Welcome to Coffee Heaven in the form of a gigantic coffee roaster, 25 varieties of coffee beans in vintage coffee dispensers, bags of coffee beans everywhere, and murals of classical Renaissance-inspired figures guarding the coffee. Instead of greeting us or explaining anything politely, he repeatedly rushed us, saying we needed to hurry up and order because they were closing soon. When I calmly asked what time they close, he avoided answering and instead said, "I need to get out of here," and told us to pay quickly so we could leave. What made it even more confusing was that there were still multiple people inside sitting and working on laptops, clearly not being rushed out the same way. When I asked about that, he rolled his eyes and essentially ushered us out the door. I completely understand businesses closing and wanting to wrap up for the day, but there's a respectful and professional way to communicate that. This felt unnecessarily hostile and unwelcoming, especially for a neighborhood coffee shop. Based on this experience alone, I wouldn't return.

I love the benches and table out in front, I always try to sit there because this stretch of Union intersecting with Fillmore is totally bustling. The 45 bus stops right in front so there's always people milling around. It's great for people watching and for being in the middle of it all. Sometimes you can see the Michael's Liquour store cat (located across the street) walking in the front of their store. The inside is basic and could probably do with a remodel. The coffee roaster in the eating area makes it looks a little cluttered. For coffee it's pretty standard but they are one of the only coffee places I know that sells hardboiled eggs, pie, and a Borgia.
