Until recently this was the location of Town and Country, and I was somewhat upset to see it go. However a recent visit to Jaspers has certainly lessened the blow, and I can't deny that it is certainly an asset to Llandaff village.
Jaspers is primarily a tea rooms, and whilst many of the cliental are in their senior years, they do get some young faces through door, after all afternoon tea has become awfully trendy! However they also serve light dishes, such as sandwiches and jacket potatoes, or just even just a piece of cake. Speaking of cakes Jaspers also has a cake ordering service, and I'm told they're delicious.
Having been slightly spoilt with my previous afternoon tea experiences (quite a few London hotels, and the Pump Rooms in Bath) I was initially slightly disappointed with what Jaspers had to offer. Afternoon Tea here is quaint rather than fancy, however the sandwiches, cakes, and scones were all perfectly lovely and I found the portion sizes just right (other places seem to give far too much, and you inevitably end up leaving food). Also expect to pay considerably less here than you would at a London hotel.
As of yet I haven't found anywhere else in Cardiff where a set afternoon tea is available (though there's bound to be somewhere), I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Jaspers. I imagine it would be particularly welcome to tourists visiting Llandaff Cathedral (which is practically on its doorstep). Finally the menu is bilingual which is certainly a nice touch. read more
