I got a sundae loaded with chocolate and it was good.  Service was good. They are open late.  Located in the city center with bars and shops nearby, the clientele was pretty eclectic the night I stopped in.  Atmosphere is nice and decor is unique. Well worth a stop for dessert.

It's a great option no matter how big your craving is, too. Menu options here when I stopped in included: gelato, sundaes, waffles, crepes, cakes, puddings, hot drinks, bubble-based drinks, milkshakes and smoothies! While a family member and I opted for some small cups of gelato, I have to admit, their sundaes looked impressive! But I wanted to be relatively good that day, so a small and tasty cookies and cream gelato it was. I actually regret controlling my gluttony that day. But hey, there's always future trips and future opportunities to indulge... Definitely take the time to stop on in sometime if you're in the area - whether you want to sit or get a splurge that's good on the go, you'll likely leave as happy as my travel buddy and I did!

By the way, they take Covid measures very seriously here which is a nice change from London. I ordered their classic Welsh Breakfast (I believe it is called "Meaty") and it came with an assortment of items like a classic English breakfast. All the items were very okay but I really liked the bacon though which had a bit of a fattiness to it and was pretty thick cut. I will say that that is probably the only thing on the plate with natural flavor so just be mindful of that so you can eat it with everything. Overall, not a bad meal in Cardiff and +1 for the cheap prices. I think I'm just not a huge English breakfast person but if you are, you will probably love this cute little place.

I also went there for an evening meal - I had lamb shank - again it was lovely - very succulent and had a nice glass (es) of wine too. The evening is less busy and the staff had more time to be friendly. Negatives: Breakfast time is very busy and I felt very cramped and rushed. I didn't feel relaxed and it got on my nerves. It's a little on the pricey side but hey this is Pontcanna - its the price you pay for trendy town. Overall - go there if you want a good evening meal and breakfast but expect it to be full and not as cheap as a greasy spoon in Canton.

I think that it's important that it's such a small place because you feel so appreciated. (Oh, that makes me sound a little needy - like I need affirmation from my baristas...) There wasn't a huge selection of cakes and pastries when I went in, but it was towards the end of the day so I feel that I might just have missed out. I definitely think that they'll be good becausee the hot chocolate that I had was absolutely to die for. It was light and foamy and creamy and, oh, delicious! I sat in there for only a short time because we had to move on to get some shopping done but I really wish I'd been able to linger longer.

Despite losing the 'a' from 'Café' on its sign, giving the place a slightly neglected look from the outside, luckily once you're on the inside it is a pretty inviting little place, and seems to have won itself a loyal following. It's also a popular breakfast spot with local students: 'Aroma's Breakfast' is a full English with eggs, toast, sausage, tomato, mushroom and beans - but it doesn't look too greasy. I haven't tried it, but I have enjoyed their flavoured vanilla latte - and they do other varieties such as hazelnut, too, with muffins, cookies and waffles for a sweet accompaniment. Aroma's is one of those decent local cafés where you can relax and while away a bit of time just sitting and enjoying a coffee or some cake.

This is a tea room which celebrates traditional Brutishness to a tee. Ha ha, see what I did there. I'm always pleasantly surprised that they have table service here; other places of the same ilk tend to have counter service. The staff are always friendly and efficient, so it is nice to see Truffles making the effort and just going that little extra mile. People who've ever worked in hospitality will know how much extra work they're making for themselves! The food here, while tasty, is, as Anna mentioned, rather limited. That being said, they have most standard lunch items that you could want. It's just not the beetroot and houlomi salad you might get at somewhere like Juno or Ocho Lounge. This place is homely and lovely, and good value for money. I for one sometimes wish that more places were still like this. I enjoy the absence of chrome and frappucinos.

It is simply delicious. They do a great apple pie - with ice-cream and also cream if you like to truly indulge yourself! Oh, I had forgotten to mention that they do nice Floaters, too. This here is coke with vanilla ice-cream. I can recommend it on a hot summer's day in August. Truffles do good speciality teas and do not bang just the cheapest teabags into any old pot, something that you unfortunately get so often! My favourite tea has for over a decade been Earl Grey tea. I like to add milk. Truffles is situated very centrally, also not far from St John's Church, St Mary's Street with shops like Howells and Beanfreaks. In the past a Welsh-language literature shop called Oriel used to be near. There are pubs in the same street and opposite from Truffles more or less you find a cheap, good bookshop where it can be fun to browse. A little side story relating to Truffles: I stayed with a lady once who made me breakfast which was not very filling - so my first stop used to be Truffles again - for a real breakfast, not a cooked one - but some nice cake or toast - and the extra drink to quench my thirst and satisfy my big appetite! Only then my day could begin. The service at Truffels' is excellent. A smart waiter or a smart waitress comes and takes your order! I like the music they play - it is old and traditional. Christmas-time Truffels is really nicely decorated with tinsel - no kitsch but it is rather very nicely done. You can hear festive carols like I'll be home for Christmas, God rest 'ye merry gentlemen! and more. It can be busy though on Saturdays when the rugby is on (...) because the Millennium Stadiun is about four minutes away only. So during an important game, I once was given cold tomato soup. This is why I give only four stars. All in all, it is excellent - one of the best tearooms in Cardiff, if not the best!! CHECK IT OUT, MATES!!
