Pulled pork salad with Sweet potato and pomegranate
Stevie M.

Need some greens in Dublin City Centre? Look no further, Cocu is a healthy oasis! Having eaten and drank extremely rich food in my first few days in Dublin I decided that the midweek lunch had to be dominated by greens. The ordering system is great in Cocu, despite there being a long queue when we went in it moved pretty quickly. The set up is simple, you order a meat, sides and toppings all served up in a box or if you're sitting in a plate. I went for the pulled pork, on sweet potatoes and brown rice. It came beautifully garnished with pomegranate and drizzled in balsamic vinegar. This was absolute perfection. Sitting in was a struggle as we went at 1pm but we managed to nab a table just as another group left. There's free water and they also make a fantastic flat white. A perfect lunch destination for those who are watching what they are eating!

Smoked salmon & avocado egg breakfast pot.

Great. Lovely lovely food that's not bad for you here at Cocu. I've had the Bircher Muesli, which is very nice. And it can be got quickly too as it's prepacked, in the fridge. At 3.50 EUR, it's just edging past value for money for the amount you get, but when I've not made it myself at home, it's very handy to have it ready to grab here. I've also had the Smoked Salmon & Avocado egg pot once and that was very nice. The avocado was nice, the smoked salmon delicious and the egg buttery. For 5.25 EUR, it's a grand breakfast, good quality stuff in there. I still need to try their lunches. But if their breakfasts are anything to go by, I'm looking forward to it. One thing I'm not a a fan of was the coffee. But that's more me than Cocu. It's this new small sized coffee that's sold as a regular sized coffee. This phenomenon has appeared around Dublin in recent years with the hipster movement. It looks like it's here to stay, but I will be avoiding it. The potent flavour does nothing for me. Final word to the staff, who are extremely nice. Cocu is something fresh, different and healthy. I'm a fan and a new regular.

Beef Flank w/ leafy greens, sweet potato and seeds

Healthy, tasty, generous portioned and great value food. You order by picking a meat, then 2 salad options and can top it with a choose of 3 things, e.g. seeds, nuts, etc. I've tried many of their options and all impress, my fave is the middle eastern chicken! They do offer a breakfast menu but for me, this hasn't really impressed, over priced and not very flavoursome... For me, it's all about their main salad menu. Prompt and efficient, great for a quick grab. There's plenty of seating in this branch so it's a great place whether take away or sit in. Their menu, for a first time visitor is a lot to take in and I feel the staff could do a little more to help those break it down, I know it makes sense but it's a lot to take in when you're eying up the menu and staff are looking to quickly serve them, if you spot a newbie, why not help them... A quick friendly bit of verbiage could speed things up :-) You can pre-order for collection for groups which is great for lunch meetings, saves time and makes the meeting more productive!

I've been to the Baggot street branch a number of times which is a lot smaller and more aimed take-way, but this branch which is right opposite the Iveagh Gardens is very big with lots of long tables as well as outdoor seating. It's all about salads here, where you choose a main dish, 2 bases like brown rice, leafy greens (sweet potato and slaw cost extra), a sprinkle like nuts or seeds and then you can add anything else for extra charge, like tofu, quinoa or more meat. If you eat in it actually costs 50c extra, but maybe that is because you get your food in a proper bowl as opposed to a take away box. The only thing was that it's not very cheap, and I couldn't see it as a daily lunch spot but more of an occasional treat . I don't really know why slaw costs extra while something like brown rice doesn't, but my food had hardly any slaw at all so I wasn't very pleased with that bit. Also I don't really know what the extra veg topping is, as it seems the exact same when I order it with or without.Toppings range from around €2~3.50 which is a bit much especially since you only get a tiny amount. But the food itself is very tasty and healthy; I would have given 5 stars if it weren't for the price, especially with much cheaper competitors which give more like Chopped and Sprout. The service is good, they are very efficient in general and the coffee is great too. Overall: Great for a casual healthy lunch but a bit on the pricier side. Food: 4/5 Quality: 5/5 Value:2/5 Service: 4/5 Atmosphere and seating: 5/5

A great choice of healthy salads here. The option to build your own salad is handy as you can choose all the options that are best suited to your personal taste. They are also very efficient so for people on the go you can be in and out quite quickly even when there is a bit of a queue. My personal favourite is the pulled pork option (which comes with courgetti, raddish, pomegranate seeds and tangy dressing), choosing spinnach and baked sweet potato with hummous and the seedy topping. The only flaw about cocu is that they are quick to run out of their stock and sometimes you can go and there's nothing left that you like- which can be a bit of a let down. But when they have it it's super tasty!

There was a bit of a line when we stopped in, but everything moved quickly and the employees were very friendly. I ordered the chicken Tokyo bowl and this was may have been one of my favorite meals during my trip. The chicken was well seasoned and the variety of vegetables all added a nice bite (particularly the pickled cucumbers, broccoli salad, and chilis). They're heavy-handed with the sauce and furikake seasoning, which was nice, but it did end up being a little salty. The servings are large and could definitely make two meals!

All the bowls sounded so so good it was difficult choosing... but I landed on the chicken cashew crunch but subbed fish instead of chicken. Holy moly was this flavor explosion of yumminess. There was sweet and tang and crunch and chew. The cashews were a great touch to balance the softer rice and broccoli salad. The herbs and lime were refreshing and there was so much of the food! It was a fast order and they make it on the assembly line. We snagged seats outside. There is water and utensils you can grab. Super easy and efficient process, wish I could've tried all the bowls!

Visiting Ireland for the first time, I did my best to read up on good places to grab breakfast,…read morebaked goods in Dublin and Brother Hubbard popped up on a few lists, Reddit posts, so I put it on my list to try and I'm glad I did! I walked in on a Wednesday morning, right as they opened at 9am, and was seated immediately. The sit-in part of Brother Hubbard is bright, relaxing, spacious with plenty of tables inside and there's a patio outside with plenty of tables as well. The waitress came over with a menu and gave me plenty of time to look it over. She was very courteous and pleasant, checking in throughout my time there, never hovering. For breakfast, I ordered an Americano, a ginger scone, and their Irish Oat Porridge - Classic. Their porridge is organic oats made with milk and with ordering it as "Classic", it was served with cream and honey. Starting with the ginger scone, this was another case of a perfectly baked scone - Crispy, golden exterior with a moist, buttery interior. The flavor of ginger was perfectly balanced and the raisins inside were a nice supplement to the scone. The porridge was really good, I loved the creaminess of it! Both did a nice job of filling me up and setting me up for the day of walking to come. Funny enough, around 3:30pm, I stopped here again to grab a mid-afternoon treat and ordered the chocolate and hazelnut Babka, their soft bun filled with chocolate and toasted hazelnuts. This pastry was crazy tasty! A slightly crispy exterior with a croissant-like inside chocked full of chocolate and those toasted hazelnuts. This was so rich and truly decadent. Brother Hubbard is a gem of a breakfast and pastry spot! I appreciate the relaxing café environment with friendly staff and high-quality food. I know if I come back to Dublin, I'd come back to grab breakfast, or perhaps another Babka.

Brother Hubbard is a solid spot for breakfast and brunch, serving entrees, lighter fare and offers a pastry assortment that will have you pondering about getting takeout. I visited Brother Hubbard on a Sunday, half an hour after it opened and was able to be seated immediately. However, the brunch rush came afterwards and by the time I left, the entire place was filled. It's popular. And yes, it's the same spot Phil Rosenthal ate at. I even saw the owner who was featured on the show here, helping out with clearing tables and so forth. I ordered the traditional Irish breakfast and an iced chai latte. The food was good and actually, not as heavy as I anticipated. It came with an egg, sausage, bacon, beans and a pudding, which I had to look up. It's ground meat with oats and is molded into a patty. It didn't taste bad, so can see why it's served around these parts of the world. And the meal also came with another item I had to look up, colcannon bread, which was a potato bread with kale. And it was my favorite part of the breakfast! Delicious. If you're looking for a breakfast spot in Dublin, then I'm pretty sure you already know about Brother Hubbard, which is popular, all for good reason. The food was tasty, service was friendly and I loved how bright and welcoming the restaurant was. I was satisfied.
