I ordered the salmon with rice and beans, supposedly topped with chimichuri; there was none though and there were two grains of beans in the rice; the rice on the menu said coconut rice but it was just mushy white rice. My partner ordered the jerk chicken, almost unpalatable! The service was lousy and we had to beg for a knife to cut our meal. The waitress pressed the 25% button on the machine for the tip, and meanwhile they added a 5% charge on the bill to begin with, however I only saw this when reading the bill later. All said, there is a great view of the sunset. I'm not sure what the drinks are like. What a disappointment! read more

Nice atmosphere and service. Food was not worth the price. Ceviche not good at all in flavor and marketing photos not even close to what you get. $20 for 5 standard chicken tenders. Added a 5% surcharge to the bill, that was a surprise. All in all disappointed with the food. read more

This place is a huge tourist trap. You see it from the streets and it's so adorable 4 stories high, roof top bar so everyone wants to go. We went today about 2pm on a Saturday, tons of empty tables. The hostess offers the bar which looked cramped or the high tops at the other end, I asked if we could have the open table in middle because it was hot and the table had a nice breeze, she said no because they are only for people who made reservations. We later saw her snap at another guest for trying to sit there as well, she was so unbelievably rude. We ordered Havana good time, it was ok, definitely strong kombucha the coconut drink which was very sweet. We also ordered ceviche, tiny dish with just about 8 pieces of octopus, but it came with nothing to eat on. When I asked for chips the hostess very rudely told me they only have bread, she repeated twice like we were idiots. They then charged us for the bread without notifying us before. Our waitress was very sweet, but the lack of food options, poorly created cocktails and the extremely rude behavior of the hostess, I will absolutely not go back. They need to get rid of her immediately and change a few things on the menu and they could be great. read more

Oceanside needs something like this! The drinks were amazing. Decor and ambiance was perfect for sunset cocktails. Food was perfect and didn't feel heavy and gross after eating a beautiful steak and oysters. Delicious! This is definitely more than a restaurant. This review has everything to do with the intentions of the Manager not so much the experience of the visit... We went to Coco Cabana last weekend. This was our third visit and unfortunately the worst. However, I am still providing 5 - stars because of the intentions of the Manager Isabel. We went on Saturday and had reservations. The service was slow, I believe they were short one or two servers that night. We ordered two of the Havana Good Time drinks. One came out and the other took about 30-minutes. The service was unbelievably slow, and the drink was not tasty! These drinks are made with Kombucha and other alcohol. Both tasted like only Kombucha was used. We complained and the bartender stated "you can pay to add more alcohol". Normally, this would be an acceptable response. However, a week prior they tasted way better and not just like Kombucha. The Manager Isabel came over and asked how she could make us happy. We got an additional shot in the drinks and were off to a better night. For most of the night we witnessed Isabel doing damage control, table by table asking the same question "how can I help make you happy"... I could easily provide a 1 or 2 star due to one bad night. I feel due to the Manager they recovered and we will still go back. This place is not cheap, the portions are not large so the effort goes a long way. David. read more

We came here Friday night. Nice atmosphere, all the servers, wait staff, bartenders, etc were in a very pleasant mood. We sat at the bar and ordered everything. Literally everything.The mushrooms had a good flavor, with a distinct spice. The Waygu was disappointing. It should melt in your mouth but it tasted more like a T-Bone. The prawns were a beautiful presentation, but obviously not a lot of meat. My personal favorite was the Angus Strip. The sauce added a very nice flavor to it. The duck confit was pretty good too. The drinks were subpar. They didn't have ingredients to make several drinks we asked about and others asked too. It's a tight fit up there and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves despite bumping into people. I liked the idea of the coconut drink and the pink flamingo. It's a nice place to go to once to try or maybe twice. Opening snafus are to be expected but not ordering correct ingredient's for a bar shows some lack of organization. The bartender told me that Jameson was bourbon, so the training isn't top notch either. Also, the most disturbing thing was that we were charged a $14 delivery fee for our food. I have no idea what that is for and who , besides our server, actually delivered our food and from where. I swear i saw it come out of the window. That was not cool. Prices were really high for what we got for food, the drink prices seem to be on par with other similar places. Would we go again? Sure, but not anytime soon, and we would only get a drink. read more

I can definitely say I'm a fan of this new local spot! I'm so glad this trendy place has been added in the heart of Oceanside - we needed something like this! The aesthetic is EVERYTHING! Really wanted to love this place as I'm new to the area and it's definitely a cool vibe. I was appalled by the service here though and unimpressed with the drinks. I witnessed strange and inappropriate behavior from 3 staff members. I thought they were just rude and unfriendly, and after a few more minutes realized they were drunk and/or on drugs. We were at Cococabana and Q&A on Saturday night and had a wonderful experience. My wife and I drove up from Central San Diego to meet some friends and were not disappointed. The bustling area in Downtown Oceanside was reminiscent of how the old San Diego beach communities used to be...lively and fun but not overcrowded. The ambiance at both spots was amazing. Super comfortable and welcoming. We ate at Q&A and tried a bit of everything. Selections ranging from oysters all the way to Mac and Cheese left nothing to be desired. Such a fun spot! If you're looking for something more cute and trendy for drinks, this is the place. My friend and I went on a Friday night at 8pm and went up to the rooftop. It was standing room only but we found a spot around the edge and settled in. Oceanside needed a spot like this where you can have a drink, people watch and listen to upbeat music. The wagyu skewers were SO good! We tried 3 drink between the 2 of us and liked them all though they were on the sweeter/fruiter side than we normally go for - Miami Pound Wave, something Sally (?) and can't remember the other. Had a great night at Coco rooftop bar! It has such a gorgeous view of Oceanside, you can even see the ocean at certain parts of the bar!! I sat in Emily's section and she provided excellent service. She was outgoing and easy to talk to which made the experience much more fun and enjoyable! Everything I needed was brought in a really good timely manner and everything tasted absolutely outstanding. The cauliflower dish is really good as well! Fantastic place! We liked this place so much we went here twice on our vacation! I had the lychee cocktail, which is now one of my new favorite drinks! So delicious. Came here on a busy night got seated at the bar right away because the hostess told us there was room. We sat at the bar for a little bit and it was great, we had the o side rider and Havana good time which was fun for us 3. We got sat at our table, Cheyenne was our server and it made the night 110% she recommended the skewers and cauliflower which was perfect. Beers were good but smaller than usual, wagyu skewers were also small and had tough spots, and the fish wasn't gutted or anything. Then there was a surprise 4% surcharge added to the bill. For an $84 dinner we would rather go somewhere else where the portions and prices are more standard for the area. read more
