UPDATE: review upgraded from one star to three and a half To start... when buying an appliance for your home...if you want and expect customer service above and beyond...go see Cameron at Coast Appliance in Victoria BC. I initiated an online chat to let Coast Appliance know about my negative review, (see below). The VERY helpful sales rep, Cameron, recognized the problem and resolved it the best he could...but only mostly to my satisfaction. He wasn't able to fulfillI the advertised FLASH ! SALE claim of 25%+ OFF. The product in question, a Frigidaire microwave, is/was posted at $898.99, which is,or was, the promotional price posted on Frigidair's website, a price that all Frigidaire retailers are/were selling at. However, Cameron, the Coast sales rep...(great fellow) was only able to apply THEIR, that is Coasts Appliances, promotional FLASH ! SALE to the full MSRP of $999, and not the posted/displpayed/advertised price of $898.99. But... I needed a microwave. And the Frigidaire Pro series Convection was my preferred choice. So I caved and bought it from Coast. But ONLY because of Cameron's stellar customer service manners, (Ok, I must be honest, the discounted price had a bearing on my decision as well). But that doesn't mean I agree that it was resolved correctly. (TBF, satisfying both the customer and head office management when marketing errors occur can be a difficult balancing act...shouldn't be but it is...). Thus, so and however, this only bumps up my review from one star to three stars and a half stars. We bought a KitchenAid dishwasher 3 years ago. Recently I found out there should be a metal piece on top of the filter was missing. I never knew there supposed to be a metal piece. I called their customers service explain the situation that they sold me a defective dishwasher from the very beginning. I have spoken with 2 sales person and 1 manager (Justin) All 3 of them were extremely rude told me it is my fault, they can't do anything about it and hang up the phone. I have never experienced such a bad customer service before, not even try to ask me what they can do to help, instead to tell me to go away. They don't check their products before they sell you. Once they got your money they don't help you if something goes wrong. I feel sorry for this company to hire such poor sales representative with no interest in their job. I haven't even gotten my appliances yet and it's been a terrible experience, I notice that both sales people I've been dealing with are mentioned in other reviews by name, Justin and Remi. Was told delivery time should be 6 weeks for my appliances and have now been waiting 4 months. I reached out over a month ago requesting updates, no response, reached out twice more since then, still no response. Finally got Remi on the phone and was told to choose other appliances as they couldn't confirm the delivery date of any of the 6 appliances I'd purchased. No apology, no "Thanks for your patience, I'm so sorry it's taking so long" or "So sorry for not getting back to you sooner". naturally I emailed the manager, Justin, then called him after not hearing back by that afternoon. I offered some feedback saying "I deal with situations at work like this all the time and when I talk to customers I start the conversation with "Thanks so much for your patience" he said that was good feedback without saying "Thanks for your patience." and when I asked why, he said it was 100% implied. LMFAO. This place is a joke. If I don't have the appliances within 2 weeks I'll ask for my deposit back and go elsewhere, I suggest you do the same. read more

Gurdeep Singh was recommended to us by a local designer. I went to Gurdeep and can't say enough positive comments about him. Gurdeep listened well, showed us many options with the best quality and value. He recommended less costly items at times that would provide us with everything I needed and asked for. He also costed out whether a sale price or an extended warranty was the best dollar value option for us to chose. When a change in our renovation occurred he was patience, accommodating and helpful. Fine machines - washer and dryer - and the delivery/installation crew was great. Very considerate and professional.

My 79-yo Dad treated himself to a new BBQ, purchased in May. It was supposed to be delivered around Father's Day, which he was really looking forward to as he is a grill master and uses his barbeque many times a week. They delivered a propane model even though he had purchased a natural gas model. He didn't realize this until after they'd assembled it and left, even though it would have been obvious to the assembly guys that he has a gas hook-up. That was just the start of what seemed like a never-ending, frustrating saga. Instead of fast-tracking getting the correct model delivered and assembled, they claimed they needed to order it. Nobody kept him in the loop and he was forced to follow-up on a weekly basis. ZERO urgency or concern on the part of Coast Appliances, who used every excuse in the books and zero problem-solving to make it right. Finally, 3 months later (and most of the summer gone), they notified him in August that the unit was in stock, and they'd let him know (on a Friday) when delivery would be arranged. Once again, nothing. So he had to follow up AGAIN, only for them to say "there aren't enough deliveries today so we didn't get the van" i.e. "we don't care AT ALL about the fact you've been waiting the whole summer for your barbeque, old man". THEN it was finally delivered on a Friday and NOT assembled, just a box left on his patio to get rained on. The delivery people said someone would be by in 20 mins. My dad, with the patience of a saint, waited until he had to leave so I called to find out what was going on, as I happened to be visiting from Calgary and by then was livid at how poorly they'd treated my father. It wasn't until I laid into whomever was on the phone and "Remi" came on the line to say, "Uh jeez well we told them to do the assembly" and guess what? Yep, he had to wait until Monday. So finally it was put together. They informed us in a rather self-congratulatory way that they'd refund the delivery cost. AND - when they finally did assemble it, they didn't connect the line as it was a different attachment, and just left it for him to sort out himself without attempting to rectify it while they were there. My goodness, the lack of customer service has been STUNNING, a new low, really. And this was a higher-end unit. They could not have cared less. STEER CLEAR and find anywhere else to purchase your appliance. As I told them on the phone, they really should be ashamed of themselves. Completely, utterly unacceptable and no BS excuses they might say in response can possibly explain the ineptitude. read more

Be warned, After-purchase service is horrible. We bought a fridge, dishwasher, washer and dryer and upon installing the washer, not only did it not fit in the space, the washer flooded my laundry room. The flooding occurred from the bottom of the machine and not from the hoses. Coast Appliances have been giving us the runaround, not return calls until 5 minutes before closing, passing information from person to person with no answers, and the only solution offered was to replace the unit with another that still won't fit in the space. We have stated that we will keep the fridge and dishwasher, but would like the washer and dryer returned, which they will not agree to. Not only is the washer defective, after giving the salesman the dimensions of our space, it doesn't fit. I try to avoid big box stores like the plague, but at least I know that I am covered if anything like this goes wrong. Coast Appliances should be ashamed with this level of customer service. They repeatedly state that they would like to keep us as customers, but forcing us to live without laundry because of their mistake is NOT how you keep customers. We are a family of 4 with a 2 and 5 year old, with no laundry aftyer spending almost $10k. This is unacceptable. read more

We bought a dishwasher 7 weeks ago. When installed, it didn't work, twice a repair man came out with new parts - still it didn't work. We asked to have it picked up and our money back, nothing happened. 10 days ago we went to the store as we never heard anything. We decided to buy a more expensive one and were promised it would arrive Thursday and they would call the installer. Today we still hadn't heard anything, so I called the GM - she put over to Remi again - he says they are waiting for Bloomberg to make sure we don't have to pay installation fee again and that there wasn't room on the truck from Vancouver, so the dishwasher is still not here and he cannot say when it will be. Just returned from the Coast Appliance Store, after being insulted by a/the manager. I was in to inquire as to the possibility of redressing a Samsung stove problem. While I understood that it was no longer under warranty, I hoped they may have been willing to perhaps assist in redressing the situation with Samsung. The issue being discussed was in regards to an expensive faulty Samsung split oven unit that they sold to the previous owner of my new condo. It was purchased in March of 2020, with a 1 yr warranty. And I was told never worked properly. Unfortunately, to my detriment, the purchaser due to Covid restrictions never pursued the matter. When I discovered the oven didn't work properly, I purchased an oven thermometer and did extensive testing to be sure it was the oven at fault. I then called Samsung, and they told me how to reset the computer to factory standards. This was useless so I called in a tech to look into what it would need to repair it. Quite expensive to say the least. When I went to Coast Appliances to see if they might be willing to help somehow I wound up talking to I believe the manager. This is where he decided to insult my intelligence by taking me over to a Gas stove and suggesting that I just didn't understand how to operate the Electric oven. Spent over $5000 appliances only for them to try to charge me again to take an appliance they were supposed to take the first time (which I paid for). Then they blamed me for the gas fitter showing up the same morning as the appliance delivery guys, when that was the only time he could come, and had been without a washer and dryer already. Their response was "it's not our fault the gas fitter was late". No refund for something I already paid for, even after spending $50000 there! A complete joke! Just getting down to writing a review from earlier this year. Problems within a month of purchasing Electrolux W/D. Terrible service. Terrible appliances. I called Coast and explained the situation. They would not assist at all and instead directed me to contact Electrolux. I contacted Electrolux and was told they already knew of the defect in their dryers and would provide a lint screen as a complimentary service. I said what do you mean complimentary? I have a warranty. The Electrolux rep stated the lint screen is considered cosmetic but since they've had so many complaints about items catching and pulling the screen out, they will send us a freebie. I explained a lint screen is NOT cosmetic, it is an essential safety feature. I contacted Coast Appliances to inform them of my conversation with Electrolux and the female who answered stated our salesman was busy, and she then stated "well they (Electrolux) haven't told us that". I said I wanted a reputable set of W/D's and she replied essentially this would not be happening - that we had to contact Electrolux for any issues. The Coast salesperson never even returned the call. To be fair and accurate, I must add, our salesperson was helpful at the time of sale and may never have received the message from the female who answered the phone? Absolutely useless customer service from the Cloverdale location in Victoria BC. My advice, go somewhere else and if considering Electrolux, call Electrolux yourself before purchasing, to explore any issues they are having with their appliances. Bought a fridge and yes, you guessed it, broke down a month after the one year warranty. Their hands are washed of it. Some bargain!

Let's see the guy who installed the dryer didn't hook up the hose for the steam function so that was another visit. Then when I tried to use the steam function all I got were soaking wet clothes. They charged us $400 for the repair of our new dryer and told us too bad. We had already bought several appliances them and for them to not stand by this appliance makes me wonder where their priorities are. I will not buy another item from them and will go out of my way to tell others of their terrible service. They suck. read more

We unfortunaletly feel the need to warn potential customers about the quality of Coast Appliances services, especially in the after sale customer care. To make a story short, we ordered 5500$ worth of equipment (stove, fridge, powerpack, dishwasher) and had to wait 12 weeks for our stove to show up - we were initially told 6 - 8 weeks. We were constantly mislead on the delivery timeline, they tried to charge us 2 delivery fees unless we wanted to wait for everything to be delivered at once, we had to constantly follow up with them to get answers and any timeline given to us (on answers back to us, delivery time...etc) were constantly missed. When we provided feedback on our experience, our e mail was ignored and we had to pressure them to get an answer that we finally got: "we can't guarantee delivery time, here s 100 bucks". All in all: very frustrating and disapointing, couldn t/wouldn't recommend it. read more

My old fridge gave up the ghost suddenly and was spewing water on the floor. I phoned several stores looking a for a new fridge that was reasonable priced and also they would deliverer. Because I live in an older home to get modern appliances through the doors you have to remove the kitchen door and in the case of the old fridge remove the doors on it. Not one store would do that for me. In fact, basically most of them would not even deliver into the house. They would drop it curbside and then you were on your own. As a senior this was definitely not feasible for me. I even called one outfit that said it had 'white glove' service and would delivery right into the house. They arrived with the fridge and then refused to bring it into the house because they would not take the door off. The fridge went back. I finally called Coast Appliances. From start to finish the staff were fantastic. The salesman went out of his way to find me the fridge I wanted. When it turned out that it would not be available for two weeks he found me another one in the 'scratch and dent' department and saved me a further 135. The fridge was delivered within a few days and yes the delivery person took off all the doors etc, delivered and set up the new fridge and then put everything back in place. I will be going back to this store for all my appliance needs. I highly recommend them to you as well. read more

We are doing a kitchen reno and needed to price an appliance package. Gurdeep assisted us. He showed us options and was very careful to emphasize how he was a guy with integrity. After all, he had to be since he wanted us to send people his way after our experience with him. Gurdeep agreed to price two packages for us and email us the results. We never got the prices, never got a call, never got and explanation. We won't be sending anyone Gurdeep's way, or to Coast for that matter. We ordered a microwave and paid in full, having been assured it was on order and would arrive in 2 weeks. A couple of phone calls and a month and 7 days later and we still did not have the product. After another phone call, The "sales"person, Remi, assured us if we came in on a certain day, we would have our microwave. We phoned and an associate was unable to understand which product we were supposed to have. After phone calls and emails, Remi assured us we were getting an upgraded model (newer) and said we could pick it up that day. We arrived only to find the model number he quoted that morning in the email, was not the one set aside for us. When we said we just wanted to cancel the whole order, he replied "the return process is lengthy, and I would not recommend it". When we caved and took the microwave, he said that we should inspect it in the store, since once it was in our hands there was a "no return" policy. Do not buy anything from this business. read more
