My experience with Clutter, so far, has been mixed. On the one hand the moving crew of Joseph and Fernando were great. They showed upon time, worked efficiently, gave useful advice and were just overall friendly and pleasant. They are a credit to the operation. On the other hand my experience with customer service reps has been pretty poor. I emailed the rep who I had originally spoken to the day prior to move date and heard nothing. I called the listed number. Nothing. Apparently he was off but why were my queries not forwarded!!!!I emailed another address I found online and someone finally responded. I asked questions and uploaded photos she requested. She never got back to me. I also never received the attachment confirming all billing services or the guide that spells out what they take. So last minute discovered many items could not be moved and stored. Pretty lame. All the modern tech and apps are great but old fashioned phone calls and reliability and availability are more important. Fix this. We'll see how things go moving forward. read more

I needed one item picked up, and had a quote of $39. and fell ill the night before, and got charged a "$100 cancelation fee" that they pulled from my account without saying a thing, which created a huge hardship for my family. The day before my 7am appointment it was updated to 9am which wasn't really a huge deal but weird they updated just before our move. 2 guys arrived to help us pack and moved. They noted there was a lot to do and that really 3 people would have been better for the job. They also noted that they were originally slated 3 hours to do this job and it was looking more like a 5 hour job. My fiancé ended up helping the guys pack up all our items. Something we would have done but we thought we would get better service when we selected "all items" under what we need help packing. Fast forward to unloading our items to our house. 2 items arrived with broken legs and on top of that our movers didn't want to move any of our items upstairs for us. We were kind of tired and just told them to leave the items in our living room or garage and we would figure it out. For $1k we definitely expected a service that would AT LEAST move furniture items into the rooms we needed them in. While having their help expedited our packing and moving we were left feeling pretty disappointed. We've filed claims for our broken furniture and have not heard back yet, it's been about 1 week. So so so completely disappointed and upset this company didn't take any responsibility for destroying my things. They stated that since they didn't pack the bins, they were not liable. (I had origins sent my things to storage a year ago when the company was called Livible. Livible was bought by Wayforth, then Wayforth was bought by Clutter). Livible never offered professional packing at any time to me at the time, and it's just plain wrong that Clutter will not cover for the company they bought, especially since the damage happened on their business property, regardless of time. I found a place that I loved but my current lease was expiring before the new one started. Also, my lease was ending midweek, so I couldn't get friends to help out with the move. I've hired movers before and it was really expensive. And in this case, I'd also need movers that stored my stuff until I had the new apartment. Fortunately, I found out about this service from a friend who referred me (I got $100 off using the referral) and I was able to have a stress free move. The pick up team was really helpful. Nikole, Luke and Zach were super efficient. I had low balled the amount of stuff I had and they were very understanding. Nikole gave me constant updates on my order and also asked for my confirmation while upgrading me from the 5x10 to the 7x10 storage. I had a couch, a standing desk, a queen bed and 6 medium boxes, I also had several miscellaneous items that I didn't mention initially. Despite that, Nikole and her team (Luke and Zach) showed up on time, listed items to be stored, packed all of them safely, and finished all of this in an hour and a half. I scheduled the drop off a few days after the pickup. I was pleasantly surprised to see Nikole leading the drop off crew as well. Nikole, Jack and Spencer showed up in a timely manner on the day I moved in. It took them less than 30 minutes to drop off my items and unpack the bigger items (mattress, couch, desk). They also assembled my standing desk before heading out. I was really grateful that all my items were returned safely without any issues. I am an international college student. I have used this service for 3 years while attending college, and I USED to love this service, but I am beyond disappointed, hurt, and betrayed by Clutter's treatment of their customers. I had been told by the apartment I was about to move into that my move-in had been delayed by six days. I called Clutter on Friday (my storage delivery appointment was scheduled for the following Monday) to explain the situation and request that the movers come past 12 p.m. as I do not receive the keys until 12 p.m. The service provider I was on the phone with said they could note this and inform the operations team the day of. Today is Monday. First of all, I had put my phone number down for this specific delivery, but they somehow called my mother and woke her up at midnight because she lives in Singapore. I got a call from my mother saying the team was here at 8 a.m. Mind you, I am not currently at this new place as I don't even have the keys. I immediately called support and was on the phone for an hour. The service provider just continued to say that they did not ever guarantee this and that I would still have to face the cancellation fee and wait 14 hours to reschedule a delivery, which also isn't available for another TWO WEEKS. I AM A COLLEGE STUDENT. I AM STARTING MY SENIOR YEAR, AND NOW I DON'T EVEN HAVE A BED TO SLEEP ON OR PANS TO COOK WITH. How is there such a lack of sympathy for your customers? I kept pleading and explaining, but she continued, "I am sorry, there is nothing we can do. You can reschedule.". You are making a college student spend over $200 in cancellation fees and over $100 in rescheduling a delivery. How is this fair? When I had communicated every detail of why I could not take this delivery before noon. Even after crying on the phone and pleading, nothing was done to help. No waiver of the cancellation fee, no option to reschedule for an earlier time, nothing. I am floored at the lack of sympathy and customer service Clutter has. Even after I asked for the cancellation fee to be waived, I was told that that would not be possible and that I would have to file a claim just to get my money back. ONLY MONEY, not even rescheduling the appointment. There is clearly no compensation, sympathy, or second thought that Clutter gives to their customers. Another detail I would like to add, I have recommended Clutter to several of my friends. My new roommate also uses Clutter. She also called Clutter to explain the situation THE DAY BEFORE HER APPOINTMENT, and they still understood and noted that her stuff was still being delivered on time. How come there is so much disconnect within the team? There are serious issues within Clutter itself, which they need to figure out and not put the blame on their customers. If you do not allow something because it is apparently "not done in the protocol," then how come other customers can request specific details but not others? Figure out your issues internally first. Now I am sitting here, and I have to face hundreds of dollars in bills which are not even due to my error, and I have to sleep in my home without a mattress, clothes, pots, pans, or plates, all due to Clutter's inability to communicate effectively with one another and their customers. To be brought to TEARS on a phone call and crying and pleading to get the fair service I PAID FOR is unacceptable, and that is an understatement. A bit late on this update but wanted to make sure I write this. Clutter customer service called me after my Yelp review and assigned someone to help me. I believe his name was Jeremy and he was SUPER nice and helpful. I will definitely give him a 5 star because he was very professional and considerate. He was able to give me some credit back to reimburse a part of my claim. The reason I am not giving it a 5 star is because of all the time I had to spend on this, the back and forth emails and calls with the company and most importantly I am not able to replace some of these broken furniture which were unique. This company is heavily messed up. I had a long-term relocation coming up and they canceled the appointment with a 15-minute notice. The reason was some "operational shortages due to COVID-19." Here're multiple problems associated with this: 1. Sure. Healthy & Safety is a concern. However, also it is you, the corporate's responsibility to mitigate such risks to avoid such disruptions. If COVID started happening last week, sure, I would still be frustrated, but I understand. But, this has been around for 3+ years, with multiple vaccines out. This is NOT an unforeseen issue. Hence, there could've been multiple steps to prevent or mitigate such situations, especially for something like COVID. Even airlines figured these things out nowadays. There was no good faith effort to mitigate such damages or have back-up plans. 2. You have to remember, this is a long-term move & storage, which causes a huge disruption and poses a legal impact on multiple stakeholders when such things are changed. We make a contract, and the company penalizes customers for such changes on a short notice, but there's no way for us to penalize the company for such reasons? It's such a high risk for us to find back-ups on such a short notice. A disruption caused on the company is purely a monetary damage, whereas for us it could also be legal and other non-monetary. Money just simply can't solve everything. 3. The way you, the company, try to get away with this is by "giving a sincere apology" and "waiving the $100 cancellation fee." Waiving the $100 fee? I should not be charged at the first place anyways for such a breach of contract. I am already preparing a legal action against the company. I already escalated this to Trust & Safety team, so you don't need to advise me on what I need to do. If you are not ready to do the business properly, please suspend your operations instead of misleading the public and causing harms to people. read more

Day 2: Again, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. After not showing up for my scheduled appointment yesterday they rescheduled me for today between 12-3pm. At 1:30 I get an alert that they are in route. About 15 minutes later I get a text that the movers need to take a mandated lunch break before arriving. They finally arrive at 3pm and tell me that they only have until 4:45 because their truck is full of someone else's belongings and Clutter added my trip to their route last minute. GOD HELP ME. I booked a time to move things out of my aging father's apartment, and Clutter sent me a text which said, "Unfortunately we need to reschedule your Smart Storage" THE MORNING OF THE MOVE. The logistical impact of Clutter's failure was huge. I had to scramble all day to find a new storage facility and truck, and move everything out on my own. Great service! Movers did a great job packing and taking everything out. They seemed to wrap and package things carefully. They were also friendly and answered any questions I had. They wore masks which was nice. For context, I live in a 2 bed 2 bath ~1000 SQ ft apartment in Seattle, and this was only for my stuff. I had a couch, bed, bedframe, small desk, small nightstand, a couple small plastic dressers, a monitor, a chair, etc. Online photo inventory is nice. Prices are great as well. I was quoted $88/month for a 10x10 space, for an 8 month or more commitment. Movers cost $117/hour for the services pickup and delivery. Also got emails and messages automatically sent the day before my appointment giving tips on how to prepare and organize my things to make the movers job faster. They didn't take bathroom liquids, or my plunger, which was unexpected but understandable. My appointment was for 9 am-12 pm, but they didn't come until 10 am. I was expecting to get a "we've started over" text as per the previous day's email but didn't get that, so I was a little worried. Calling customer service to get mover status also didn't work (usually customer service is awesome though at picking up my calls and answering questions). They did get here at 10 am, and called me when they arrived. Being late wasn't an inconvenience to me anyway, and it turns out they had some availability issues to sort out on their end leading to the delay. The process was very easy for me, and I was able to do other work out of the way while they worked. It took longer than I expected (3 hours, rather than my expected 2 hours). Overall a great service to drastically reduce stress of moving logistics! I only had to leave the front door of the apt once to let them in and give them a spare key to get in and out of the apt. If you like wasting money and damaging your personal belongings, then Clutter is the right moving/packing provider for you! Our customer experience with Clutter began in July 2017 when I received a very competitive quote relative to other self storage units in the Ballard area. I liked the company concept (i.e., they pack, store, and unpack all of your belongings), so I elected to use them for our storage needs while I moved abroad. What I didn't know was that I'd have a TERRIBLE customer experience during all stages of the process (pick-up, storage, and drop-off). Pick-up Disaster: (1) During the pick-up, the crew of inexperienced movers forgot to bring tools to break down our furniture, which led to delays. Seriously?! You didn't bring tools?? (2) The crew stripped the screws on our bed, which has left it damaged beyond repair. (3) They clipped our neighbors tree and broke several large branches. Our neighbor came outside to yell at the crew, who were non-responsive to her complaints. Out of frustration, she stole their handcart before they took off. Upon emailing Clutter to report this incident, they were unresponsive on a clear path of action to recoup the damages. Lack of Transparency in Storage: While I was quoted $117/month based on our belongings. However, upon receiving my first bill, I realized that we were being charged a 24% mark-up. According to Clutter, our belongings took up more space (which you can't validate). This lack of transparency really sucks. Once your stuff is on the truck, they've got you by the balls as you cannot validate the storage size required for your belongings. Drop-off Damage: Upon receiving our belongings this week after 1.5 years of storage, we noticed more damages. The crew that packed our belongings applied duct tape directly to our leather couch, which has damaged the upholstery. Moreover, our personal effects were basically thrown into boxes (no paper wrapping). These guys are amateur not professional, movers. They did NOT LABEL A SINGLE BOX. So I have 20 boxes, and no idea which is kitchen, which is bedroom. Total mess. I asked them to label, and labelled one in front of them as an example. They did nothing. They ALSO failed to dissassemble my ikea furniture. I gave them the instructions and tools. They ignored it, and wrecked my bedframe and damaged my couch (and took WAY too much space in my storage unit as a result). Then, to top it all, their Claim process denied EVERYTHING (even the guitar stand that broke in their truck, a $10 item!) Oh yeah, they showed up an hour late AND took 4 hours to pack a half empty 450 foot apartment! What the heck, right? I have no idea why they needed so many boxes cause there just wasn't much there to move. (Four pieces of furniture, and half the storage in the unit was already empty.) It ran so long I had no choice but to help them unload into storage. So it came to almost $1,000 to move a 450 foot apartment to a storage unit 10 miles away. I could have done it myself with a uhaul and 2 of their guys in half the time, for less than half the price, and gotten it "right." So, use at your own risk. And FOR SURE stay and supervise them (they said they were cool, so I went and did some important errands). Wait, it gets better! They reach out to me, multiple times (first after the move, then after this review). Both times they say "We will circle up with you and make at least some of this right." They explained they couldn't deliver our things earlier but they can provide some compensation for expenditures for essentials we need while we wait for the delivery. I did extensive research on where to store my belongings for a month and Clutter definitely exceeded my expectations in terms of the service they offer. They provide packing materials AND assistance with packing (which I didn't use, but still great!), moving materials, movers to move your things in and out of storage for a pretty good deal! Definitely the way to go if you're on a budget and don't have people to help you move your belongings. When I got my initial quote, they were very friendly, accommodating and upfront about their pricing and services. However , I was not satisfied with the email inventory they sent following my phone conversation. All items listed were accurate and cost were listed but it was too general. I would have felt more comfortable if the page was more organized, easy to follow and had the location site I requested for. Aside from this, team Kainon and Curtis were great! They were polite, professional, strategic and handled my belongings with care. I was given a window time between 9-12 for them to show up and they arrived between 9:30 and 10am. It took them some time to take pictures of my things and moving my boxes and furniture but at the same time there were only two of them! They took their time labeling and taking pictures of my things, thought carefully about taking down my items (they had to disassemble my dining table to save space, totally fine) and organizing them in the truck. Definitely a lot to think about and be efficient:). After the 2 and a half hours of moving, Kainon reviewed my inventory with me, did a complete walk through my place to make sure they grabbed it all, and even clarified my estimate with dispatch.
