I started bringing my 2.5 year old to this school just before her 2nd birthday. We wanted to make sure that the school we sent our toddler to fit our needs. We toured around to about 8-10 other school/daycares in SGV before settling here. What sold us was that it is Mandarin only, it has experienced teachers, and our toddler seemed to immediately gravitate towards Huang laoshi (despite our toddler normally taking a while to open up to a new person). We also loved the idea of the teachers coming to our home before officially starting to check out the home environment and to see that they cared to get a detailed understanding of our needs and wants for our child. It's not something you normally see happening from other schools. The school does so well in making sure that the toddlers are engaged and help them with confidence to be independent. I've seen my child grow so well here. Her Mandarin has improved so much as she pieces together more words and she's more willing to try things on her own first before asking for help. We are always excited to see what our toddler will come home telling us she learned. Of course, I could keep listing words of praise on how this is a great school for your toddlers, but some of us need to "see it to believe it". So with that said, I highly recommend coming here or at least checking it out and setting up a tour if you're on the lookout for a school or daycare for your child!

They're always very patient, kind, and attentive with the kids, and we love that they send updates, photos, and highlights throughout the day on the Brightwheel app so we always know how hes doing. Some things we really appreciate is that they do so many thoughtful activities beyond just basic childcare. They focus a lot on development and exposure through hands-on activities like coffee grinding, flower arranging, and special events. We sign up as parents on what items to bring such as apples or bananas or whatever that week's activity is. We recently attended their Mother's Day event and it was such an endearing moment especially for a first time mom. Right off the bat we can tell the teachers at Nuoyi honestly care about helping the children grow, learn, and become more confidant while still making them feel loved and nurtured. Ms. Kanthi was my teacher and now she owns the same school and teaches my kids! She is absolutely amazing! All of the staff are incredible. Ms. Fatema, Ms. Chrissy, Ms. Kim, Ms. Sumudu, Ms. Raquel, Ms. Angelica, Ms. Hazmik. Literally every single one of them. All of them treat the kids as if they were their own, so much love and patience with the kids. My kids love going to school and they actually get excited about learning. Ms. Fatema's science class has been amazing in instilling a love for learning for our oldest child. We can't wait for our other kids to take Ms. Fatema's science class and Ms. Kim's science class. My oldest is definitely ready for kindergarten solely because of Ms. Fatema. The school has great hours for working parents from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM. Hot lunch is available for an additional fee. The school goes all out for all of the holidays and graduation. There are lots of opportunities for parent involvement should you want to be involved. No Halloween, no Valentine's, they won't even acknowledge your child's birthday. Not this this is of much importance, but it is something I wish I would've known. As parents, it was incredibly difficult to continue sending our daughter into an environment we no longer felt confident in her safety of the school or PUSD leadership's judgment. Our concerns extend beyond one classroom or one teacher. In our experience, Principal Dr. Hill did not provide the level of leadership, transparency, or accountability we expected when seriously concerns were brought forward. We repeatedly left conversations feeling that our concerns were minimized rather than addressed directly, an dour confidence in the administration quickly eroded. Parents, teachers, and aides had all brought up concerns to the principal before the teacher's actions escalated to a criminal level. She did nothing to prevent harm coming to students. To be fair, there were a few positives. Our child loved making friends and there are caring staff members who genuinely want the best for students. However, trust is foundational and once that trust is broken, we could not justify keeping our child there. We ultimately withdrew from the district entirely. Every family's experience will be different, but I believe prospective parents deserve to know that serious concerns arose during our time there and to ask detailed questions about school culture, supervision, and how concerns are handled before enrolling.

I am bilingual Japanese but grew up in the US so naturally I am more comfortable speaking English. I try very hard to speak Japanese in the home but I wanted more cultural/language exposure for my 5 yr old. I heard about this school from a family member and instantly knew that I made the right decision when I met Miki Sensei. She is so creative and full of energy. I really appreciate her motivation and dedication to the students. She understands that Japanese is a second language for most of the students and tailors her class accordingly. My child really enjoys coming here and looks forward to Japanese school every week. Homework includes tracing hiragana and practicing pronunciation for this level. The classes are very affordable. Classes are from 8:45-12:15 Saturdays with breaks in-between. You bring your own snacks/drinks. PTA is very organized and parents are involved in touban twice a year. Their new campus at Roosevelt school is beautiful with a very large grassy field and two playgrounds.
