nice dining room

Great service, nice atmosphere and fresh food but the flavors just fell short. The pad thai was overly sweet and very wet. The squash curry lacked flavor and even at a 3 spice level I had to add quite a bit of chili oil. They got most of it down but the food just wasn't top of the mark.

Stir-Fried Garlic & Black Pepper Chicken--tender chicken coated in a bold garlic-pepper glaze over crisp lettuce, cucumbers, and tomatoes.

Don't overlook this dish--it's one of Coconut Thai's hidden gems. The Stir-Fried Garlic & Black Pepper Chicken delivers big flavor without relying on heavy sauces. The chicken is incredibly tender with just the right amount of garlic, black pepper, and a subtle kick of heat. Served over crisp lettuce with fresh cucumbers and tomatoes, it's lighter than a curry but still incredibly satisfying. Everything tastes fresh, the portions are generous, and the balance of savory, peppery, and slightly sweet flavors keeps you coming back for another bite. If you're looking for something beyond Pad Thai, this is an easy recommendation. Fresh, flavorful, and one of those dishes you'll end up ordering again.

I got the chicken drunken noodles for take out and it was so so flavorful! I love the chewiness of the noodles and it really soaked up all the flavors. Portions were a good size as well. The only thing is the chicken was quite dry and wish it was juicer.

Pad see ew with tofu

I'm visiting from out of state and the friend I'm staying with loves Thai food (as do I). I remembered how good the St. Paul location was when I went last year. We got the pad see ew and massaman curry. The pad see ew was as good as I remembered from the Stpl location. Service was friendly. Restaurant was not crowded or loud. I'd love to come back next time I'm in MN!

panang curry and drunken noodles

BEST PANANG CURRY EVER! also cam here with a big group and they have a nice offer if you spend over $50 you get two drinks for free! worked so well for us

Coconut Thai has a fantastic, convenient location, and the service overall was good. My husband ordered the Thai stir-fried cashews with mock duck and he really enjoyed his meal. Unfortunately, my entree was a bit lackluster. I got the shrimp Pad Thai and the noodles were mushy and could have used a bit more flavor or maybe spice? I wasn't offered a choice on a spice scale when ordering and the dish ended up being very, very mild. Sadly, we weren't offered a dessert menu either, which was a bummer because I really wanted to ask if they had their fresh mango sticky rice in season. Granted it was an hour before closing so they could've been in a rush to close up shop.

Red Curry w tofu

First time in and i really enjoyed it!!! Thai food is one of my favorites and the red curry was so creamy and flavorful I love the fried tofu addition as well with a generous portion of rice to go with it. The food came out really fast! My friend ordered the Thai fried rice with chicken which had a nice taste too! We both really enjoyed our meal if love to come back to try the massman, pad Thai and drunken noodles next! Also loved that you can adjust your spice level I went with 2s this time so was mild but flavorful but I'd try a little higher next time also there was an option to just have the chilli oil on the side to add as we wanted

Came in with cousins and Mom on a very cold night. The Menu looked a lot like a favorite place we visit in Golden Valley / Plymouth area. The good? Staff was quite nice. The food was tasty. However it felt like everything had way too much sugar added. The shrimp appetizers were great. Calamari was greasy and coating fell off the squid. Main dishes were basil tofu fried rice. Quite more sweet than expected. Panang curry was also a bit too sugary. If these dishes would have been less sweet it would have been a home run.

Spring Rolls

I decided to try some different things today, so I ordered the Pad See Ew with fresh tofu. I don't know how fresh tofu differs from tofu (also on the menu) but I preferred it over the chicken I had last time. It was good, but medium spice it wasn't. There was plenty of Thai basil and red & green bell pepper slices as well as onions. But it was pretty bland and the noodles were dry. It needs some kind of sauce. The cream cheese puffs are my absolute favorites because they are crispy like puff pastry and stuffed with cream cheese. For fun, I decided to try the Spring Rolls with shrimp. They were delicious, the shrimps plump - not flattened - sliced lengthwise, lotsa lettuce and rice noodles. I would have liked more cilantro, but then I always want more.

Pad thai with chicken

It's been several years since I've been here, we were shopping in the area and decided to dine here for dinner. They were busy in the evening, we had to wait an hour for a table. Which was fine, we went to check out the stores in the area to kill time. Restaurant is spacious, bright, and clean. Staff was wonderful, paid special attention to my friend peanut allergy since we ordered fried item, peanuts are fried in the same oil. Food is delicious as always. Definitely recommend this restaurant if you're in the area.

Pineapple Fried Rice

Went up to Coconut Thai last weekend. The limeade I drank was really good and as someone who usually doesn't eat Thai food I enjoyed pineapple fried rice. The service was ehhh, not bad, but not the best. But I would love to come back and try other things on the menu!

Drunken Noodles and Panang Curry

Coconut Thai is one of my favorite Thai restaurants by far! The curry puffs are a delicious savory burst of flavor with a crispy outer crust! You can order dishes on the menu with varying spice levels. We get the Drunken Noodles medium spice which is the perfect amount of heat, but not quite burning your tongue off, and the Panang Curry mild. Their dishes come in large portions that are perfect for sharing! The staff is always very friendly and the food comes out in a timely manner.

Great food and good prices considering the 50th and France corner area. We've ordered several times and have never been disappointed.
