My son has been going twice a week for 5 months so far and shows no sign of losing interest.

Sadly both Joseph and the Zane Grey mansion are gone... but not forgotten.

They have some very interesting classes, and if it wasn't for the price point I would love to try them all! We made bread dough, strawberry rhubarb jam with balsamic and pepper, ricotta cheese and mustard that we flavored ourselves. The instructors are really great and helpful, and I learned a lot about the basics of cooking some of these standards. I baked the bread the next day at home and it tastes amazing! I was a little afraid to go solo, thinking everyone else would be in groups, but that was not the case at all. There were some couples, a few sets of friends, but a lot of people came on their own. So don't be afraid- just go and you might even make a new friend! They served coffee, tea and scones in the morning and a really great lunch of vegetarian lasagna and salad, plus incredibly delicious warm chocolate chip cookies. In other words, you are very well fed throughout the day and go home with a full belly and all of the treats you made in class. Plus, there are goats on the property, as it is a dairy farm. Any time I get to get up close and personal with goats it is a win in my book!

1000% would recommend this school in Pasadena/Altadena! Raven is fantastic, was able to take me…read moreduring COVID with social distancing and safety measures in place. The location is set up just like a bar with music and dim lights to mimic the real environment, not like a lot of other schools where it's like a science classroom. Flexible scheduling for classes, I couldn't speak highly of the course. Biggest plus is they guarantee job placement when everything is open again, but Raven and the recruiting team were able to find me a full time job within a month of graduating even in the middle of COVID. Already saving up to send my mother here, as it's always been a dream of hers to bartend and Raven has worked with all ages and backgrounds so I feel very comfortable sending her here!

However my issue is with the fact that they advertise the ability to come back and brush up on the course for all alumni free of charge, but this is not true. If you try to do this, they will not return your emails or calls. I've tried to sit in on a course and go back for a day or two to brush up on my skills and they will NOT return my calls. They always say "so in so" will call you back and NEVER do. DONT advertise this as a selling point if you aren't willing to fulfill especially when so many other schools offer this.

Maybe you just like comedy in general, or maybe you wanted to challenge yourself to do comedy in a language that isn't your native one. When you show up to class, you don't really know what to expect. The word "class" brings many weird associations to all of us. I was never good at school, so I didn't know how this particular type of school would work out. I'm just so, so insanely grateful now. Corey has been a phenomenal teacher. He just has this ability to find the funny in you. He has this ability to help you understand comedy and see it as a craft. He's a good listener. He has little to no ego. That's one of the many things that makes him so good. You're not just there to listen and take notes. You'll be on stage early, first in front of your fellow students and then in front of up to 120 people. Being on stage like that can be a life-changing experience. Even though you're expected to joke and be funny, don't treat the class as a joke. You soon realize how much work goes into being funny, and that a five-minute set can feel like an eternity. You're forced to cut things out. You're forced to make your jokes better and more direct, sort of similar to how you're forced to keep reading this review of mine. Don't wait until you've done an open mic first. Don't wait. Don't be scared that you're not funny enough. Just show up on Sunday at the oldest comedy club in LA and do your best.

Corey and Andrew are legit coaches that have a lot of experience and can coach you to present your best sketch. I also have a lot of new friends from the class, my classmates. These courses are available for adults and children. Classes take place inside the historic Ice House. Their air conditioning is the best of all the comedy clubs I've attended. That's important because I run hot.
