Just as cute as the reviews said you would be! Lovely views you have of Bute Park and Cardiff Castle. You lure your guests with seating outside under tents and inside with your decor charm. Oh, and the treats you serve! Lovely traditional breakfasts and high tea for lunch. I'm in love with your ambiance as much as your sweet and savory treats!

This place was really charming and the perfect stop before/after a castle tour. We went in without reservations and were immediately seated. The staff was extremely kind and inviting. The lunch items were great. We weren't hungry enough for the afternoon tea set, but it looked delicious.

Such a splendid way to spend a beautiful sunny day out in Cardiff. So much food for the price! We got the one per person option and got 2 whole sandwiches each which was a total of 8 1/4 sandwiches After that we got a scone, and an option of a slice of cake. I loved the decor in the house and the home-style but royal feel in the tea room. Where we were sitting there was a walk of the Cardiff castle just outside our window so it felt like we were in the castle being served tea! There's also so many fun things to do around the area before/after tea. We walked our full belies off by strolling through a nearby park where the tearoom was situated. I would definitely try to make it back here next time I'm in town.

We got a reservation within an hour and had a lovely time with afternoon tea. £17 for one, £30 for two. A good price and more food than you can eat! They're used to people taking their piece of cake to go, for instance. Servers were lovely. Scones were amazing and fresh-baked! Would recommend to anyone

Wonderful spot for afternoon tea in Cardiff near Cardiff Castle on the edge of Bute park. The teas are excellent, sandwiches delicious, and the carrot cake an absolute moist delight! The clotted cream and jam were great but I found the scones a bit drier than usual. Other than that, excellent. We sat indoors, but there is also an outdoor seating area. I would definitely recommend this place!

Afternoon tea perfection. 16.45£ for a single.

If you're visiting Cardiff and sightseeing at the castle then a visit next door to Pettigrew Tea Rooms (located at the entrance to Bute Park) is an absolutely perfect way to finish out the afternoon. If it's nice out, sit outside and enjoy a view of the park while you dine on high-quality, tasty fare. As a tourist from the US with limited access to legitimate afternoon tea offerings, I opted for the afternoon tea menu which included a generous amount of finger sandwiches, a hefty scone, and a slice of cake. Everything was delectable and despite wanting to eat everything, it was simply too much food for one person - come hungry! I stopped by alone on a weekday afternoon without reservations and had no problems getting a spot. The waiter was easily able to accommodate my vegetarian sandwich request. Overall highly recommend this authentic tea room with a beautiful atmosphere, perfect location, and absolutely delicious food and tea.

One of the Best tea rooms i have even been to. So Original, the outdoor garden and chairs and round tables, vintage china and cutlery. Every thing seems great in this tea room and its a perfect spot if you go at summer time. They have different types of tea and the great news is; not tea bags and a very nice selection of home made cakes and scones and of corse they offer breakfast and lunch.

My teacup was so pretty!

Just being open around 4 months, the place was recommended to me by my Cardiff friends, and was an ideal place for our large group to meet on a Saturday afternoon. The shop located on a corner with massive windows providing a good place to people watch and enjoy views outside. It is very minimalistic yet very spacious with a large array of vintage furniture which gives it an "established" feel despite being a young coffee shop. I was very impressed with that Little Man are very proud to feature at least two roasters at all times. This day I had a soy latte using coaltown espresso blend and a v60 using the wonderful James Gourmet Coffee from the very knowledgeable staff. I saw Aeropress, Chemex and V60 on offer.. I didn't get a chance to peak at the cakes or if they had a menu but I was very curious to see how they can use this huge space for events in future. Such a great Coffee shop with much potential!

I went straight for their own cold brew coffee (that comes in a lovely little bottle) which was excellent, nice and mellow, leaving me refreshed and suitably caffeinated. I'd expect the hot drinks match the quality. I wish I'd had a little more time to be able to settle in or go back, seems a good place to set up for a few hours, and when I left I wished I could take it back home with me to do just that! I suspect that if I had more of a chance to try everything they have this would get 5 stars.

This is probably my favourite bar in Cardiff bay…read more One of the reasons for this is because most people do not regard it as a bar (more a coffee shop) and it is therefore never over run unlike the bars over the other side of the bay like Salt and Terra Nova. Sitting inside is very pleasant as are the staff, especially the manager, who I think i called Hugo but to me its big selling point is its outside area. It over looks the oval basin and faces the sun. I have spent many a summer day having a few cheeky ones chatting away whilst the sun goes into the bay. So if this isn't your bag - stay away (that way there is more room for the rest of us who do).

Of course I chose the veggie options which included Garlic Mushrooms, Mediterranean vegetables and feta in oil and a good stack of pitta. It was yummy, not exactly mind blowing but really tasty. What does make this place unique is the fantastic view over the bay, so essentially that's what your paying for with your £7 glass of champagne and limited tapas menu. It was worth a visit but it's not the kind of place I'd go regularly.

The veritable smorgasbord of fillings will probably mean you stand there for about 20 minutes trying to decide what to order. My advice is just order everything. Although it's not a big place, there is obviously a busy kitchen and it does its best to turn out some excellent home-made cakes and pastries to satisfy any sweet tooth. Beware; in term time Dough gets incredibly busy. The queues outside and round the block would suggest they're selling something other than sandwiches, but maybe it's just testament to how tasty the food is (or how hungry the students are). It's also worth a visit just to see how many girls can fit behind a counter and make baguettes at the same time. There seemed to be hundreds last time... It's inexpensive, tasty and only a ten minute walk from Bute park. What are you waiting for?

The menu offers a good selection of paninis, sandwiches and hot food, as well as both hot and cold drinks. We arrived at the cafe at lunchtime on a sunny (but cold) February day - and this is where things started to go downhill. Things didn't look too hopeful when we arrived to see a queue of people from the counter right out through the cafe gates. However, we found a seat and I joined the queue. 40 minutes later, I had finally reached the counter. We were originally going to have a panini each. However, when somebody came up to the counter to ask whether they had been forgotten (they had obviously ordered food some time ago, and were still waiting), we decided not to. I ordered a coffee and a hot chocolate. The coffee was nice, but the hot chocolate was appalling. It was obvious that the cafe were using the cheapest cocoa powder they could get their hands on, and just adding hot water (not even any milk!). It was so bad that my girlfriend had one mouthful, and decided to leave it - £1.95 down the drain. Overall we were very disappointed with our visit. I appreciate that it was busy, but any half decent cafe should anticipate trade and ensure that there are adequate staff to cover it - this was blatantly not the case on this occasion and I feel sorry for the 3 staff (1 serving and doing drinks, 1 cooking, 1 waitressing) who had to try to manage the woeful situation. Overall - could do better. Much better.

As a grown up, this is one of my favourite spots in town, it's like a quiet little sanctuary on one of the busiest/worst streets in Cardiff. There's a really huge selection of booze but the drinks aren't really that amazing. My friend who is a superstar bartender had little things to gripe about. They didn't give him enough gin, his tonic was lukewarm and there were spelling mistakes on the boards above the bar. None of that really matters though because the environment is so wonderful and almost indescribably relaxed. The best seat in the house is the one next to the window because you can look out on to St Mary Street at 1am and see the absolute horror show that is Cardiff on a Friday/Saturday night. It's fairly plush inside and pretty small, being above Floyd Clothing on High Street. The first thing that struck me was the impressively stocked bar. They've got over 250 spirits on show here and a pretty large selection of European beers too. They also do cocktails but the prices scared me off. It isn't cheap to drink here that's for sure. What I like about Floyd's mainly is the secrecy and exclusivity of the place. It does get busy but then it is only very small. 50 people would pack the place out to be honest. I've normally gone up the stairs, taken one look at how busy the place is and left. When there is a bit of room though it's one of the best places in Cardiff. You get the impression that most people don't even know it exists. If you're looking for cheap drinks, loud music and dancing, you should probably avoid Floyd's. If you want to sit down, relax and chat or meet up before a night out, you definitely have to give it a try.
