This review is LONG overdue. I've been meaning to write it for too long, but today's the day! After spending the life of my 2013 GMC Terrain taking it to the dealership for service, I knew I had to take it somewhere else after getting an oil leak fixed (which was a headache of a process) and getting quoted an astronomical amount to fix the catacatalytic converter. Walking into CoAuto immediately felt different! I wasn't ignored for seemingly forever like I had been at dealership service centers. I was treated in a friendly way immediately, and everything felt very professional and comforting. I also appreciated the art throughout the lounge area. Plus, I actually live so close that I didn't need the offered Uber and simply walked home while they worked on my vehicle. Long story short: They found silicone sludge in my engine caused by the sealant from the dealership's fix of my oil leak, as well as loose bolts around that area. I was shocked! That could've destroyed my engine, and who knows what would've happened if anything actually came loose beyond the bolts while driving! And yes, they also fixed my catalytic converter for a much fairer price than what the dealership wanted to charge me. When I got my vehicle back, the interior was wiped down, which was such a pleasant surprise! I WILL BE BACK! I'm not much on reviews for a number of reasons, but understanding YELP's policies in this regard, I am making an exception. Co-Auto is a professional, has certified mechanics but so much more. Any ASE certified mechanic can handle a wrench, but are they honest. Co-Auto is! Many in the auto repair business end up giving their customers the business - Co-Auto makes customer service their business. Any mechanic can replace a part but only a few do so with integrity - that's Co-Auto. How do I know? I took my car in recently and they were tasked with replacing two front end seals. Only one could be removed and replaced, the other was frozen in place and would not budge no matter how much time they spent on it. Rather than delay me further, they charged the standard labor for two seals but assured me that when the part could ultimately be repaired (when the seal got worse), I would only have to pay for the seal. They did not want to charge me labor for a job not completed. I trust my car to Co-Auto because I trust them - I trust them because they have earned it! read more

These guys are surely BEST when it comes to auto repair. I was on a reno trip with my family, and on the way back home to Stockton, CA. My GMC'S alternator went bad and was stranded on the side of the road at 7:45am, called exactly at 8:00 am, gave me a quote and got towed to their shop. They treated me and my wife like family. Greeted us with a great attitude and beautiful smiles. I think he was the shop owner, name was Vinny, was very helpful and got his mechanic to get us in and out quick as soon as the part came in. He also gave us a 24 month warranty road side assistance nationwide! The woman at the counter, Rochelle (if spelled correctly) was also very nice and conversated with a smile. She even offered us a ride to get something to eat as if we were family. My wife and I appreciated your guys hospitality. Hope to see you guys again!! We have a 2006 Saab SUV and there are no dealer or authorized dealer locations in Reno so we had gone a number of miles (and recall notices) without having "Sally Saab" serviced. I met Vinnie at a local networking event and was immediately impressed with this drive for great customer service and assured me that after looking at the vehicle if they couldn't help there would be no charge but he would provide a detailed review of what they felt was needed. Needless to say he and his team went out of their way to take care of Sally and she is running better than ever. the two best things I can also say....I felt the cost for the amount of work done was VERY fair, and then afterwards they present you with an document that further gives you piece of mind that gives you 24 months of repair coverage AND roadside assistance!! This family owned business is by far the best auto shop in Reno. If you don't know much about cars and the terrible things that can happen to them and you're looking for a place you can trust to do you justice then you have found it. These brothers are great mechanics and they actually care about the people who come to them. They'll give you a good deal too! My old escort needed quite a bit work when I brought it to them and they found all the necessary parts in town for the repairs and got it up in running in a speedy manner. I thought I was going to be looking at a very expensive bill but it turned out to be quite reasonable considering all the hard work they put into it. Around about 8/13/2020 I started having issues with my car. I contacted coauto through yelp. The response I got was "please send more information" ok... In the meantime since it was the weekend (they are not open on the weekend) I took the car to a private mechanic and had him change the O2 sensors which did not fix the problem. I waited a few days to see if things would improve. They did not. I called coauto on Thursday (8/20/2020). The soonest they could work on my car was the following Wednsday (8/26/2020). I dropped the car off on Tuesday (8/25/2020). Long story short, they had the car for three days and could not fix the problem. They did charge me , a lot, for some guess work but about 20 minutes after I left, the car started having the exact same issues. still looking for a good mechanic... read more

A couple weeks ago I was having trouble with my car and pulled into CoAuto to have them take a look at it. Being a single father with two boys in school and a full time job,having my car is of great importance I explained to them. The gentleman I spoke with said that it would be the next day before they could get to it but said he would do his best. I couldnt believe when he called me 1 hour after dropping it off to tell me that he had diagnosed the problem and would have the parts to fix it before closing. He explained that he would stay late to fix it if needed. Another hour went by and my phone rang with the gentleman explaining that my car was ready and to come and pick it up. Last November, my check engine light on my 2009 Toyota Tacoma came on. After an initial testing, it was determined from the codes that either the camshaft or crankshaft sensors needed to be replaced. Both were expensive repair items that I could not afford at the time. This past week, after receiving my stimulus payment, I took the truck to CoAuto. It was discovered, through their state-of-the-art diagnostic tools, that the sensors and the wiring were working perfectly. It was determined that two teeth broke off the gear of the camshaft timing chain which caused the check engine light to come on. That diagnosis cost $172 and was well worth the cost considering it saved me the cost of replacing any sensors. Good work Anthony and CoAuto! read more

Shortly after I moved to Reno (having driven 3,000 miles to get here) my alternator went bad. I had only made one friend in town and he recommended Co Auto. So I dropped my truck off there and hoped for the best, having only been to one other car mechanic my whole life. This was a big trust thing for me. But they took very good care of my truck and were friendly to me. I even had some money transfer troubles at the time and they didn't mind holding the vehicle there a couple days extra. When I picked it up they explained the fix. They also provided me with a warranty and some coupons for their store. Hopefully nothing happens to my truck any time soon but if it does I believe I'll be coming back here. read more

I was stranded in the city with no way to return back home to school and to work. Desperately, I brought my car in on a Monday morning and it was fixed by that afternoon. I needed quite a bit of work done on my Chrysler and after dealing with CoAuto, I felt like I needed to do one here. From Albert and Rochelle in the front office to Vinnie and all the guys in the back, I felt very comfortable working with them. They walked me through everything, no pressure, showing me everything that had to be done before I decided. Lets face it, car repair can be expensive, they won't do anything unless you approve it, and I have been totally satisfied with my experience. I brought my car in due to an issue, and not only did they misquote the cost of the repair, but they also seemed uncertain about what actually needed to be fixed. After receiving vague explanations and no clear diagnosis, I decided to get a second opinion elsewhere. Thankfully, I took my car to another reputable shop, where they quickly identified the real problem--something entirely different from what they suggested. The issue is now resolved, and my car is running perfectly. I'm relieved I didn't spend money on unnecessary repairs here. We recently had taken my sons Xterra to CoAuto and I have to say I will definitely do it again if needed. I think this is the first auto shop where having a some what timely job completed in a short amount of time and done well and thorough is my first time ever. Came in for a simple check up on my vehicle. Came out with more than impressive service done on it. Love how helpful, straight to the point and professional the team is here. Not trying to sound corny, but my car was essentially saved here from the attention to detail made on it. They discovered some critical mishaps I had no idea at all were an issue with the vehicle. Would not have been happy to find out the hard way if those issues were to shift to putting my car out of service. Last mechanic I went to didn't detect any of the critical faults going on. I came in for a checkup on my Vehicle. The receptionist was a pleasure to interact with and I didn't have to wait 30 seconds before she got me to a technician. My technician Geoff Walsh took me for a test drive to see what was wrong. Long story short, nothing was really wrong I was just being over vigilant. Geoff answered all my questions and explained everything with precision, he was very friendly, concise and helpful. I left there feeling much better and the kicker is they didn't charge me a dime.
