First time at Coronado location. We walked in on Monday of Memorial Day weekend. We waited in line about and hour. We thought it might not be too crazy but it was! Make reservations online. We only decided to wait in like because we had 0 plans for the day and traded off being in line. This location is very spacious, with an ocean/skyline view. They also have outdoor seating as well as bar area (which you need your id for). We all ordered chilaquiles, they hit as they usually do. Another reason we decided to wait in line is because we already know what to expect of the food, the food is worth the wait. Aesthetically pleasing as the other brunch spots but this one takes the lead with the views.

We came here to celebrate Mother's Day for my mom and one of my sisters, and honestly, our waiter Johan made the entire experience unforgettable. He went far above and beyond what we expected. Not only was he incredibly attentive to our table, but even while helping other tables, he always made sure to come back and check on us. At one point, someone accidentally removed my food without my consent, and he noticed immediately. Without hesitation, he made it right and brought back the food that had been taken from my plate. That level of attention and care truly stood out. What touched us the most was his kindness and humility. He even brought roses for my mom and my sister for Mother's Day, which was such a thoughtful gesture and made the celebration feel even more special. The atmosphere of the restaurant was already wonderful, but his character, professionalism, and genuine service elevated the entire experience. Because of him, we will absolutely be coming back. Thank you for making our celebration so meaningful.

My highlight from this brunch was the spritzer rosado. Refreshing, enjoyable, it was impressive. Everything else wasn't personally memorable but still satisfactory. Service was low-effort.

Came here for brunch with my friends after making a reservation in advance (fyi they won't seat you unless everyone from your party is present). We wanted to go to this particular location since it's right by the water. Inside was really aesthetically pleasing. The bathroom was a vibe too; it kind of reminded me of a bathroom at a club, but daytime and family-friendly. Food: I ordered the Los Rancheros chilaquiles with sunny-side-up eggs since I had read about the chilaquiles online. Another friend ordered the flautas, which she liked. I thought the food was pretty good but wow was it expensive. My dish was $24; sure the portion was large but that's a pretty expensive dish for chilaquiles! My other friends ordered drinks too (Arroz con leche, Moliendo Cafe, Spritzer rosado). I tried all of them, and I thought the spritzer was the best by far; I enjoy drinks on the sweeter side. Service: Started off strong, but it really died by the end. No one checked on us at all after we received our food. 3 people ordered drinks, and 3 people only had water; they only brought out 3 glasses of water, so those with drinks only had their alcohol to sip on, which was strange. When I asked for a refill of my water, they only refilled my glass and ignored the other 2 empty glasses. Seemed very literal. Is this normal for this restaurant? By the end, I had to wave to get someone's attention for boxes and the check. It was a bit frustrating. Parking: Can be a bit tough during peak times, but there is a parking lot in the back. Overall, the food was pretty good, the drinks were ok, the prices weren't great, and the service was worse. Pros and cons all around, so it gets an average rating. San Diego's brunch competition is fierce, and unfortunately, this is not at the top of my list.

The ambiance , decor and vibes are there. Chilaquiles verdes and drink were great. However the machaca and chilaquiles rojos didn't taste very authentic. Service was great and friendly!

Good food! Nice view! & the decor is pretty. Came for brunch on Valentine's Day. We had reservations and were seated quickly after arriving. The server took our order & gave great service. I liked this location more than the downtown one as it was my first time at this one. I totally recommend it!

We sat at the bar since there was such a long line (yes, a LINE) to get a table. The view from the restaurant to the outside was beautiful with water views, sand, people. The places beautiful on the inside as well with flowers hanging from the ceilings and beautiful glass and colors everywhere, including the bathrooms. The servers/bartenders were attentive but not overly hovering. The cafe de la olla was unsweetened and they provided piloncillo (like brown sugar) liquid to add for some sweetness. My hubby and I shared a meal as I don't eat much and neither does he. The best was the chilaquiles and the tamale was so soft and yummy! I would definitely come back to try other things but I hope they take reservations.

Quesadillas de Chilorio and El Patron brunch sampler

Loved this Coronado brunch spot, not only is the place aesthetically beautiful with a nice view of downtown but also the food is authentic Mexican flavor. I got the Quesadillas De Chilorio! 4 mini corn quesadillas filled with chilorio, served with pork beans and salsa trio with a Juguito de Naranja (orange juice). And my bestie ordered a brunch sampler favorite called El Patron, creamy chipotle chilaquiles with beans, eggs and cajeta french toast with a cafe de la olla. The chilaquiles are very traditional flavor and so many variety of salsas to choose from too which I liked! The service is great too, glad they brought water without asking prior to taking our order!

On a party of 11 we had to ask 2x for one of our parties drinks. Then after getting the drink, the drink was smaller than someone else's who ordered the same drink. Ivan's excuse was that it was cause the other one had more ice, which is weird since it's the cup that we're talking about. After going back and forth about it being ice he finally offered to change it, when they should've just happened the first place and never talked to someone about getting the drink the first time. We didn't get the drink til we were almost more than half way done with the food

We arrived with a reservation and didn't have to wait, as soon as we arrived we were welcomed that it was easy to feel at home. The service was beyond great and fast. we were celebrating my mom's birthday and she truly enjoyed herself, from the music, to the menu and overall service she felt more than comfortable. When the food made its way to us we were more than satisfied. From the drinks to the food we were definitely fulfilled. Our server was great, he explained everything and even gave recommendations since it was our first time there. I would say at times it could be loud but that's the case anywhere. Will definitely come back!

Johan was amazing!!! Exceptional service very tentative. The food itself was amazing and views 10/10 I would definitely recommend. Make a reservation walk up line is pretty long.

Must eat in San Diego!!!! It is DELICIOSO MUST HAVE RESERVATIONS or you're going to wait. If you wait it is so worth it!!!! PROMISE!!!! Right next to the ocean best views & best food. I absolutely love this place that I've been to 3 of 5 of their locations. I had the TOCOMOROCHO with carnitas, over medium eggs & that sweet tamale Cafe de olla, flights of margaritas so perfect not so sweet. I promise you will not be disappointed. Jesus helped us & everyone is nice & they all look happy to be there.

It's extremely limited. Even the beans are made with chicken stock.

Are pets allowed?

I didn’t see any pets during my visit, and I don’t believe they allowed them inside. However, they do have an outdoor patio, which might be an option. But call and verify. As a pet owner, I left my dog at home and enjoyed this spot as a great… Read more

We were given complimentary chips and salsa and then ordered some drinks that came with watermelon garnish. We shared the spicy mango ceviche and a cheese crisp for our appetizers. Both were delicious! The cheese crisp was very interesting! We opted for the spicy tiger shrimp fajitas for our entree. It's served with blistered peppers, charred onions, jack cheese, guacamole, salsa fresca, sour cream, choice of beans and tortillas. It was very tasty! We ended up trying frozen margarita and an agua fresca as well. The frozen margarita is so refreshing, especially on a hot summer day. They have an outdoor seating area blended with indoor seating. The decor was stunning. I loved the wallpaper and light fixtures. The tunes were bumpin'. The restaurant wasn't surprisingly too busy and was pretty family-friendly. I was so excited to take a bite into my first CA tacos! As I settled in and opened the menu, full transparency: I was shocked to see the "happy hour specials: $7 tacos"... regularly $14!? Thinking these HAD to be next-level incredible, I stopped judging and ordered two "Birria" tacos, two "traditional Carnitas" tacos, and a "crispy shell Ground Beef" taco. We paired our tacos with their "Classic" house Margarita. Chips and salsa were brought to the table with our drinks, and we enjoyed those for a bit before the food came out. I wish I were writing this to report that I had the best tacos of my life, but sadly, that's not the case. The Birria taco had an excessive amount of untrimmed fat in the meat, which made each bite unpleasant and forced me to spit out pieces I couldn't chew. This made the overall texture unappealing and the experience disappointing. Not my preferred way to enjoy my tacos. I don't believe this was an issue of happy hour pricing, but rather poor food preparation. I was only able to finish one taco and took the other to-go. As for the traditional carnitas taco, it was okay but lacked anything that set it apart. I say this with kindness, but if you've had a TB crunchy taco supreme, you've tried this restaurant's crispy shell ground beef taco. The classic margaritas were strong and well made. We thoroughly enjoyed them! If you asked me, would I go back for seconds? I'd likely not reorder the tacos. For the price, I expected higher-quality preparation and presentation; instead, it fell short. Personally, I'm glad I visited during Happy Hour. I'd file this one under cool place for drinks and a light bite, if you must.

Our server was Chris and he was OUTSTANDING...very attentive and very friendly. Both managers visited our table several time to make sure we were good. The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is that what I had was just a bit underwhelming. We ordered the braised beef potstickers, california roll, and grilled and chilled shrimp for appetizers. The meat in the potstickers was very mushy. The california roll was decent. The grilled and chilled shrimp were fine. My husband had the filet - ordered medium well, served medium...the twice baked potato was very small and seemed to be overcooked. I had the lemon chicken entree - the taste was good, but was just a bit dry...it was served with fries, which was fine. The other couple ordered the skirt steak and the braised short ribs which they seemed to enjoy. My drink was amazing - the Amalfi Spritz. For dessert, we tried the butter cake...again, a bit underwhelming and not really good on flavor...I did taste the toffee and caramel, but the cake itself had no taste. Overall, I would go back because of the service, the drinks, and the ambiance.

Cramped and loud, but nicely decorated and serving solid authentic meals. Mexican Latte-9/10: Pretty straightforward. A solid, nostalgic spiced coffee. Mazapan Latte-10/10: A novelty menu item, both nostalgic and tasty. With a sweetened condensed milk rim and mazapan dust, this sweet coffee is a must order. Chilaquiles-10/10: Cocina 35 knows how to throw down the best Mexican breakfast item: the chilaquiles. The Verde was good but didn't pack much heat. The Salsa Secreta was our favorite; a creamy 3-chile salsa with an artichoke flavor, this one packs an enjoyable amount of heat. The Chipotle was another yummy and creamy option, making your nose run but still very enjoyable. Frijoles Puercos-7/10: They were pretty standard. I've definitely had better. They served their purpose as a good side. Concha Rellena-7.5/10: Another creative menu item. Whipped cream and whole strawberries sandwiched between two french toast-style concha halves and drenched in cajeta. It was sweet and warm, but would've been more enjoyable with fresher and/or sliced strawberries. Fun to order, but a regular concha is better suited for enjoying with your coffee. Service-6/10: Again, Cocina 35 gets packed, so service isn't as attentive. Our party had to order and wait for water, ask for refills, call the server over for more orders and again for the bill, and wouldn't speak to us in Spanish. I witnessed other tables be spoken to in Spanish, but upon ordering I'd only be responded to in English. I know I'm a white Mexican, but native tongue is nice when I make it clear I'd like to order in Spanish. Overall, a fun spot with solid menu items. The samplers are pricey but probably the best bang for your buck. They do the classics very well, and are very much worth your visit!
