Thank you for your response. I appreciate the explanation of your service model, but my concern was never about being turned away -- it was about how it was handled. The individual who spoke with me and presented himself as the manager was dismissive, cold, and showed very little courtesy. He seemed excited to turn me away. I've been in this profession since 2005 and understand capacity limits, scheduling, and busy operations. What I don't understand is treating a customer as though they are an inconvenience, especially when the shop appeared empty at the time. What made this more frustrating is that the same person who interacted with me in that manner is now responding publicly as the owner. I thought you were the manager sir? The tone and attitude I experienced in person did not match the response written here. After leaving, I went to East LA Uniform. They were extremely busy with multiple walk-ins, yet the owner still took the time to welcome me, get everyone taken care of, and make me feel like family. She recognized my request for what it was and took the time to recognize she appreciated the business. They spent about 30 minutes on my boots and delivered the best shine I've ever had -- and at a better price. The guys are pros and I always pass inspection. They are conveniently located off the 405 freeway. If you decide to wait there are some eateries next door. They have tons of parking in the back. It's been a great 20 years, Code 7. I'm sad to be moving on. I went to the Police Academy in Orange County, but have worked for an agency in Riverside County. I would drive my boots and gear out to Long Beach, drop off, and wait around Long Beach or Orange County for most of the day before picking up my gear and getting back on the freeway. I've recommended Code 7 to countless cops over the last 2 decades. Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end. Since my Tex Shoemaker leather gear was new, no one but Code 7 has maintained and shined my gear. Tex closed their doors for good in 2017 and now my shoe shine place is gone since they can no longer do same day service. Unfortunately for me, I drove 70 miles to find that out. My husband and I walked in today, after being referred from a place in Torrance, the area we live in. They told us that Code 7 does in chair "spit shine". No one was there except 2 workers. One was Joshua. My husband wanted to sit in the chair & get a shine. He said he had to drop them off. Joshua spoke broken english, so I, being a Mexicana, intervened and began to speak to him in spanish to make the language barrier more clear...because he told my husband, "they were busy". I then said, no one is here, why does he need to drop them off? Joshua then pointed to a stand and said all those need to be done by tonight. Therefore all the "drop offs" are in front of any walk-ins. Joshua tried to explain that they do take walk-ins, but not when they're busy and also, since my husband also had Louboutin Red Bottoms, that they would take more time because they would need to be taped around the sole. I explained to him, that this isn't our first shoe shine and we know how the process works. I have been coming to code 7 for many years. They usually do a good job. I have noticed over the last couple of years the declines in the appearance of the inside of the shop and the employees may be on parole. They definitely do not take pride in there work as they used to. The employees act as if they are doing you a favor to shine you boots / gear. Whatever they say regarding when they will be done is probably incorrect and unless you wait they won't be done. If there is another shine shop in he area I hope to find it. I also notice that they are not as busy as they used to be. There used to always be a tone of boots stacked and ready to go, and several on duty officers getting boots shined. The store has claimed to have a 50% off deal every so many times you get something shined. Each time I have attempted to use this the employees don't know how to do it. 2. I just walked in here and got an ear load of music featuring the n-word and eff this and eff that. Have some professionalism. Things I like: 1. My gear is always ready when they say it'll be done. They're great at understanding how fast I need the turn around time to be since I can't go more than a couple days without my gear. Never had a problem with lateness, if anything, the shiners can have my stuff ready before I requested it. The shine that code 7 can produce is bar none.
