One of my good friends had been trying to get me to try Hot Pot for some time now. But his go to spot was closed since COVID. However he heard about Coco's from a friend. So we decided to test it out. We came here with 2 other friends so it was a 4 person experience. Food: A So we ordered 3 flavors but separated them into 4. We got 2 chicken broths and a Spicy Thai and Chong Qing Spicy. I can say that all of the broths were really good. Then we got the Beef and Lamb combo for the table. It came with some vegetables and noodles. Also we ordered rice with this as well. So first before everything came out we went to this like sidebar with special sauces and seasonings and stuff to get loaded up first. Then they brought out the broths and set everything up and turned the heat up and brought us the food. Everything was really good. One thing I liked is the ability to make your food how you want it. It was definitely an experience. And it's best to go with someone who has experience in a hot pot restaurant as well. It makes it a little easier to figure out what exactly is going on. Service: B The service wasn't bad at all. The server came out and explained everything to us as best she could, she kinda had an accent, but i never hold that against anyone. But it made it easier because my friend already knew what was going on. So everything was fine. She was nice and got whatever we needed. No complaints Environment: B This place was set up just as you would expect. It had the typical asian restaurant feel to it. There was a good amount of room and everything was clean. Summary: Coco's Hot Pot was definitely an experience. If you are an adventurous eater then i'd highly recommend this place. Especially if you are into the Asian cuisine, then you have to come. It's better to come here in a decent size group, because it feels like Hot Pot is almost made for people to come together and enjoy together. I had been a regular customer here for months. Absolutely loved their American Kung Pao Chicken. It had great flavor and really good, crisp vegetables (onions, peppers, and carrots), but after tonight, I never plan on going back. They changed their online ordering system. They offer two types of Kung Pao Chicken, American and Chinese. The problem is you can't access the American Kung Pao without clicking on the word "Chicken" to reveal a bunch of American options, which is not intuitive. I ordered Chinese Kung Pao Chicken. I have had Chinese Kung Pao Chicken before and enjoyed it, but their version is terrible. They put too much ginger or green peppercorns in it or something. Even after picking them out, the awful taste ruined the dish, and I had to throw it away. When I called and asked for a refund, they refused to provide one saying their payment vendor won't allow it. Preposterous. Just a horrible experience overall. Waste of my time and money. Their online ordering system sucks and instead of issuing a refund to remedy the situation, they would rather rip their customers off. read more

What an experience! So delicious! We got the dual hot pot with mushroom broth and spicy Thai broth. This is the coco hot pot combo, gives you a little bit of everything. The flavors are absolutely amazing, just wow! They also have great chicken fried rice and I enjoyed their house special boba tea (it's like a London fog with bubbles :) I will say the menu is very overwhelming and sort of confusing since it was my first time. Even with our research we had zero guidance from staff about what to order. They did not have any recommendations. We got the dual pot with mushroom and medium spicy broth. We got the Coco Combo and the paste combo. The kids got boba tea. The broth did not have any taste to it. The spicy broth was full of crunchy pepper flakes and had heat but no taste. The mushroom was just mushroomy water. The squid was inedible. The beef was pretty good but fell apart while cooking. The clams and fish got lost in the pot and the veggies were bland because the broth was bland. The paste was interesting. The texture was off-putting for me. The boba tea was good. Please read** My wife was eating Mala Pot when she pulled a sharp piece of metal out of her mouth(see photos). Never in my life have I ever seen a sharp piece of metal in food from a restaurant. Uber quickly refunded our meal and will inspect the restaurant for safety issues (THANK GOD). The restaurant had been gracious enough to replace the order as well due to the inconvenience, but when I went to pick it up, the hostess told me that I needed to pay for the food since Uber refunded. I couldn't believe what I heard. We thought the replaced order was their way of apologizing. If the restaurant were to give us the wrong food, we would have gotten a refund. To ask for a refund AND a replacement when we find a sharp piece of metal in the food, while my wife had it in her mouth, well, then we are asking too much of the restaurant. Imposing an actual threat to our well being is a whole different level of incompetence compared to just a wrong order. They were in complete denial about the situation. I brought the piece of metal to show them but the hostess wanted to take it away from me. She got angry when I told her she couldn't have it. They could have easily replaced the meal, given a refund, and assure us that no one else could be in danger. Instead they chose to act like it never happened and that a sharp piece of metal in our food is a minor inconvenience. My wife is extremely lucky that the piece of metal didn't do serious damage or she would have had to paid a visit to the hospital. They are lucky that no one else found this in their food. Anyone else could have easily been seriously injured by this. To be treated like this wasn't a big deal and the amount of denial that occurred was bizarre. My wife is in complete shock over the situation. We cannot understand how little they actually care about their customers. They chose not to care. They acted like the threat wasn't as serious as it is. I wanted them to do right and make sure everything was fine, but I can't help but think nothing will change with regards to their safety procedures or their care of the customers. I wanted to share this story with the local news but my wife and I eventually calmed down from the shock. We do not think they will change their ways and any negative attention would only be ignored. My wife is Chinese and spoke to them in Mandarin, but she gave up hope for them as she knew they would not give her the time of day. This was our first visit to this particular hot pot location and I think we found our new favorite! The service was quick and friendly and we didn't even need to ask for our hot pot to be topped off with broth when we were getting low. The prices are normalized across the board to other hot pot locations within the city. We ended up getting the supreme beef platter and there was a ton of food! The beef was nice and thin and only took a few second to cook within the broth. The chicken broth had a ton of flavor and the medium spicy broth packed just enough heat for you to enjoy it. The vegetable platter had so many things on it I can't list them all. The bok choy was amazing in the spicy broth and the platter even included a disk of ramen. We split the ramen in half and put each half on each side of the pot: Pro Tip. The two of us had enough food left over to have invited a third person, so the value of the food vs qty was spot on. It was easy to order. The service was very quick. I tried their dual pot with spicy thai and chong qing spicy flavor and they have a lot of options for dipping apart from the combos they offer. Both the broths were spicy and flavorful. My favorite was the spicy thai. There is a salad bar with a dessert and different sauces to go with the hotpot for an extra of $1.99 per person. Apart from the hotpot, we also ordered their warm sake, bubble teas, chicken fried rice, and Singapore noodles. Everything tasted good, especially their chicken fried rice, which was my favorite. I wasn't a big fan of their Singapore noodles the texture and portion was decent, but it was cooked in coconut oil, which I felt was dominating the flavor, and I didn't particularly enjoy it. But that does matter if they don't excel in a few things my primary visit was for their hotpot and totally loved it and the other things were a bonus. I got a small dried pot with shrimp, fried tofu, bok choi, enoki mushroom, flat mushroom & cauliflower. It was good. The spiciness was mild for me (I eat very spicy). This restaurant might have the best staff and service in the world at dirt cheap prices, and I still don't think it would make up for how incredibly bad the food is. I gave them not one, but two chances, hoping the second order might be better than the first. The choy sum? Old, turning yellow and slimy. I don't know if they just didn't notice it was going bad, or maybe they thought the cooking process would hide it. But it had that mildewy smell, like a bag of spinach that you forgot about in your fridge for a few weeks. The cauliflower chili pot? Admittedly tasty, but also of dubious freshness. The general Tso's tofu? Tasted like fryer grease that should have been changed months ago. The texture was chewy and rubbery. The sauce was thin and bland. The bubble tea was bland and they forgot the bubbles. Even the rice tasted bad. How do you mess up rice?? Both times I ate food from here, I got a bad stomach ache from only a few bites and ended up throwing the entire order away. That's saying a lot, because I hate wasting food, and I've only done this three times in my life that I can think of. I am a regular on Uber eats for this restaurant, so I decided to dine in with my partner and was totally upset with the treatment I received. My normal dish, a mala pot, which comes with soup actually came with very little soup and we said something and he insisted that it was the same - from that moment I could tell that our waiter was very annoyed with us. He didn't even give us proper chopsticks to eat with, and we had to ask someone else then when we had more questions about the menu, he was very rude and standoffish. I was so disgusted by the behavior I wanted to get up and leave immediately after receiving my food but my partner talked me down and we stayed to finish our food. The dish usually comes with a lot of clear noodles. I noticed when we dine in the noodles or thin and there weren't that many. I noticed the flavor was completely off because it wasn't inside of soup like it was supposed to be it was out and dry. We saw Coco had only 7 reviews, but we took the chance. So glad we did! Prices are fairly decent. The OG boba tea they have has become one of my favorites, on par with Kung Fu. The hotpot itself was a treat, and covid precautions were taken. The sauce bar is self serve (just sanitize prior) and has all the basic fixins. We got the Coco Combo, which included a variety of red meats and seafood. We ordered a dual pot of the classic nutrition herb and mushroom flavor. Tbh, we couldn't taste a difference between the two, but we weren't picky about that. Overall, this was a very clean and pleasant dining experience! The oysters and the tofu and frozen. Not good. Not fresh. I can buy frozen food anywhere. The sauce.... the sauce was not free either. You must pay $1.99 per person for your own sauce. The tables are too small. You have to litterally put food up onto the divider because there is no room. Raw meat above eye level. Not appealing at all. Ok.... the business model is not good and I won't be coming back based on price for everything. Bottom line..... it's HOT POT... not sushi. The place: it was reasonably wide open, so you didn't feel like you were sitting on top of everyone. Clean tables. The food: good selection of ingredients for the hot pot. The Brotz were very nice. The spicy broth was very spicy and we only got the medium. Beware that it gets spicier the longer it cooks. My only criticism would be that there is very little quantity of ingredients that they give for the price that you pay. Very weird experience. We added a bunch of veggies and udon to our order, plus 2 skewers. They never came. I asked about them twice. A server came over and swore that we got the veggies. She was scanning our table like we were lying about receiving the sides. She came back again and said that we got them, even though we kept telling her we never received them. Finally someone else came back and informed us that our veggies were given to the wrong table. They took them all off the bill since we were basically finished with our meal and didn't need anymore food. We asked if we could get the skewers too and they still charged us for them even though one of the servers basically accused us of lying. It was really awkward and stressful the whole time.
