    breakfast sandwich

This spot was close to my hotel, so was a very convenient brunch location. More of a sit-down restaurant vibe, but the service was super quick which was much appreciated. The food and drink selection was good ( definitely catering towards an ~American~ crowd). Prices were fairly expensive considering what you get, but you are in more of a touristy area.

The service here is very quick which was nice. I ordered an oat milk latte which was pretty good. I also ordered the brioche sandwhich with avacado and halloumi cheese which was not bad. I wish the guac on the sandwich had more avocado pieces than just mashed. Overall not a bad experience and the inside is pretty cute as well.

Visiting Dublin and needed some breakfast while waiting for hotel to get our room ready. Normally you need reservations bc it's not a big place but it's clean and has a good layout. They accommodated the 2 of us and it was delicious!!! I got the strawberry cheesecake French toast, a flat white and my daughter got the make your own pancakes and an iced latte. $40 for all of it and it was delicious!! Hope to go back before we leave

Decent food, great location, friendly staff. French toast was very yummy, good vegetarian options

Food was great, atmosphere was better. The views of Howth's waterfront were to die for. Get the pancakes!

The pulled pork breakfast was the best but three of us got pancakes and loved them! The service was great and the view upstairs is gorgeous!

Bright cafe with a variety of food options for gluten free and vegan, right off the river in Dublin. We split the Avo Toast with gluten free bread. Service was friendly and knowledgeable about GF options.

This was the best brunch I've had in my life! The pancakes were PHENOMENAL! We got the breakfast board and a side of poached eggs and I literally couldn't fathom how I got so lucky to have found this place without recommendation! Please eat there, and eat there again because I can't! Highly recommend: - Straberries + nutella on pancakes, they give you so much - beetroot chai latte (it's pink and pretty and DELICIOUS) - breakfast board (split between 2 people)

Absolutely loved food. The communal tables made it hard for a large party to get seated but this place has such a wide range in menu options for all sorts of dietary needs (vegans to meat lovers alike!) and picture-perfect food too.

    Really excellent salad

Last week I embarked on something I had never, in all my 32 years, tried. Not eating. For six days…read more Yes, that is six full days. Instead I drank juice. Juice for breakfast, juice for lunch, juice for dinner and even a 'treat' juice as a snack. Honestly, I was unsure if I'd be able to get through a day, never mind a full six, but I gave it a bash. Lo and behold, it was easier than I thought. Perhaps because I was so full to the brim after Christmas of stodge and booze, that going the opposite direction towards fresh fruit and veg, was actually a pleasure. There is so much goodness packed into each bottle, I felt a little like I could feel the vitamins and minerals absorb in my body, like a superhero that had been on downtime for a while, getting fueled up again for the next watch. Granted, there may be a bit of a placebo affect taking place here, but you can be sure that those very vitamins and minerals are all counted and present too. The theory of a juice cleanse is after you replace all meals and snacks with juices made from (preferably organic) fruits and vegetables, our bodies are free from toxins (or freer than they were before). We are able to ingest a lot more fruits and veg by juicing rather than eating (if you've ever seen the amount that goes into one glass of juice, you'll understand this), so this enables a lot more nutrients to go into your body. Finally that it sets you on the path of eating more healthily after the stringent period is over. Having never done any of this before in my life, I decided to go the easy route and have some professionals do my juicing for me (just to get me started ye see!) My first three days were with Juices by Ginger (review to follow), and the next three days were with Dr Juice. I would recommend going down this route if you're new to juicing - these guys have brilliant machines and know the right ratio of ingredients to make the juices palatable (unlike my attempts since) So, Dr Juice. You get a full three days worth for €60 - that's 12 juices in total. You can either pick them up in their Temple Bar quarters (Staple Foods), or they'll deliver for a tenner. There's a full 500ml of juice in each bottle, which is labeled to show what exactly is inside and how long it's good for. They also come with a little leaflet giving you some tips on the cleanse, and how to ease yourself off it at the end. Here's how the juices go: Morning: The Green Goliath. Containing spinach, kale, cucumber (though I asked for it without this most evil of all vegetables), celery, apple, lemon, ginger and spirulina. If you haven't had spirulina before, it's got quite a pungant taste, so get ready. It's got a myriad of benefits though, so it's great that these guys include it - most of the other juices I've seen literally only include fruit and veg. Lunch: Beet Boxer. Containing beetroot, carrots, apple, pear and lime. This was really delicious and a pleasure to drink Snack: Orange Juice. I found it hilarious that this is called a 'treat' juice. Mainly because it's made of more fruit than veg. It contains carrots, apples and ginger. Again, delish. Dinner: Back to ye old Green Goliath. Really filling with the good old spirulina 'kick' And how the whole cleanse went? Besides some difficult moments when "friends" were taunting me with burgers and various forms of cheese, I was surprised that it wasn't overly difficult. The juices actually fill you up considerably - much more so than any crash diet. The most important thing for me though was to feel healthy afterwards, which I do. As many others before me have reported, I slept better, my energy levels went way higher, and my skin looked great. Now to keep it up! All in all, a really great service and product from Staple Foods. If you haven't tried it, give it a go! Be sure to give them some notice though, as they are busy enough with January detoxers.

Seriously, this is the third shake place I've seen opening up in the last couple months, all bursting with retina-popping colours and retro-hip attitudes. Shakes come in two sizes and are categorized into types of fillings: fruity, chocolatey, biscuity... you get the drift. You get one filling free and can add more fillings, boosts, and toppings if you pony up (all under a euro each). Switching from cow juice to organic soya milk and ice cream will cost you 99c/1.49. I like that the menu's clearly marked as to what IS vegan, what's NOT veggie and what's NOT gluten-free. Another plus is the 10% discount for students and members of the emergency services. I got a passionfruit soya smoothie. They cut up the fruits right before my eyes and used a non-dairy blender. I did have to wait a few minutes as it was busy, but I think it was worth it. The flavours weren't what I was looking for, but I think it's because I didn't anticipate the different taste of the soya. I'm more than willing to give it another try! AND there's a foosball table in the shop, decorated in the logo colours, for a double win. 3.8 hopeful stars from me, rounded up to 4.

The high school-aged kids running the shop have no concept of customer service nor how to keep their workspace clean. The counters were covered in sprinkles, cookie crumbs, dirty ice cream scoops, knives covered with peanut butter, etc. Well anyway, I ordered my milkshake and waited and waited and waited. An entire line of people order and leave with their drinks before they notice I am still waiting. After 20 minutes I finally go up to the counter and ask where my milkshake is and I see the cup sitting on the counter marked with my order. "It looks like we forgot to make it," says the counter boy who was apparently the shift manager--dear God help them. They simply forgot. You think? Best of all, he allows the other employees to completely finish cleaning the counters and only then does he realize nobody has begun the milkshake. He decides to take on the task himself and gets completely flabbergasted when a new person lines up. He actually takes a new order and makes THAT milkshake before finally making mine. Jaw-dropping. Another employee realizes how ridiculous it is that I have waited 30 minutes for a milkshake and give me a card worth one free milkshake. When I go in to redeem my free milkshake, they have run out of the ingredients for the one I want--even though it's one of the popular combos listed on the menu. Needless to say, I will not be going there ever again.

Still, they are very tasty and much healthier than any other snack that you're likely to pick up on the go. Zumo is the market leader in Ireland's nascent smoothie industry, and if you picked up a franchise in the early days, you would have made an absolute killing. The stands are tiny so they'd have eff all overheads, and your only inputs are a load of fruit bought at wholesale prices. I have two little issues with Zumo. First of all, most of the smoothies on the menu contain banana as one of the central ingredients. I imagine that this is primarily for the purposes of viscosity, as most fruits are quite watery in nature, and the banana is required to give the smoothie its pleasant thickness. Personally, I am very fond of bananas and usually eat one every day, but I find that the addition of a banana to a smoothie gives the drink an overpowering banana flavour, which renders the majority of Zumo's menu out of bounds for me. More smoothies with yogurt substituted for banana, please. And this adding a shot of wheatgrass lark? Don't be taken in by the woo-meisters unsupported claims as to the magic medicinal properties of wheatgrass, it is essentially exactly as nutritious as any other green vegtable (marginally less, as a matter of fact).
