We've been with Alpha Co Tutoring for six years now, and while the academic support, private…read morelessons, and debate classes have been excellent, what I appreciate most is the mentorship they provide to students. Sometimes children don't always listen to their parents, and having mentors who have recently gone through high school and college themselves can make a huge difference. The tutors help kids feel comfortable talking about everything..from choosing classes and exploring potential majors to managing academic stress and navigating student life in general. Their guidance has gone far beyond tutoring. They have genuinely invested in kids' growth and confidence over the years. Highly recommended!

I do not recommend sending your kids here. A lot of immigrant parents who don't know better send…read moretheir kids here through connections. There are two tutors here: Jenny and James. Both were terrible. They spent so much time expecting you to do the problems or write essays while they sat there on their phones for like 60 minutes. The last 15 minutes were spent reviewing and giving me advice. Jenny spent more time being my therapist than teaching me the material and made me watch YouTube videos instead of just drawing it out and explaining it to me. She should've assigned that as homework and then gone over it afterward. I know more about her entire life story moving from a different country and dropping pre-med than I do about AP Biology. I also later found out that the head director there, Jane, scammed my parents for more money. Right before I submitted my college essays, she asked my parents for hundreds of dollars to help pay the tutors since they supposedly weren't doing well economically. My parents couldn't say no because my college essays were on the line. What disgusting behavior to put parents through, especially when they were already paying thousands for tutoring sessions. I'm livid because I only found out two years later. As for James, he probably spent 90% of the time on his phone and 10% helping me write my college essays. I have evidence as well. He was so unwelcoming and would get annoyed with me if I didn't understand the advice he gave me. I would dread going to his sessions and feel extremely uncomfortable the entire time because he would just sit in front of me behind a glass frame, glancing up from his phone from time to time while I typed away on my laptop. I would never be able to ask follow-up questions because I would be met with so much attitude.

After reading the other negative reviews, I'm in agreement with those who had a terrible…read moreexperience. I went to Dov for an exam I haven't received results for yet. The exam was fine, though I don't think it's a Covid-safe environment (if you're worried - the computers are all in a tiny room, and only separated by cardboard. While we were distanced at 6 feet and masked, it's hard to believe that it's safe for that length of time). The check in was awful. We were all sent emails to arrive 45 minutes in advance (12:45), or we would be locked out. Myself and 2 others arrived 55 minutes in advance (in LA, being 10 minutes early isn't strange). One of the others with me had taken the exam prior, and was retaking it. She had driven down from Sacramento to be there. She said she had seen someone scolded at the prior exam in New York for coming too late, so she wanted to adhere to the emailed instructions. We went into the lobby of the building (a tight area that could barely fit the 3 of us, certainly not at 6 feet of distance), and saw the door was closed. Inside, two women were eating lunch, with their backs to us. We knocked, as the door said "Knock as a test is in progress" on multiple signs. They didn't acknowledge us or turn around in any way, so we assumed they hadn't heard. We knocked again. Again - no acknowledgement - not a wave or even a glance. We knocked a third time, slightly louder. One of the woman stormed over to us and yelled, inches from us, that it was their lunch break, and to get out and come back at 1 PM (15 minutes after we were told we would be locked out). She had no mask or face protection on while yelling. The other proctor was coughing repeatedly during the beginning of the exam, so it's safe to say, if we get COVID, it will be from her (I've been social distancing since March and haven't seen another person, as I work from home). Meanwhile, one of the other attendants with me was in tears - she came from an abusive home background, and being yelled at triggered emotional trauma for her. And then she had to go in and take a test! I can't imagine she'll do well, and feel bad for her going through that. I haven't been yelled at in that way, since, well, probably sometime when I was 5? I have no problem with authority figures or following basic instructions at all, but politeness is pretty easy to manage, especially in these tough times - and we were literally following *written instructions* at every step. All three of us. I'm genuinely appalled at the behavior of the proctor at this facility, and I can't believe they allow this behavior to continue. I assume this is the person mentioned in the other reviews. I hope this place gets shut down. It doesn't deserve to remain open, if this is the service they are providing (and, yes, I will report this elsewhere).

I'm good with that. It's very quiet and she enforces the rules. I knocked on the door, she opened up, and briefed me on the process. She took my belongings and safely stored it in a locked file cabinet without touching any of it. I took my exam, She printed my results, Got my stuff and I left. STRAIGHT TO THE POINT. FACILITY - I dropped a star because this place is unorganized and filthy. The floors looked like they haven't been vacuumed in months and someone was potting house plants inside. I was a little grossed out to touch the computers because of that. The place isn't massive enough that you can't vacuum daily. There is no excuse for that level of dirtiness especially if you're open and trying to compile with CDC protocols. I also dropped another star because the lady wasn't wearing a face mask. She wore a face shield but nothing covering her mouth. Not cool. Wearing a face shield does not replace having to wear a mask.

My youngest boy is in the Parents & Me program in which we can participate together. As a parent, I really like the way that I can study with my youngest one in the classroom. Not only did I learned some basic Chinese words, but I also learn some games or activities that can engage my kids in learning. Though we spent 2 months on the waitlist, I think it worth the time. My little girl always shares the new songs or stories she learned in the class. And I'm glad to see my oldest boy can read and write more and more Chinese characters now. Also, the staff here are very kind, they allow us to make up classes when we miss the classes sometimes.
