I shared my concern about rainwater coming toward my house during heavy rain, and about the drainage hole that is often blocked by leaves or by people purposely dumping their dead leaves. I needed to have a large retaining wall along the property replaced. From the moment I met Jose, the owner of the company, I understood that he was very experienced, detailed, and knew exactly what he was talking about. His bid was prompt and very competitive. When the rains stopped, Jose, Osmin, and their crew started work, showing up at 8:00 every morning without fail and finishing their work day at 4:00. We had a great experience working with Pacific Construction on a very stressful repair to our house. I'm really glad we choose to work with them. There was a terrible, stubborn leak in our living room windows downstairs. We learned that the wall had a history of leaks and repairs going back 10+ years from before we owned the house. In the end, most of that wall had to be replaced. There was lot of damage inside from years of water intrusion; there was so much rot. This was a big job--replacement of exterior stucco, interior drywall, five new windows, insulation, baseboards and window sills, painting inside and out, replacement of studs and framing, and a floor repair. Jose, the owner, met with us several times before we even signed a contract. He took the time to discuss the project and answer our questions--we had a lot. We chose him because we felt he understood the problem, and he had the right skills and experience to fix it once and for all, so that the problem would not come back yet again. We felt the price that we paid was fair (we did get several other estimates for cost comparison and to understand what work was needed), and as the work progressed, Jose was communicative about what was happening and why. His crew did a good job keeping the site tidy and protecting the other areas of the house. The work was supposed to take 3 months total, but was finished about 3 weeks early, which we were very grateful for. We hired Pacific Construction for a basement level structural retrofit of our 1905 Victorian. The job was very complex and felt overwhelming for first-time homeowners like us, but Jose was incredibly helpful and accommodating throughout the entire process. They had mostly the same crew of two for the entire project, and they were very efficient, thorough, and friendly. They even took on a couple things around the house when they had downtime, like repairing a broken fence and building us a new mailbox. To start, I had a really hard time getting a contractor. The three that I called prior to coming across the ad for Pacific Construction, were not professional from the get go. Punctuality is very important to me so when one didn't even bother showing up, and one took two weeks to get an estimate in writing for me, I thought I would be living in a construction zone for ever. Then I came across some great Yelp reviews for Pacific Construction. I sent a message requesting an estimate and within 2 hours I had an appointment scheduled with Jose to see the job. The estimate came promptly thereafter. Jose even came out a second time to explain the estimate and confirm the scope of the job with me. Within a week the job was started. Unlike the other contractors I dealt with, Jose, always answered my emails, he and his worker's were punctual and they finished on time. :) Jose and his team did a phenomenal job with the installation of a master bathroom vanity, where they had to do some re-plumbing in order to make sure that the water and drain attachments fit correctly into the vanity. They installed recessed lighting to replace old in the ceiling fluorescent lighting and covered up the hole, and they created a very sleek nook for a make-up mirror out of an old hole where a medicine cabinet was located. These people came to my home, spent around 30 minutes looking over the work to be done, and then for some reason, told me an estimate would take 2 weeks (2 weeks?), and that was the last time I heard from them,which leads me to the conclusion that the company is not too professional or reliable, which are two qualities that are of utmost importance. I am an Architect and I have worked with many Concrete Contractors. There are good ones and not-so-good ones. On one recent residential project, one Contracting firm demolished an old concrete patio and poured a new patio slab. The new patio was fine. However, instead of hauling away the concrete remnants of the old patio, the workers scattered and buried the remnants throughout the rest of the rear yard. This was only discovered by chance many years later; a little too long to have effectively pursued any legal actions. This was clearly a breach of contract and the only reason it is mentioned here is to serve as a reminder of how dishonest some Contractors can be. On the other hand, Pacific Construction, in my experience, is one of the most thorough and conscientious. The company is totally committed to a quality end product...and their clean-up afterwards is impeccable. For any concrete-related work, I would recommend them totally. read more

Jose was very meticulous and always made sure all the work was done well and to code. He was responsive by email and text and handled all of our big and small requests. Our project was delayed by several weeks due to delays in some of the materials we ordered, but Jose promptly installed and fixed things up once our materials arrived. Jose helped us with a bathroom and kitchen remodel. We had contacted many contractors in hopes that someone would help renovate our bathroom first and then kitchen later. Many contractors ignored us outright and others showed up and promised to follow up and never did (and never responded again). Jose was upfront and told us the bathroom project was too small but he would only take the job if we did our kitchen and bathroom at the same time. We appreciated his honesty and decided to do both. During the bathroom remodel, Jose's team found a significant amount of wood rot due to leaking pipes and other not-to-code issues with our old house. My project was a complete remodel of a hundred year old home in Daly City. I found Jose and Pacific Construction on Yelp in January 2015. I started this project back in January 2014 and after almost a year, I final got my plans approved by Daly City (The City is difficult to work with). I had interview several contractors and felt very comfortable dealing with Jose. He was professional and gave insightful advice on how the project should progress. Jose listened to what we wanted and made sure it was in the contract. He reviewed his contract with us and made sure we understood all the details. Jose explained how long the project would take to complete. He also made sure there was time built in for unseen problems. Jose's crews started on time and were professional and friendly. Jose was a hands on contractor. I could find him on site when I was able to stop by. As with all old homes unseen issues popped up. Jose and Raymundo were able to turn around my full bathroom remodel in 2-1/2 weeks with demo done in 1/2 a day! We did not move major plumbing, thus the 2-1/2 week turnaround but they did gut and replace all fixtures including removing a tub and installing an enclosed glass shower. They work so fast and are so flexible and accommodating. Some of the tile I picked for my shower was not going to work and instead of doing what I wanted, Jose made suggestions and the shower ended up beautiful. We also ran into some problems when we painted the wall/ceiling ourselves and they fixed it all, no worries. This was our first home remodel and although stressful I have no complaints - everything works, the professional craftsmanship shows, and the project was completed on time and under budget. Best of all, they cleaned up after themselves every day and left my place just as they arrived, except on the last day I had a brand new bathroom to use. Jose came out for onsite consultation for a concrete slab (extension) and was able to give immediate quote and also be flexible with some of the demands we had. There was no pressure and he worked with our time constraint which was a huge bonus for us. On the day of, his team worked hard and fast, they meant business, which I really liked. We have just completed a remodel and right on schedule. Two months almost to the day. We had a bathroom gutted and redone, had a wet bar removed, a pantry reconfigured, old cabinets in the hallway removed and a custom desk and linen closet added, and we had a huge closet removed from the entry. It was a weight baring closet.. So you can imagine what Jose and his team had to do to keep the ceiling from falling..... and we also had three tubular skylights installed. The first day on the job I knew we were in great hands. The way Jose and his team come in and completely covered all the work areas with a heavy stock paper then cut plywood to fit the floor. They cared about and protected each inch of our home. They even laid paper down on the slate patio and steps leading to our front door. Jose is detailed oriented. He didn't miss a thing. From big things all the way to the tiniest things, like a water bottle left behind by one of the workers. Jose was either hands on our project or he would stop by at least once a day. I can honestly say that we had not even one issue come up. Everything was handled as discussed. There were no surprises or disappointments. We now have the most beautiful open floor plan so that we can utilize the living room and dining room. We have recommended Jose to all we know. He was awesome and so were ALL of the workers.
