Not bad, but not great. Service less then stellar. Went here on several recommendations, not impressed. Food was too "foo foo" for us. I ordered the chili relleno, wife ordered the burrito loco. They took traditional Mexican and added salad greens and sauce. The best part was the double margaritas that we ordered at the very end of he meal. Bottom line Taco Bell has better food. read more

My wife and I had a good experience eating at this restaurants previous location. We were very impressed with how they were able to fit and wait on so many customers in such a small space. I think I even won a t-shirt for something... We were happy to see them upgrade to a larger venue. Unfortunately, we didn't quite get the service that we'd had before... and now with much fewer customers and at a slower time of the day. Nevertheless, it wasn't terrible--just not as persistent as it was before so I ended up getting my own to-go boxes and had to find someone to ask for a check. All that being said, you can't beat the price for $1 tacos on taco Tuesday! Their pickled onion and sauce adds a nice pazzazz. The meat flavor wasn't fantastic, but was good. Just don't make the same mistake I did... normally I indulge myself with the chips and salsa (which are authentically delish) and I asked for a second dish of chips and salsa. However, never have I ever had to pay for more chips! So know that you get charged for extra chips... even though there were three of us instead of just myself. So even with my criticisms, know that I am still giving it 4-stars as I still enjoyed the food, experience and service. read more

Tried COA for the first time. Next morning...and still can't stop talking about it. Food was OUTSTANDING. Service was GREAT (especially on a Saturday, night and the place was PACKED) wait staff was all smiles and had great energy. Drinks....poured honestly and made to perfection. I had the burrito loco and my wife had the carne asada. Burrito was huge, pork was tender and a perfect marriage with the mango salsa. Carne Asada was marinated just right and prepared and served correctly. NOTE: make reservations. Come hungry. Relax and enjoy ANY of the margaritas they offer. Oh my this was delicious! This is not your mainstream Mexican food... I had a cheese enchilada, served in an amazing creamy green sauce. The beans were whole and cooked to perfection; along side the rice, which was fluffy and flavorful. Are you getting that I really enjoyed my meal :-) because I did! My husband had the most moist and tasty carne asada along side the rice, beans and.....oh my mango salsa, which belive me, complimeted the meat. From what I read COA's food isn't your typical Tex Mex and is supposed to be Durango flavors. However regardless of style, the food we had was not good. My Husband and I stopped by for lunch on a weekday. We noted that there were less than three tables of patrons. We were seated immediately, ordered the Molcajete and served a small pail of chips and salsa. Our waiter was very friendly but we had to ask for water refills, additional utensils and one refill of chips while we waited 20 minutes for our meal. We counted that there were over seven staff there but they stayed away from the patrons, socializing with each other by the bar area. They seemed more interested celebrating the birthday of one of their staff than tend to the customers. The only time the place smelled remotely of any food was when the molcajete was placed in front of us. The dish was comprised of five prawns, two roasted jalapeños, some sliced cactus, steak and chicken. The small amount of beef was very thin, cut into small strips, overcooked and very tough to chew. The chicken was similar. We wondered if the meat was cutoffs or leftovers from their burritos dressed as a different dish in the molcajete. The food was served with four small tortillas and a plate of sides that did not look or taste fresh. The sides comprised of flavofless beans, rubbery rice, sour cream that didn't taste like sour cream, wilted shredded lettuce, some sort of pico de gallo and premixed "guac". None of it tasted very flavorful or remotely good. There wasn't enough meat so we had to eat the sides. We were provided with two small tiny plates almost like small tapas plates which made eating on very awkward. Perhaps the small sized plates were an attempt to trick the eye into perceiving the $38 molcajete as a larger dish. We both left feeling queasy and that nauseated feeling lasted for hours afterwards. We hope this experience was a rare off day for COA as La Conner really needs some good diverse restaurants. However for us, we won't be dining at COA again. read more

Wow! What an exceptionally delicious meal. We stopped in for lunch one afternoon. Based on the looks of the place, it seems like super typical Mexican food. I was pleasantly surprised by the menu. Everything is fresh with unique ingredients. I had enchiladas with mole and poblano cream sauce. The mole was just the right blend of sweet and savory - hands down the best I have ever had. The poblano cream sauce was addictively rich. My friend had tacos and said they were delicious. Even the chips and salsa were super fresh and homemade. This is some of the best Mexican I have ever had. The prices are a little higher than your typical Mexican but well worth it. read more

I'm taking away one star because their "outdoor" seating isn't really outdoors. It's almost fully enclosed with the exception of a small whole above a doorway. This type of set up really frustrates me during COVID times. Since I was super hungry and already there, I decided to eat there anyway. At least the seating is well spaced and there are glass dividers between tables. That aside... the food is very fresh and delicious. The staff are super friendly and attentive. I ordered the veggie tacos (good vegan option) with a side of rice and beans. The beans (they're whole beans) were the best I've ever had; well seasoned and not oily. I also ordered a mezcalita and it came in a super cute decorative glass. It's a large drink and tasted decent, however it tasted like they used sour mix instead of fresh citrus and I couldn't taste the smokiness of the mezcal, so I don't think they added enough mezcal to it. The restaurant is a 10 min walk from the main downtown La Conner area, or you can drive and they have their own parking lot. read more

I've passed by this place many times and never realized the deliciousness that was within. The food and drinks are thoughtfully prepared and the flavors are developed. I spend a lot of time In La Conner and I can see myself making this a go to to spot for sure when I want to enjoy a quick meal and drink. The vibe is understated and simple. This place really rocks. Ask for the Jalapeno Margarita and then get the Molcajete which is grilled meats in a sauce with melted cheese served in a molcajete - which keeps the sauce hot for the entire meal. It comes with a ton of condiments, all delicious. The chicken with mole was to die for, and the enchalada is also absolutely superb. We were so happy with the atmosphere, the food and the drinks and we loved our server Miguel who went way over and beyond to take care of us. We had a flan for dessert and that was also fabulous. Not very good food. Not sure where the high reviews are coming from. The meat was tough and overcooked. The rice had a weird almost plastic taste to it. The portions were very large almost to the point of being gross! There wasn't enough sauce to enjoy all the other ingredients with. I was a little leery of another Mexican restaurant in this building, only because the food was always cold from the last two owners who tried to make a go of it, and I really can't stand cold Mexican food. But things have changed, and for the better!! Our dinners were outstanding. I had the plate with three smaller sized enchiladas and they left me wanting more. It wasn't a huge plate full of greasy food, but rather more like gourmet Mexican food at it's finest, without the grease. The only thing i didn't really care for was the chips and salsa, but the main course more than made up for it. I will return to dine again at the COA sooner than later, and I would suggest it to anyone. Great service and excellent food. read more

Had the Los Taco( gluten free) for eleven bucks, gave me three tacos plus a salad including beans and rice "over the top " good food. If you drink try their La Paloma, refreshing with Tequila, grapefruit soda and lime. Bet you can't drink one!! Normally I don't get excited about Mexican Food... It was a good sign when even the first bite of rice and pinto beans were surprisingly tasty. The Chile relleno was good (if heavy on the egg batter) and my family said the salad and the crispy tacos with tinga were great. The churros were fresh, crispy, and delicious. Presentation great! Food excellent. I had fajitas. So much food - I have another meal I'm taking home. The veggies were fresh. Most fajitas have peppers tomatoes and onions.
