And the director, Danielle, is such an angel. Every morning she greets all the families. She's so involved and invested with all the kids. She steps in with classes when the teachers need her, she's a gem! The school also has an amazing selection of after school classes that my daughter loved! From ceramics to sports, your child will find a class that interests them! And our teacher, Miss Miriam was so amazing with the kids. She gave really personalized parent teacher conferences that showed she really knew the kids. Highly recommend for anyone in the local community to send their kids here. The teachers are all very nice, caring, helpful, communicative and friendly. Each classroom has a different color door, which is a fun way to differentiate and identify them. There are lesson plans for each day written on a board outside the classroom, which helps keep parents informed. There is very good communication between the teachers and parents, as well as from the parent board to other parents. The classroom sizes are small, and there are a few teachers per class, resulting in a very low ratio of students-to-teachers, with lots of personal attention. There is tons of fun and exploratory play for the children, some music days, and the children are always coming home with new arts/crafts type of things from fun projects. So much more than just a preschool; LCFCC really helps children and parents be part of a community!

Foothill Progressive Montessori is a truly exceptional school that we have had the honor of sending…read moreour daughter to for the last two and a half years. Run by Ms. Kanthi and staffed by a truly excellent array of teachers, including Ms. Chrissy, Ms. Kim, and Ms. Fatema, Progressive has been instrumental in the growth and development of our daughter from age 3 to 5. With the guidance of Progressive, our daughter gained admission to our first choice private school, and one of the most competitive schools in the state. Over the years we have come to deeply value the warm, thoughtful environment of the school. Birthdays are truly special occasions frequented by princesses and superheroes, exceptional art is made with the guidance of teachers, and the educational rigor is unmatched. With the dedicated guidance of Ms. Fatema, our now 5 year old daughter can read, write, and do basic arithmetic at the level of a late Kindergartener, winning the admiration of family, friends, and admissions directors alike. Just as important, Progressive has allowed our daughter to find her voice, speak up and give her opinion, and instill her with a level of confidence that wows everyone around her. While perhaps less well known than other preschools that profess to be "feeders" for the competitive Pasadena private school scene (and who charge accordingly), Foothill Progressive is exceptional in that it stands not on a name, but the merits of its teachers and genuine commitment to the success of its students. Our daughter's success is proof that this is what truly matters. Thank you, Progressive Montessori, for everything you have done for our daughter and family. You deserve nothing less than our highest recommendation and we encourage all parents in La Canada, Pasadena, and Altadena to join your wonderful community.

Ms. Kanthi was my teacher and now she owns the same school and teaches my kids! She is absolutely amazing! All of the staff are incredible. Ms. Fatema, Ms. Chrissy, Ms. Kim, Ms. Sumudu, Ms. Raquel, Ms. Angelica, Ms. Hazmik. Literally every single one of them. All of them treat the kids as if they were their own, so much love and patience with the kids. My kids love going to school and they actually get excited about learning. Ms. Fatema's science class has been amazing in instilling a love for learning for our oldest child. We can't wait for our other kids to take Ms. Fatema's science class and Ms. Kim's science class. My oldest is definitely ready for kindergarten solely because of Ms. Fatema. The school has great hours for working parents from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM. Hot lunch is available for an additional fee. The school goes all out for all of the holidays and graduation. There are lots of opportunities for parent involvement should you want to be involved. The environment is screen-free and true to the Montessori method.

As she now moves on to her next school, we're incredibly grateful to Foothill for taking us in during a hard time and helping her flourish. Our son started his journey at FPM when he was three years old in TK. He continued through kindergarten and first grade, and looking back, we truly feel that these early years gave him the best possible start to his education. Foothill has provided him with so much more than academics. The Montessori approach helped him develop independence, confidence, curiosity, and a genuine love of learning. He started reading in kindergarten, learned how to build lasting friendships, and developed skills that we know will continue to benefit him throughout his education. By the time he was in 1st grade, he was confident in public speaking and presenting in front of an audience - thanks to the motivation and guidance of his teachers. What has meant the most to us, however, is the care and attention he received from his teachers. In particular, Ms Dushy, Ms Princess, Ms Rebecca and Ms Daniella (TK and Kindergarten) and Ms Sherene and Dr Bodner (1st grade). They were exceptional in recognizing his individual needs, encouraging his strengths, and helping him grow not only as a student but as a person. They placed such an important emphasis on kindness, respect, responsibility, and developing strong values and work ethic. As our son moves into second grade, we can see just how well Foothill Progressive Montessori has prepared him for this next chapter. We are incredibly thankful to the teachers and staff who played such an important role during these formative years. Foothill Progressive Montessori will always hold a very special place in our hearts, and I would highly recommend the school to any family looking for a nurturing environment that truly develops independent and confident young individuals.

This review is long overdue!…read more We've been part of the Rayuela community for the past five years, and it has truly become more than just a school, it's become our family. Both of our children (who are very different from each other!) have thrived here. It's clear that Rayuela is a place that supports all kinds of learners and personalities. As a non-native Spanish-speaking household, the language aspect was especially important to me. Both of my kids have grown comfortable not only with the Spanish language but also with the diverse cultures that come with it. I'm confident in saying that I have bilingual learners. The teachers are absolutely wonderful and kind. They treat my kids like their own. Even though the school is play-based, both of my children have shown strong academic growth. My oldest was more than ready for kindergarten, and my youngest is on the same path. I can't say enough good things about Rayuela. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a warm, caring community where their child can grow socially, academically, linguistically, and holistically.

For us, it has been the right blend of a progressive, child-centered curriculum with just enough structure to feel familiar to both of us who went through traditional schools. I would encourage anyone looking for a thoughtful environment that helps students discover who they are and to appreciate the process of learning to at least tour and explore what Walden can offer. When we toured for Kindergarten, we kept coming back to how "right" Walden felt. Everything from the intention behind the curriculum, the kindhearted approach to meeting students where they are "in the moment," and the enthusiasm the parents had for the school resonated with us. Our oldest child is now thriving at a middle school that is more traditional and "rigorous." But Walden kids do well moving on to a diverse range of schools ranging from the most "selective" and achievement-oriented schools to more progressive schools to public options. We couldn't be more pleased with our decision to choose Walden.

What I appreciate most is the focus on preserving a cultural tradition that is deeply meaningful to us.
