The staff at Bodell's are so knowledgeable and helpful. I have been coming to this store for years. They have a large selection of items. Not all shoe companies have the shoe sizes and width sizes this store has. I never leave the store without buying shoes here. The staff will sit with you, bring you the shoes you want to try on and..... they measure your feet to make sure you are getting the correct size you need. If they don't have what you need in stock, they can order it. I love this store and will continue to be a customer. They are fantastic and I always recommend them to people. Thank you!!!!! read more

Always a pleasure and education to see MrBodell and Shawni the Manager. As always they were able to satisfy my son with a couple of pair of shoes for his PLANTAR FACIA. Thanks Again read more

Bodell's Shoes - *SAMUEL HUBBARD - Performance Walker Mens Shoe. *COLOR- Rust Low Top - Shoe Stores Near Me - Long Beach, California

Service was quite good and thorough. Had a problem during checkout but it was corrected promptly

Nice selection of quaint, but expensive shoes. Purchased a pair of men's shoes and exchanged for a different color a week later. Unfortunately, the exchanged shoes weren't tried on and the fit was different. Didn't want to return them since they were obviously worn already, but I advise you always try on your shoes even if they're just exchanges. Another reason for the 3 stars is because it's extremely inconsiderate to smoke cigars inside the store. read more

Quality ,owner, location , styles , brands not found elsewhere . Worth the drive if u don't live under 5 to 10 miles away

Richard recommended a fantastic pair of Wolky boots for a trip to Europe where it would be cold and potentially wet weather. I walked ten miles (on average a day) and my feet never hurt and were never cold. If you need a specific shoe talk to Richard, he truly is an expert when it comes to quality shoes and foot needs! read more

Bodell's is a welcome respite from the schlock scene we suffer in this century. The store is what shoe stores used to be back in the 1940s and 1950s, with the addition of a lot of footwear from overseas. Quality footwear, too--brands like Taos, Ara, and good ol' Birkenstock. To top it off, it's located in Parkview Village, which is another throwback. Richard, the owner, immediately greeted me and sat me down to measure my feet with the classic foot measure (I learned that one of my feet was bigger than the other). I told him what I was looking for, and while I was poking around the store, he went to the back and came out with four choices, one of which was perfect. I'm glad I discovered Bodell's! read more

Excellent business for those with wonky feet - super selection and great staff. Try the Finn Comforts - sold by very few stores. Expensive but wear like iron. I've worn mine two or three times a week for seven years, and am finally replacing them for an identical pair read more

Quick service and reasonable prices. Mr. Bodell was very nice, and the shop is conveniently located

I stopped in here because Jack's Shoe Repair appears shuttered/permanently closed and remembered ages (25+ years) ago I came here and bought a pair of Florsheim wingtips (my first pair of quality shoes that sadly can no longer be resoled). Nothing like walking into a store and getting that slight whiff of leather. Allen Edmonds and Birkenstock are the only brands I recognized; I was looking for something casual/dressy boots without being worker/heritage like Red Wings. If you like Darn Tough socks (I have five pair myself) you come to the right place. They have a small selection of Saphir shoe cremes as well as a good stock of TRG (not familiar with TRG but Saphir is considered to be one of the finest polishes, so don't let the $9 cost scare you...remember that you're caring and protecting for your footwear). Picked up a couple brushes and the black Saphir, as well as getting measured (since I've been improperly measured since forever) and discovered I'm a 11.5 E left and 12 D right foot. read more

Great service. They immediately size your feet up and know how to fit a shoe to your foot shape better than you would. You give them an idea of what kind of shoe and they will find you perfect selections. Many options there but they narrow it down if you give them input on what you are looking for. Highly recommended. read more

Went in to look at a pair of shoes for my New York trip with my mom. Mr. Bodell was super helpful in getting my shoe size measured. I loved how he measured my feet the old school way and was attentive in helping me pick the right shoe. I purchased a pair of Schutz sandals online from another seller but they peel my feet when I wear them often and explained this to him. Mr. Bodell recommended Birkenstocks (I've owned a pair) and even gave me tips on how to clean them too. I've never felt more well attended at a shoe store. Usually it's the seller following you, but Mr. Bodell was right to the point and helpful. Lastly, shoes are wrapped in a little rope making it feel like old times. Birkens were rightfully priced too. Will definitely be returning read more

Bodell's Shoes - My new Birkenstocks. - Shoe Stores Near Me - Long Beach, California

Recently had my Birkenstocks re-soled by Bodell's. Not only did they re-sole they also helped fill in some cork that had worn down, resealed the cork to protect it from the elements and touched up other parts of the sandals. I couldn't be happier with the outcome! It's so amazing to slip my feet into the perfectly broken in sandals that are like new again (minus the breaking in period that's typically required of a new Birkenstock). I will definitely be back next time my sandals are in need of new soles. read more

This is not your typical modern shoe store. Instead, they are a throwback to a time where customer service and quality products were the foundation of a solid business. My mom took me here when I needed uniform shoes, I took my daughter here when she needed uniform shoes, and I recently introduced my sons to Bodell's when they finally needed high quality dress shoes. They were asked one question: what are you looking for? Then they were fitted and, like a magician, Richard Bodell pulled a few like styles from his inventory and voila! These dress shoes are not cheap, but with care, they will last them until they (hopefully) take my grandchildren to get their own pair of high-quality shoes. read more

This was my first time purchasing from Bodell's Shoes. Superb customer service, like when I was a kid- they actually measure your foot for length and width. And they place the shoe on your foot! I was looking for a walking shoe for Europe-not a running shoe and they recommended a shoe, that I can't remember the name of it... starts with a letter "M". Anyway, it was so amazingly perfect. There was no need to break in this shoe, it was comfortable from the start. We are walking 5 to 11 miles a day no problem! The only time I felt uncomfortable when I was standing for a long period time, once I started walking my feet/legs were fine! On my on volition, (no hard sales here), I saw a sandal and asked to try on with no intention to purchase. Once I put my foot in the Taos Sideways Sandal my foot just gushed right into it. Immediate comfort and no break in period needed! I have narrow feet and love the adjustable straps. I ended up buying both pair of shoes, took them both to Europe. I wore the walking shoes more only because it's so crowded on trains, subways and attractions and didn't want my toes to be stepped on. Thank you, Bodell's for being a part of making my European trip a major success, super enjoyable and the ability to walk all over the cities without my feet barking at me! read more

100% Personal Attention. Every pair of shoes I have purchased at Bodell's is top of the line quality. I refuse to buy cheap shoes anymore. It's all about COMFORT and being STYLISH. Also, I'd rather give my business to a small business rather than a chain or huge box store. Thank you Mr Bodell I love my new taos boots! read more

Excellent service and unusually knowledgeable staff. You will get shoes that fit and feel good! High quality merchandise.

Best shoe store in the area: Excellent customer service and shoe selection Mr. Bodell was helpful and patient as he looked for the best fitting, most comfortable shoes for my husband, who has side effects from cancer treatment, including swelling in his left foot, peripheral neuropathy, and limited mobility. This was the first place we stopped when looking for shoes because we knew they were knowledgeable and helpful. Mr. Bodell was also patient with me, a finicky customer, when bringing out different shoes for me try. Unfortunately, I didn't find what I wanted, but I will return when they get in their new stock for spring. read more

What an amazing shoe store!! Third generation of a family committed to getting the proper shoe and correct shoe size. Mr Bodell is the only one that has measured me correctly. I have been to Snales Pace, Runners High. No one was as qualified. The shoes are amazing quality from all over the world. I have a high arch and high in-step. He told me I was. 10.5 wide. Got me in a shoe that I can walk in and that has helped with my lower back pain. I am taking my kids as well to get them the right fit. It's an amazing place. With people that truly care. Mr Bodell has provided quality shoes for kids that now bring their grandchildren. Please support this dying store that has withstood the test of time and tribulations and still committed to quality. read more

We bought a pair of shoes last week $181.91. When we recieved them by FedEx they were the wrong shoes. We went back to the store and were treated very bad. My wife is Latina and she was passed over by two white ladies that were also. The owner was very rude to her his name is Richard Bodell. Would never recommend any one to buy shoes there. Her money is as good as anyone else. Should be treated with respect as well. read more

One of the most unethical businesses I have ever dealt with in 50 years of purchasing shoes. A classic bait and switch. I was looking for a particular shoe in a certain color and size and his website shoesrx showed the exact shoe. What arrived was not even close, the size was correct, but the color and leather texture and product code was not correct. I am assuming Richard Bodell is grasping to stay in business, he did not return my email and when I spoke to him he refused to discuss the obvious mistake . read more

We went here recently for my mother-in-law, who is in assisted-living and so she couldn't come in person. His kindness and effort in helping us find the best shoe for her is so appreciated. A wonderful, local business. read more

Depends on what you are looking for. If you just want to browse and look around and hope no one talks to you until you are ready, don't go here. I bought a pair and they very comfortable. read more

Bought some Mephistos shoes here a couple of weeks ago. Couldn't be happier. After trying on a few shoes which just didn't feel right the owner suggested try these. This is the best shoe store in Long Beach for good shoes and amazing service. I bought a pair of Taos tennis shoes and a pair of boots. To have someone sit with you, measure your foot, help put the shoes on and make sure they fit properly is such a treat in our world. I'm used to Nordstrom where someone disappears behind the wall and comes out to place the shoes on the floor and walk away- not at Bodell's. Best shoes and service. Hands down! read more

Shopped at several stores for a shoe that would accommodate my AFO. I'd almost given up when I found Bodells on Yelp. I was greeted right away. I explained what I was looking for and the salesman said he had just what I needed. It was perfect and I walked out of the store with my news shoes. When is the last time the salesperson actually measured you feet to determine your correct size? Would definitely recommend this store! read more

Came here for a basic low heel in black since its required for my job but i didnt want to change into flats as well. A bit expensive but the shoe quality here is spectacular as well as the customer service. Family owned place and the owner is very nice and proud of his products that he sells. After a few weeks of breaking them in (oh man was it painful) it was worth the pain as they are very comfortable to wear all day for 5-7 hours on my feet. After a few months the bottom part of my heel fell off on one heel. I took it in and they repaired it free of charge. Wasnt expecting that at all! So nice of them to repair it on them since he is proud of the products he sells he said it shouldve never happened. I will come here again and recommend to others. Worth every penny! read more

I purchased a pair of sandals and, after a couple months, realized the top strap Velcro design kept coming lose whenever I moved my foot. I went back in to see if Mr Bodell could do anything to stop it from happening. While I was waiting for him to finish with another customer, I found another pair of sandals on his display rack that had a different strap design which worked perfectly for me. I offered to pay him the difference since I had already worn the other sandals for two months. He said he would just swap out my old pair for the new ones at no charge. I asked if he was sure. He said yes- "I want to make sure you're happy with your purchase." Now, that is customer service! Mr Bodell has a customer for life now. Great place to buy high-quality shoes. read more

Mr. Richard Bodell was knowledgeable and to the point. He provided a great experience for our family. This is a family shoe store and we came upon it looking for "orthopedic shoes" for our son. While my wife and I were expecting these type of clunky type shoes, we were surprised by the New Balance shoes that Mr.Bodell offered. His advice was on par with what our pediatrician had told us. As a matter of fact, Mr.Bodell knew what the issue was even before we sat down. I highly recommend this family store for all of your shoe needs. read more

Go to one of the few genuine shoe stores anywhere. After foot surgery I require custom orthotics. I walk in and tell him I want a black dress shoe and show him the orthotics. I tell him I like responsible shoe companies. "Me too" he says. He measures my foot and says "I have a couple ideas, I'll be right back." As he unpacks the two options he gives me a history lesson of the two companies, their responsible business practices, and laces up a shoe. Previous brands they used to carry are no longer in the shelf. I ask why. He tells me manufacturing has moved to other countries with questionable practices, reduced quality, and same higher price. Anyway both options fit perfect, nice leather, similar price, and I am stuck. So I end up with the SAS Made in USA! Last year I bought 2 pair of Birkenstocks and Made in USA flip flops! I repeat: Do Go to one of the few genuine shoe stores anywhere. read more

I bought a pair of New Balance shoes today. Richard saw the problems I have with my feet and recommended the New Balance shoes with more support. If you don't need to go to a podiatrist for specially made inserts, you can come straight here for what you need to feel supported and comfortable. I've been here before and Richard is a pro at finding what you need quickly. He and his staff are great sales people providing old style customer service.
