Have to admire the lean into the ghost kitchen concept right down to the logo. Fairly extensive menu with lots if different bentos and bowls. The prices are pretty reasonable considering the quality of food ans portion you're getting. The bento come in a pretty cool looking box and comes with real wasabe. The salmon teriyaki comes with a gyoza, a piece of boneless fried chicken and a california roll, very good and a bargain for 18 bucks. The light sushi bento was also good, but there was a pin bone in a piece of sashimi, so that drops you a star. Overall, still a good deal and will order again.

First time trying this place, my church ordered catering for a special event. The food was delicious & it came in a cute bento box. We had teriyaki chicken rice, green beans, salmon roll, gyoza, chicken karaage & it even had a tray for the soy sauce, wasabi & ginger. I was pleasantly surprised that their chicken karaage & teriyaki sauce was gluten free!

We decided to try CM Ghost Kitchen after seeing a post on the SGV Eats Facebook group. Ordering was easy through their website, which also gives you an estimated pickup time. I went with the Light Sushi Set and added a corn croquette and four pieces of salmon roll since I was getting hungry. My husband ordered the Yakiniku Wagyu Beef Bowl and the egg omelette bowl with ground chicken. The sushi was fresh and flavorful, though the rice portion on each piece was a bit heavy. I really enjoyed the croquette--it was crispy and satisfying. The beef in the Yakiniku bowl was a little on the chewy side, and the omelette bowl was pretty bland in flavor. Overall, we had a decent lunch, but I'd definitely stick to the sushi menu next time. Bonus points for the cute packaging and their adorable ghost-themed branding, it's super kawaii!

The wagyu beef was delicious however the portions were extremely small for $20. I don't think i would have gotten the bbq yakiniku Australian wagyu if i knew I'd still be hungry after. My wife was very happy with her chicken teriyaki bowl. Overall it was good however I am just disappointed with the beef bowl size especially since I only found out once I got home with the food.

Standard Chirashi bowl, really delicious. Great cuts and quality.

Food was great, I got the standard chirashi bowl. Next time I will try premium but standard is delicious and definitely filling.

This is my go-to when I need something quick, fresh and flavorful. It's a ghost kitchen, so no seating, but the portions are massive. Easily enough to feed a crew. When you're out there hustling, drop by and grab some food to fuel you through the day.

One of the best sushi and Japanese food take out hidden gems located inside a humble storefront in a small strip mall in Pasadena right off the 210fwy. Sushi is outstanding for a takeout place - think pulling up a chair at a legit sushi bar in Japan but packaged so neatly (Japanese style) like in Japan! All the details covered from the packaging, hand wipe, quality wasabi and shoyu and even the small sauces to add to the sushi (if needed) 1st time I took out I ordered the regular chirashi that was I think the best in Pasadena! Best cuts and super fresh with perfect sushi rice! Put together so well - next time I will try the premium version which I assume would be even more delish! 2nd time I ordered the sushi dinner and it was one of the best I've had -I thought was even better than sugar fish and other mid high competitors. They don't skimp on quality of the fish and rice here even though it's just takeout. This time I tried the chicken teriyaki that was a generous serving and their sauce was perfectl not too sweet or syrupy. Very Japanese! Plus I picked some ala carte sushi which was again excellent! What a hidden gem for this ghost kitchen serving up high quality sushi in the non pretentious take out shop. Japanese Owner is very friendly too! Next time I will try the tonkatsu or curry! Definitely the best spot for high quality take out sushi and other Japanese dishes. Mochiko my cat was spoiled and gets her sashimi treats from the Japanese markets (mitsuwa and Yama seafood). She won't eat sashimi that has been frozen or from a chain or cheap Japanese restaurants or supermarket sushi (Ralphs, wholefoods, etc.). She won't even eat sashimi from Hmart! She is super picky for a cat! But she was going crazy when I gave her a nibble of my tuna! Mochiko approved as fresh quality!

A great choice if you're on the go and want good quality bento! Ordered via their website and it was a breeze. Although the wait time may indicate a longer duration (ie: 30 minutes or 45 minutes), my experience is that they're usually ready within 20 or so minutes (at which point they will text you that your order is ready for pick up). Ordered the beef bento and it definitely hit the spot. The variety includes a gyoza, rolls, vege and karaage. The beef was tender and full of flavor. The rolls (spicy tuna) were very refreshing and a great contrast to the other items, such as the karaage and gyoza, which I would rate as flavorful and juicy. The interior is clean and service is excellent. The shop is in a small strip mall so parking can be a challenge during busy hours.

Picked up lunch today since it's on my way home. This is my second take out and it didn't disappoint. I got the light and it was enough to fill me up. It has the same set up and very similar too sugar fish. I was pretty full and it's a good thing I didn't get the standard. The lunch specials look really good too I'll try it next time.

My favorite Japanese bento kitchen! High quality and gentle, delicate taste. Highly recommended :))

    6 course in-home experience

Had the pleasure of experiencing Chef Maezaki's food and skills when a friend hired him for an in-home birthday experience. All of us were wow-ed and blown away by him and his staff. This isn't your typical in-home sushi chef experience with mostly raw fish and rice. They came to the house 3.5 hours before to prep and cook. Then served up 6 amazing courses with a variety of cooked dishes alongside sushi/sashimi. Most of the courses contained several pieces (e.g. course 1 had 8 items), so we were stuffed by the end. The quality, flavors, dishes were all unique and delicious! Everything was cooked and presented with thought and perfection. He put so much into each dish, and his helpers were awesome as well. It was a full-service meal so we never had to lift a finger with their seamless service.

I found this place on DoorDash and I'm glad I did! Definitely a hidden gem for high quality take out sushi! The estimated time for pick up was accurate and there was no wait at all. I opted for the Light option and I was super full afterwards. The cuts of the fish were huge and I enjoyed the small kale salad in addition to the sashimi! Very yummy! I will definitely have to try making my own sushi rice after reading the instructions on the box as well.

This is truly a diamond in the ruff and so unassuming! Was searching for Japanese food specifically and just happened to see Chef Maezaki's restaurant near my home. Ordering was easy. Each item has an extensive description. My order included the Premium Sushi Set which was AMAZING! Fish was fresh and the rice is the first I've had, that is remotely close to rice I've had in Japan (which is so good). Portions are a very good size and enough for my husband and I to share. We got double Toro and will definitely order again. Presentation is unique and attractive. The chef included various sauces in little pipettes for the sushi. Each sauce complemented certain sushi, very well matched. One interesting piece of information is the chef's "How to Make Sushi Rice At Home". He is very up to date with a QR code on his recyclable food boxes as well as his business card. The restaurant is very unassuming. I would have never known that it existed in this strip mall. The inside is very clean with an opening to the kitchen where the chef personally greeted me. I will be ordering from Chef Marzaki again. The price you pay is the quality of fish you get!

Osawa is 100% worth the hype, and if you haven't heard of it, let me hype it up for you…read more The place is small so be prepared to wait if you're trying to go on a Thursday-Saturday, or show up when they open for lunch or dinner. Ambiance is super cute, love the little flags over the sushi/shabu bar and the art on the walls adds to the Japanese restaurant feel. The aroma when you walk in is mouthwatering (I was really hungry) but it doesn't smell fishy like some sushi places can. Staff is unbelievably great, super friendly and helpful if you have any questions about the menu or want recommendations. Don't be afraid to ask what the MP is on omakase, they totally work with what you're looking to spend or based on how many pieces of sushi you want to eat. Now for the real reason to visit Osawa: the food is absolutely amazing!!! Fresh, tasty, perfectly portioned. From the shishito peppers appetizer to the sushi, sashimi, hand rolls, and shabu; I cannot recommend this place enough! They have plenty of sake options to pair with your meal as well as beer or specialty cocktails if that's your preference. They offer to explain your order when it arrives which is great for those newer to sushi or just trying something different. Seriously, some of those fish practically melt in your mouth. I personally haven't ordered any rolls yet but they absolutely look delicious. If you're looking for a good sushi date spot, this. is. it. It's also good for a small group, maybe up to five or so before you feel cramped. Shabu is seated at the bar and their meats and veggie are delicious and fresh, enhanced by the tasty broth. It's even good on a summer day because they have solid air conditioning. Cannot say enough good things about Osawa. Go try it for yourself. :)

After more than a year away, I decided to give Osawa another try on May 8, 2026. Unfortunately, the experience confirmed why I had stopped coming. Around 9:02 p.m., my waiter came by to ask for last orders. I ordered chicken karaage. This is a simple dish that usually comes out in about 4 to 5 minutes. For whatever reason, the order did not arrive until around 9:26 p.m. -- almost 25 minutes later. It seemed obvious that the order had been forgotten. When the karaage finally arrived, it looked hastily sauced. Several parts of the chicken were unsauced, which is not how the dish was normally served in the past. Given the delay and the apparent mishandling, I did not touch the dish. A Japanese male manager wearing glasses then came over. He recognized me, and I explained that I had not been back for more than a year because of the food poisoning incident from fish in 2025. Instead of responding seriously, the manager smiled and giggled slightly, then launched into an irrelevant conversation about his connections in the Japanese food industry in Old Town Pasadena. When he asked why I had not touched the chicken, I explained the almost 30-minute delay and the problems with the dish. Rather than comping the item or offering a real apology, the manager asked whether I still wanted to eat it or would prefer to cancel it. He then ended the conversation by suggesting that I come in during weekday lunch for the $18 lunch specials. That response was bizarre and tone deaf. I did not return after a food poisoning incident to hear a sales pitch about lunch specials. I returned as a longtime customer giving Osawa another chance. Osawa's way of doing business has changed a lot. I've seen better customer service at Erewhon.

It was clear that the chef put a lot of thought into each bite. The ones that stood out the most to my group were the salmon sushi with toasted sesame (the nuttiness of the toasted sesame was incredible), unagi (the eel sauce was the best that I've ever had and I've been to Japan!), and the lobster hand roll. There's a few parking lots that are surrounding the place but they all require payment. I came here on a Wednesday night at 8 p.m. and there wasn't a wait fortunately! We were seated instantly next to two tables and I will say, it's an uncomfortable few seconds (for both parties) squeezing in between to sit down since the tables are so close together. I will say that the restaurant has a dark/intimate ambiance since it's lit by the candles at your table. My table ordered 2 trust me's and 1 nozawa trust me. You're served with a plate of edamame and then each fish one by one. They wait for the entire table to finish eating the plate in front of you before going back to the kitchen to let them know when to prepare to following dish. The fish literally feels like it melts in your mouth. You get a chance to chew but then everything else melts in your mouth. The sushi rice they use is magnificent. When the sushi comes out, the rice is so warm and the fish on top is cold and it's honestly an amazing experience in your mouth.

I was very surprised at the size of our plates, it made the price very worth it! Ordered the Spicy bulgogi ramen but I wouldn't say that it's even spicy which is fine for me I'm not even a huge fan of spice. 10/10! My fiancee ordered the Bulgogi entree that comes with steamed rice & miso soup. They are not stingy with meat here and the meat quality is pretty good. 10/10 for him. The nigiri had pretty big pieces of salmon on top so the ratio of fish to rice was a little unbalanced, not enough rice. The salmon was good quality though, 8/10. My partner and I shared the rainbow roll, mango cha cha roll, lemon salmon roll, salmon bento box, and cheese bulgogi. I really enjoyed the creative specialty sushi rolls, with my favorite roll being the mango cha cha roll. It tasted savory from the crispy shrimp tempura, while the fresh mango on top added a nice, refreshing pop of sweetness. As for the lemon salmon roll, it tasted fresh and more citrus-forward. Surprisingly, the salmon bento box was very filling and balanced. This included 2 pieces of grilled teriyaki salmon, 4 pieces of California roll, mixed tempura, miso soup, and a small salad with dressing. For anyone who does not eat raw fish, this would be the perfect dish. For the cheese bulgogi, there was a sweet-savory soy garlic flavor. I liked that the meat was thinly sliced, which paired perfectly with the gooey melted cheese. However, it was a bit saltier than I'd like it to be. Some rice and miso soup was served alongside this to balance out the richness from the cheese. Service could have been better. It seems that the staff were not very attentive at times, even though the place was not busy. Nonetheless, all of the food was pretty good and there was a chill atmosphere. This is a solid sushi bar to visit for either lunch or dinner.

Supposedly there are Sushi Enya locations closer to where I reside on the west side, but I love Old Pas and the ambiance and quality of food here did not disappoint. The highlights of our meal were the Super Chirashi--which came with literally all of our favorite fish including a small spoonful of sweet uni and some extremely yummy tamago--the Cherry Blossom roll (a riceless Enya Special Roll, which means a dramatic presentation!) and the red snapper nigiri aka madai (served with yuzu paste and lemon juice). Although my husband felt that the amaebi was slightly slimy and wished that they served the hot sake in a way that kept the drink warm (you're probably wondering how I managed to survive his critical standards--you and me both!), everything else did not miss a beat. We noticed other customers were enjoying the omakase--the premium at the bar is $250 pp and the "lower" tier table omakase is $185 pp. everything looked delicious but I am also a control freak and enjoy being able to select what I want. With that perspective, the chirashi really was the way to go for me (and next time I'll just add on another order of uni!). In the end, Sushi Enya may not end up being our go-to omakase, if only because their other offerings are so good! Fresh fish, tasty sushi rice and tempura, and attentive and efficient waitstaff. 5/5 stars easy!
