We came here for a late breakfast this weekend. We let a 7-year-old decide where to go for breakfast, and he said, "I want some hot cocoa, so let's go to Coco's." This is what happens. I remember always feeling like Coco's was a slightly-lower-scale Denny's, with basic, generic menu items and a strictly 50+ crowd. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the menu has been significantly revamped since my last visit, with a lot more interesting and seasonal items. It was a tough decision, but I went with the Bacon Hash and Gouda Omelette, which came with a side of hash browns, potatoes, or fruit, and also toast, coffee cake, a muffin, or bagel. The omelette was a little disappointing. There were more potatoes than anything else, not even too much egg, so I was glad I didn't order a potato side. They went kinda cheap on the fruit, with 4 slices of honeydew and cantaloupe. The coffee cake was just okay but tasted generic and too sweet, and the hot chocolate tasted watery. Service was a little slow despite the half-full restaurant, and we waited quite a while for our check (which can be tough with an impatient child). On the bright side, it is a nice restaurant interior and we were comfortable lingering for a long time with board games. The boys liked their food, and it's a good place for kids. But to me, the food was just so-so, and didn't really exceed my expectations of a corporate chain. read more

My husband and I were really disappointed with our Thanksgiving meal. I ordered a turkey dinner for my husband and the meat was so processed we couldn't tell if it was turkey or ham. It was round and thin like baloney. The piece of pumpkin pie was ridiculously small as if we had ordered it off the children's menu. I ordered a chicken sandwich with fruit but they forgot the fruit. I understand ordering out for a Thanksgiving meal will never be as good as homemade but we weren't expecting slop. read more

Kinda late review, but I tried to get a hold of the main manager/owner of that location without success. On Easter, 4/12/20, during the COVID-19 closing of all restaurants except for takeout I ordered a large breakfast for both me and my renter. So used to going out for brunch, I thought this would b a great idea and help the Coco's down the street from me. Been there many times prior to COVID-19 to dine inside. This restaurant is NOT even prepared to do anything takeout!!!! I tried to order online, but not user friendly and needed assistance to change/request a few things. The gal that took my order via phone said it should take about 10-15 minutes. So, I waited about 20 minutes at home and arrived in a few via car. When I got in the restaurant with my mask, there was no one else waiting, then people walked in like it was rush hour. There were only 2 ladies (cashier and manager??) there holding the fort! So unorganized and not enough staff!!! After she finally acknowledged me, she said it would be a few minutes-- that took another 30 minutes!! There were 2 cooks behind the counters- one with an appropriate mask covering his face and the other wearing it below his nose!!! He was breathing on all the food being prepared!!! I made a comment to the overwhelmed manager, but she took no notice on that. After receiving my order from almost an hour ago called in, went home and ate. It wasn't worth it. She forgot a few things!!!! That's why I had to call instead of ordering online! Coco's is great when it does it's "routine" in the restaurant, but not at all prepared for all takeout!!! They needed a waitress or two to do this with the cashier and the manager!!! Coco's, you lost me and other peeps that day. You need to check out how a busier place like Cheesecake Factory is used to and organized about a lot of takeout orders. Satisfying breakfast!! Out on the hunt for some tasty breakfast, we ended up at Cocos since other restaurants had such a long wait time. This was not my first choice but I was hangry and needed to be fed asap, or the family would have to deal with the consequences! We were seated promptly. There were other families eating but not too crowded. I opted for something I've never tried before, the Turkey hash with hard over eggs. It comes with fruit and a choice of side. I went for the carrot muffin. My daughter got the omelette and side of hash browns and a croissant. The hubby got some egg dish, I don't recall the name, with a side of pancakes. The meal was pleasant! I really enjoyed it and left satisfied, which I wasn't expecting given the reviews and past experiences. Everything was tasty and we all left happy. You can feel the tension when you walk in the door. Feels like the employees do not want to be there or they are under fire for some reason. Went in last night and looks like they have lots of new servers. What happened to the old servers, they were so friendly and inviting. I found out that coco's is now doing tip pooling. They are taking the hard earned money of the servers and giving it to the cooks. I do not understand that concept. Coco's should give the back of house staff a raise. It is not up to the servers to pay the cooks and back of house staff. This restaurant has been going downhill for the last 5 months. I will no longer dine here. Do NOT come here! My family and I came here for dinner and we ordered breakfast... about half way through the meal my daughter finds a hair in her potatoes. We inform the hostess, which she was amazing & the only reason I am okay with giving this place one star! Anyways she is super apologetic and asked what she could do to make this right. My daughter says she would like new potatoes and the hostess stated I will get that made for you right away, again apologizing. While the hostess was still at the table my son finds a hair in his potatoes! The hostess apologized again and says she'll have their meals replaced. My son continues to eat, thinking the hair was in the batch of potatoes however as he goes to take another bite of his pancakes he finds yet another HAIR! This time the waiter, who was mediocre and appeared to be tired/zoned out/burned out, comes and calls the manager over to our table to show him the hair. The manager looks at the plate and says I'm sorry I don't know what to tell you" I looked at him and said you don't know what to tell me? Really?! How is this man the manager when he doesn't know how to handle a customer compliant especially when it's on behalf of the restaurant?! The hostess was by far more courteous and professional than this so called manager! The manager then says "I'm sorry. I'm having them remake the other food now, I don't know what to tell you, I don't know how this is happening". So I told him this is happening because your cooks have been careless and somehow their hair got in our food. The manager reassured me that the cooks all wear hats. Did you all catch that?! Hats not hair nets! Therefore, I told him well there was hair in two different meals and on three separate plates so obviously something is not working. The manager asked if we wanted pie or see the menu to order something different. No sir we don't want to order another plate just for it to come out with hair, thank you please just give us the check. At this point the manager says he's taken care of the bill which was the only reasonable thing he did since half of everything we ordered came out with hair in it! Had the manager had better customer service skills rather than repeatedly telling us he "doesn't know what to tell you" this review may have been different. If you really want to go to coco's travel the extra distance to go to the location on haven and baseline. Coco's please retrain your staff on customer service and sanitary precautions. My folks are both handicapped & have special needs. Our server, Amy catered to their EVERY need promptly & with a smile. Chef prepared their prime rib dinners PERFECTLY!!! On Saturday July 31, 2021, at approximately 1:07 pm we ordered online thru the Cocos website an order to be picked up by self at restaurant store 511 in Upland California. When I arrived at the location at the given time the manager who was later identified as Jessica Gomez was putting my order in bags. While she was placing things in my bags, I asked her if my soup and vinegar for the fish n Chips, we ordered were in the bag. She said yes. She handed two bags to another staff member who gave them to me. i asked the manager if that was all the order. she said yes and I left the location. When I got home, I discovered I was missing half the order. I called the restaurant and talked to the manager. She began to tell me there was three bags. I told her there were only two I had received. My wife then began to tell her what we received and didn't believe us. She began laughing at us. I told her I would be coming back to the store to be picking up the missing items. Prior to returning to the store, I took pictures of the item we did receive. When I arrived back at the store, she still did not believe I only had two bags. I then showed her the picture I had taken of the food I received. She acted smug in front of her staff and said she would get me the food I supposedly didn't get. I asked her for her name, and she gave me her business card. Then I heard her being questioned by the cooks in Spanish why they were remaking the food I did not get. I understand Spanish and she told them told her I supposedly didn't get the food. They made the food and she told me I can give you a muffin so you can eat it on the way back in your car. This is unacceptable behavior, and I am waiting to speak to a supervisor or District Manager. Scam 2% "Trans Fee" on my check this morning. I questioned them and they said it was due to their credit card processor charging them extra so they are charging extra to cover this. At this point they had NO idea how I was paying. Instead of paying cash, I did pay with a CC since I'm thinking seriously of disputing this. It isn't the small extra fee but the fact that this is a scam and violates all agreements that a company that takes credit cards has with the credit card processor. It is just incredible that a company can try this nonsense. FWIW, I have been a customer of this Coco's for 45 years and have patronized them thousands of times. At one point I was stopping for breakfast at this Coco's every morning on my way to work for around 10 years. This place just continues to get worse each year. What in the heck happened? read more

Dad and I went to Coco's tonight. What a great experience all around. We were greeted kindly and sat immediately. The staff worked together like a well oiled machine. They were very attentive. The meals were quite tasty as well. It was refreshing to be checked on by not only the bubbly waitress but also the manager. The lady bussing the table next to us even asked how we were doing and if we needed anything. Dad really enjoyed the tortilla soup. LOVED my whole experience at CoCo's yesterday! Took myself and my kids to grab a bite to eat. We were greeted warmly by a hostess and a manager. Instantly We felt so comfy & cozy :). Our server, Jaclyn, was very attentive and down to earth, she made suggestions when we couldn't decide between a few of the many great options. The restaurant was very clean, I kept seeing all of the employees cleaning, which is great, cuz I don't like to eat when there are messy tables and/or food crumbs on the floor LOL. My husband and I eat out 2 to 3 nights a week. Most of the time we go to Coco's, where we are greeted and made to feel at home by our favorite waitress, Amy. She greets us as friends and seems to enjoy helping us. Her kindness and genuine desire to please shines through all she does. Coco's is fortunate to have Amy working there. She's the BEST! I am adding to this original review: The food here is usually quite good, HOWEVER; my husband always has a piece of pie after our meal. I have been coming to Cocos often and it never fails that they mess up my order. The "Manager" has Terrible customer service skills, they need to put him through relationship building skills for clients. He gets attitude every time they make a mistake and basically has a tough luck attitude, no empathy what's so ever. It's very disappointing to keep giving Coco's chances and every interaction is worse then the previous one. It's no wonder their rating is lower and lower.
