Best Korean fried chicken I've ever had. Actually best fried chicken I've ever had. Definitely worth any drive, trip, hassle to get these. Customer service is also very nice. read more

CM Chicken is a very well known restaurant for Korean style fried chicken in Illinois, Pennsylvania, and now in New Jersey! Their newest location located in Montclair, NJ is a casual and trendy must try for fried chicken lovers! I ordered the tikku red hot chicken, soy green onion chicken, soy garlic gizzard, calamari, fried shrimp, and milkis (Korean soda). All of the chicken and gizzard pieces were tender, crispy, and juicy--even fully white meat pieces! The crunchiness of all the dishes is unmatched and oh so satisfying. The tikku red hot chicken is my favorite, being spicy without an overbearing gojujang (Korean red pepper paste) taste paired with a subtle after-taste of honey which further highlights the spice! The soy green onion chicken had a savory but fresh taste due to the yummy mass of green onions on top. The soy garlic gizzard is the perfect dish to pair with beer and conversation, which is great since CM Chicken is BYOB! The waitress Ruqayyah and the manager Eric were the only two people serving and cleaning tables (they are currently hiring), and they both did a great job tending to a busy and nearly-full restaurant environment. I truly love all the dishes ordered, left full and satisfied, and look forward to trying their sold out curry chicken flavor in the future. Would recommend! read more

We got takeout for soy garlic tikku tenders (boneless) and waffle fries (note: came with daikon on the side as well complimentary) . First off, the takeout containers were ingenious: paper box with tinfoil to keep warm and a hole to let steam out and prevent soggy food. Second, the food was delicious. Perfect level of spice ( I would say medium). Delicious and cannot wait to go back. read more

The was amazing this was my first time here. The food truly had the Korean double fry. The food wasn't greasy and the right amount of spice

If you've ever wondered what finely sliced wasabi-infused green onions draped over fried chicken taste like, do yourself a favor and get to CM chicken. The spicy garlic, the soy garlic, the bog-standard fried chicken (always tenders), everything on the menu here, really is amazing. Tender, crispy and only subtly fatty, never greasy. read more

Some of the best fried chicken we've had. Really solid flavors- we had soy garlic and would love try the other flavors. We'll be coming back! read more

The chicken is really good and they have great customer service. We had the garlic soy chicken and will definitely get it again. It had a nice kick of spice. read more

Great food! Went there an hour before closing and they were kind enough to accept us and waited until we were done. Great service and the gizzard is must!! Will definitely be going back. read more

Saw a video on tik tok of a review of this place and had to try it. I don't like places that say there chicken is crispy and get it and it's soggy so this place definitely captured all my expectations. Ordered the original fried wings and the Tikku soy garlic tenders. They were both really good! The French fries that come with the meals could have been cooked a bit longer but other then that the food was great! Definitely recommend. read more

We will definitely be back and I will post pics then. Dined here for the first time last week with my husband and daughter. Chill vibes overall. Good service. GREAT food. We got the spicy garlic wings and the snow onion original wings. Preferred the snow onion since that sauce was bomb dotcom and we are an onion loving family. Also preferred the original fried chicken over the saucy option which had more of a processed flavor. Both were insanely juicy and perfectly fried tho. Onion rings were not oily and big pieces of onions (was not exaggerating our love of onions). I may do takeout in the future. The place was clean and comfortable but maybe there was a dive bar in this location before CM opened. It's still got that smell if you know what I mean. If you do want to dine-in, place is BYO which is another plus. read more

Delicious, juicy, and moist chicken. So good that I had it two days in a row! Hubby and I tried the soy garlic tikku and snow chicken wings - if I'm being honest the soy garlic tikku is the way to go. And the fried dumplings were banging as well. Give this place a try! read more

-the best korean fried chicken I've ever had -I've had the whole chicken soy garlic tikku and the curly fries which is a good meal for 2 people or maybe even 3 read more

This review is for their Montclair Location! The first time I went was during their grand opening week!!!! It was delicious! I have been a few times since and it is yummy every time! I went this past Saturday and it was just as yummy! I have their tenders in original, soy garlic and soy garlic tikku. The tikku has more spice than the regular soy garlic. So if you like spice this is for you! The chicken itself is Crispy with a capital C. It is juicy well seasoned and yummy! The sauces are balanced. The amount of sauce to chicken is perfect! The daikon makes a perfect palate cleanser. The next thing I go I have to try some of their fun drinks ! read more

This Korean fried chicken joint is a hidden gem in Montclair. I had the Tikku soy garlic chicken and seasoned spicy soy garlic chicken tenders. Both were amazing and I thought the spicy tenders were a bit sweet too. I would recommend trying the Tikku soy garlic chicken- they charcoal grill the tenders to give them a distinct fire-y taste. 10/10 would go again. read more

This place is absolutely fantastic. My friends and I ordered the flavored spicy garlic tenders and the tikku soy garlic, curry and red hot flavors. We were thoroughly impressed with the quality of food that CM Chicken provided, especially because this was a take out order. The meat to breading ratio is great. I would go as far as to say it's about 80% meat, 20% bread, which can't be said for many other restaurants. Would highly recommend! read more

If you are craving perfectly fried and breaded chicken - this place is your spot. They have mastered the art of fried chicken - if you like spicy or not, they will help you get what you want. The staff there is good about answering questions. We had the onion rings, waffle fries, regular fries all perfectly cooked and were steaming on the inside when it arrived. The radishes that come with the wings pair fantastically. The wait to get food was a bit long but there were no issues with the food when it came so it was no big deal - we got pork dumplings on the house which was kind of them. read more

This is the some of the best chicken I've eaten in ages! Tender, crispy and a little on the spicy side! The fries were good, too- they served generous portions of them. We were looking over the menu they included with our order, and found a ton of other offerings that we can't wait to try. Add in the fact that they delivered our order in less than 20 minutes, and we've got a winner! We will definitely be ordering from them again, and we will be recommending them to all of our friends. read more

Was excited to try this place out after watching them prep the opening for months. Ordered 2 chicken sandwiches (one regular, one spicy ginger) -- received 2 regular. Also ordered some tenders spicy ginger. The sandwiches were mediocre; the flavor of the spicy ginger was not bad though. Too bad the order was wrong. All items came with regular fries which were not fried, very soggy and soft. Definitely would recommend trying the waffle or curly fries instead. Here's to hoping they improve quickly. read more

This place BLASTS Kpop music! I couldn't hear myself think. I had to leave. Why do they do that? Who wants that while your eating???

Their fried chicken is amazing! Perfectly tender on the inside and super crispy on the outside. We got the regular with no sauce or extra flavoring and it was so flavorful. The French fries portions are really generous and one side was definitely enough for 2-3 people. The staff there is super kind and friendly, too. read more

Efficient and friendly place - Food was fine as well except soy garlic chicken was spicy - which I didn't expect. Overall, a good experience for take out order but when conditions change, I'd like to eat in for full dining experience. read more

CM Chicken - Main entrance and seating area - Korean Near Me - Montclair, New Jersey

Fun atmosphere, great service + super kind staff, and the best Korean fried chicken I've ever had!! Can't wait to come back :)

Montclair fried chicken fans - rejoice! I've tried out a lot of fried chicken in the area and this is by far my favorite. First a quick rundown of the spots I've tried. There's two sit-down restaurants that currently offer fried chicken dinners. Both are Southern Fried Chicken and both are good, but one is better IMO. There's a couple of Southern Fried Chicken grab-and-go joints; the one that's not the national chain is good, not great. I haven't eaten at the national chain. I've tried finding Korean Fried Chicken in the area too. One Korean place in the area seems like it has good Korean food, but the wings I had there were terrible. There's another spot in the town next door that has solid Korean Fried Chicken. But, like I said, CM Chicken tops them all. First, it's a grab-and-go place (you can eat there if you want as well), it's not a sit-down, table-service place. So, if the craving hits, you can just go in and get your food quickly. Second, there's all kinds of flavors and toppings. I tried the Garlic Spicy 1 pound box, a classic choice, which was delicious. I did take-out and I knew I was in for a treat when the I took my first bite at home and the chicken was still deliciously crunchy. It's a generous portion. I also had the waffle fries and a side of rice - both good. I couldn't finish the box, so I had the rest for lunch the next day and they were still mostly crispy! So good. I'll be going back over and over. I do wish they had some more side veg options like coleslaw or pickled Korean vegetables, but maybe it's just because it's a new place and the menu will get tweaked. When I posted my review, I saw some pictures that have pickled radish, so maybe those just weren't available when online ordering yet. One funny thing: it's in an old Mexican restaurant, so most of the decor is decidedly still Mexican. I could care less, especially because the chicken is so tasty, but it's just a funny juxtaposition. Welcome to the neighborhood! Can't wait to come back! read more

Korean is one of my top ten cuisines and I'm thrilled we now have a Korean chicken spot in Montclair. The server asked if I wanted him to explain the menu and graciously went on to tell me about the chicken flavors. I was glad to see that they offer banchan - the best pickled white radish I've ever had, and also some fresh carrot and celery sticks with ranch dressing. I so appreciate the way Korean cuisine is offered in a very organized manner; in addition to the two banchan, I received an extra plate on which to serve myself some of each. I ordered very fresh and delicious fried pork dumplings, then the tikku red hot chicken tender burger - a mildly sweet and hot and garlicky flavor combo, topped with excellent Korean-inspired coleslaw. I need to find a friend next time to share an order of drumsticks with. Next time I might order rice as a side instead of fries for authenticity. My server going ahead of me to hold the door open as I left was a nice touch. I really hope this place sticks around. read more

All I can say is wow!! Very impressed with how good everything was. The chicken was perfectly breaded with just the right amount of sauce, and the fries were perfect. Not dry or too greasy. First Time trying and I will definitely be back! read more

Came to try this new Korean fried chicken in the neighborhood. With all the rave reviews. Unfortunately this place is not what I expected as I have tasted many Korean fried chicken places. I ordered soy garlic wings. The chicken was tasty but was very soggy and not crispy as most places like Bonchon or Boom Boom Chicken. The fries was also soggy seemed like it did not cook through and needed more time. was a disappointment. read more

Food is delicious. Solid fries - both the curly and regular. The soy gizzards were to die for. Crispy nuggets bursting with flavor, I was in heaven. Because we were there with our two young kids, we ordered the plain whole fried chicken. Crispy, flavorful. The kids loved it. We will def be back. read more

The best fried chicken we have had in the area! Soy garlic tikku wings were the best! We will be coming back for sure!

Good Korean fried chicken for the area. Tried the original and the spicy. Both were good, but not too spicy. The calamari was also very good. A little read more

Talk about hella damn good fired chicken. No joke these guys know what they are doing. I went with a group of work friends and we got the fried shrimp , and boy was it tasty . I would definitely come back again. read more

Chicken wing were great sweet n hot spicy just way i like em. Definitely gotta try other things in the menu. Its a little pricey though

this review is just for to go. first thing, if you're driving it will be a pain trying to find a spot even for waiting so either dine in or bring someone along to go down and pick up. had high expectations due to good reviews and it would've been awesome if this is my first time to eat korean chicken. ordered the original and soy garlic. original is good but not better than bbq chicken, same for the soy garlic but not better than bon chon. their competitors have an easier access to take out(either own parking or less busy area) so that will keep us from ordering here. prices are almost the same or even slightly higher so it makes no consolation on picking them. packaging is nice, probably the best among korean fried chickens that ive tried. overall a good korean fried chicken place if you're already in the area or if youre lucky enough to find parking read more
