Found…read moreDavid Giusto Tile on Yelp, sent him pix i took underneath, had good email, he came out and looked in the shower and under the house. We wanted to go full permit, which was a bit of an adventure. Permit took over a month to get through Oakland planning department, not for completely obvious reasons, but we got it. Dave bid two different cases depending on what was under the shower floor tiles, and behind the wall tiles. He pulled out the shower floor and the pan under it, then went into the four walls, Turns out the problems were dramatic and long standing. Damp, dry-rotted and punky sub-floor, parts of floor joists, wall studs and bottom plate. He carefully removed the tiles (that had a 6 month lead time), removed all the bad wood, called the inspector. No mysteries. Everything clearly visible. They discussed how to fix it all, inspector liked what he heard. New 2 x 3, 2 x 4 lumber and sisters for the joists were screwed into place and the inspector came back. He liked the work. Now the new subfloor was fastened down, and the new shower pan was installed over a tapered base that ensured all the water would get to the drain. The mortar supporting the floor and running up the walls went on. Then the whole new pan was filled with water and the high line marked. After a weekend, it had held all the water and it drained when the temporary block was removed. Tile time. Old shower floor had been a mix of related color tiles, an abstract mosaic. New floor is hexagonal tiles that come very close in color to the wall tiles. Saved wall tiles went on the entrance, and the back wall and sides. New tiles, matching the hex floor exactly, went into the bottom row, and on the inside of the front wall. Saved brown trim went in at the entrance. Now the big glass marble came out: Dave released it in each of the 4 corners, and the marble rolled briskly to center. It stopped on the grate or touching the grate. There you go. It looks like it will out-live me. Dave made smart-phone pictures and movies of each step, documenting each layer as it was revealed, then documented the repairs, the new drain, the new pan, new mortar, tiles and finally grout. He sent them to us as he worked, and posts these on his web site where prospective clients can see what he does. It's worth your time.

Floorboards were rotted out around the shower. Mike had the time for my project, and I am so thankful he was able to do the work for me. His prices are fair. He communicated clearly, completing the project on time. Each day he arrived on time and stayed on schedule. I was also impressed with how he noticed details that were necessary to the project and improved the result: adjusting the size of a vanity, adding a towel rod, designing a hallway arch to work with pipes. Mike was also considerate of my needs as I was moving out at the time-he facilitated deliveries, went beyond the call of duty with clean-up-awesome-and offered to be on-call as I was out of state for part of this project. The end result is beautiful, and I have retained Mike to also take care of my house as needed into the future. I recommend Mike 100%. Honest. Conscientious. High quality work. Punctual. Great communicator.

We had a serious mold issue which was caused by water intrusion from the outside of the building, through cracks in the stucco. Viorel and David did a great job fixing my place. They were patient with me during a difficult time, while also being very mindful of my living space and our two cats. The second job he did was having to replace our entire bathroom due to water damage from inside the building. They gave my bathroom a complete makeover!! We went from a tiny stall shower with old floors/fixtures/toilet, to a tub/shower combo, a new vanity sink, new flooring, toilet, the works! I couldn't be happier. We live in a 10 unit building with a landlord who prefers to do subpar/patch work to save a dime, but Viorel refused to do that. He will only do a job the "right way" and fix what needs to be done. We've had other contractors here who would cover up the issue instead of investigating it more to find the problem, but this has never happened with Neagu Construction. Viorel and team are truly fantastic contractors. They are all incredibly professional, and you can tell that he really cares about doing the job right the first time. The integrity he has for his work is outstanding, I would highly recommend them for big and small jobs, they are the real deal and people you can trust.

Not only were their prices the most competitive, but their work and people are also outstanding and courteous. I had to order most of the supplies but they guided me through it. They handled all the electrical, plumbing, new windows and a door and handled all the permitting paperwork of the process. The best part was their flexibility. They followed all my custom request to fit a cat water fountain and step-stool storage. In the middle of the construction, they actually suggested that we have space to get an 18"-dishwasher installed which is my most favorite part of the renovation. My review may be overdue, but hey, even after two years, everything still works and looks great (although not as clean and pristine like the photos because of all the cooking we actually now enjoy doing, plus two toddlers and two cats lol). So that tells something about the quality of work that they do!

At the start, Dmitriy took care of getting the permits and scheduling all inspections during the whole process. Karen, who did our remodel, is excellent and ensured everything was up to code and done the proper way. We have 2 young children so we were a little concerned about safety before we started the renovation but Karen made sure everything was carefully taped off and the space was cleaned up as much as possible at the end of each day. We do recommend having a good air filter running nearby though to pick up any stray dust. Since we're not designers, having input from both Dmitriy and Karen throughout the entire process was invaluable. There were many decisions to make during the renovation, and their expertise and experience made a huge difference. Additionally, Karen recommended some local suppliers, where we were able to source a number of our materials. Overall, we highly recommend Dmitriy and Karen for anyone looking to remodel.

This involved tearing down stucco on two floors, replacing the damaged wood, installing new windows, adding insulation, and generally rebuilding the front side of my home to code. Jose was helpful every step of the way. The estimate was fair and the project did not stray from the original estimate. They passed every inspection without any issues and were clearly familiar with the permitting process in SF. They proactively identified issues with my new roof installation and replacement windows. Addressing these issues delayed the project, but ensured that the work they were doing wouldn't be compromised. There was also an area of damage that was not identifiable until the walls were torn down. Luckily, Jose had warned me ahead of time that this was possible, and the change order was reasonable. All the workers were respectful when entering my home and knowledgable in their craft. I asked many questions along the way and they took the time to help address any concerns I had.
