crash course on their origins. I ended up walking away with a pound of Puerto Rico Yakkoma and a coffee maker. I was pleasantly surprised by the experience and will definitely be returning in the near future! read more

This place is absolutely incredible! I had a bialys which is like a bagel crossed with an English muffin with a little caramelized onion in the middle with onion, egg, and cheese. It was a perfect size and so tasty! My girlfriend got a turkey club panini with the most amazing macaroni & cheese. It was absolutely mouth watering, with hints of numerous types of cheeses. It was so good I ended up ordering my own panini and macaroni and cheese. The overall theme of the restaurant is very calm and soothing. I will absolutely be back for the espresso rubbed baby back ribs with the watermelon BBQ sauce. If I hadn't eaten so much I would have absolutely ordered that too on my adventure at Coffee Coffee! read more

I found Coffee, Coffee a few years ago. Owners and staff are great - Barry and his wife, Sean, all the other staff are always helpful and friendly. Their coffee beans are imported from small producers all over the world. It's roasted right there on the premises smells and tastes incredible. We are former Starbucks fans - while I will still grab the occasional cup from Starbucks and Dunkins, we ONLY buy our beans from Barry. Wait times for food can be a little long on occasion if there's a bigger crowd, but we expect this as it isn't a full fledge food operation. Everything they make is with lots of love - all homemade and delicious. The atmosphere isn't anything fancy, but it's always comfortable and inviting. I would highly recommend it. read more
