Very nice cafe that serve a large variety of things. I came here to try the croissant tiayaki but sadly they told us they had a lot of orders and that it would take them a long time. Of course I appreciated the warning. But the girl over the counter made it seemed annoyed that we wanted to order it. The croissant Taiyaki was sooo good - crispy glaze on the exterior but warm red bean and walnuts on the inside (for the red bean Taiyaki). You have to order at least 2 taiyakis though (idk why but at least you can choose different flavors). Their walnut pastries are little balls of red bean and walnuts - these are calm desserts (warm and not too sweet) in comparison to their shaved ice (their to-go shaved ice size is smaller and cheaper). They also stop serving shaved ice after 9:20 pm and there's a $10 minimum when paying with card. Cocohodo is a fun little place for a snack. We've had the blueberry cream cheese and red bean taiyaki croissants. They were fairly filling and had a great texture. The taiyaki and hodu cakes are on the pricier side and there's a lot of alternatives for it, but they do a good job making it fresh with interesting flavors. One thing I hope they improve on is their level of service. At these prices, you want to come in here for the experience and the good feels. Pretty place from outside, very trendy, almost looks like millennial kind of place. Ordered the mochi and honey but taiyaki thinking it will be the same as the one from Mama from Korea town ( well at least the pic looks like it) and to my DISAPPOINTMENT it didn't look like anything like it. It's so flat and you wouldn't even know it's a fish unless you know what you ordered lol. Very very disappointing. The caramel macchiato didn't taste and looked anything close like it. A very tiny dessert spot located in an area with a plethora of options BUT they have THE walnut pastry which is different and pretty good! The breakdown: Place - small with limited seating. Don't come here if your rolling with a large group. Dessert: I got the shaved ice with green tea ice cream. I have to say it was very good. It wasn't too much like how some places make it but just right. The green tea was not too sweet and was not too bitter. A negative incident I've had with this place is that I came in one time when they were still open and we had at least 20 minutes before closing and we were told we couldn't sit in and they told us off. I know, it's not the best time to go into a place when they are about to close up but at least accommodate us for being the last ones of the day! To tell us what we can or can't order and that we cant stay was a turn off. Honestly not the best patbingsoo I've had. It looks good but flavor wise, it could have been better. The shaved snow was really flavorless, even when mixed in with the other toppings. You do get a good amount for your money but there are definitely other places in Bayside/Flushing that offer better patbingsoo. One might compare it to the Japanese taiyaki, as it's shaped like a fish. The best way to describe it might be a cronut taiyaki, the exterior is flaky, & crispy, & delicious. I always pass by this place on my way to Hmart, but finally decided to go in after lunch at cast iron pot. Happy to report that their shaved ice is sooo gooood! Absolutely my favorite place to come for walnut pastry and bingsoo! It's conveniently located between many restaurants and a perfect spot to come for desserts/coffee after eating. There is also plenty of parking around the neighborhood. I have tried the original bingsoo and the coffee bingsoo. The shaved ice tastes so good! Its texture and consistency is perfect. We ordered the green tea bingsoo which comes with red bean, mochi, nuts, a scoop of green tea ice cream and is topped with condensed milk. You have to mix it as you eat it. When comparing it to Snow Days, the shaved ice flavor does not come through enough. The green tea flavor is present but weak. I find it odd you must order two taiyakis at a time. What if I just want one? Nevertheless, the biscoff taiyaki is what I would recommend. They use yummy cinnamon biscoff cookies as filling. Also, their walnut pastry is also good (it is what they are known for). There aren't that many seats, but that's okay.
