I have had storage of my late mothers oil paintings since 2012. She was trained at the NY Academy of Fine Arts in Manhattan and had won awards for her works in shows. Three weeks ago we brought them home only to find them stacked against each other and stuck together, and about 15 of them are missing. We are still attempting to figure this out. Maybe more. It is completely heart-breaking to me as I thought her work was being honored in a safe facility. In addition, Clutter removed labels from each of the boxes so that it was necessary to summons all the works in order to organize them or even get to one of them. Do not use clutter. I used clutter to move and store my apt for 1 month and move me back into the new one. Every part of the process was bad. The movers arrived very late on the pick up and very early on the drop off. They lost the hardware for my dining table completely, and severely damaged my entertainment center. They only wanted to give me a small refund for the table despite it now being useless, and despite that I paid for extra insurance coverage. Their packing is extremely inconsistent. some things were packed carefully, while others were just thrown together with no packaging (see photos below). They also failed to photograph about 1/2 of the boxes before they packed them, making the "smart storage" useless. It was a much cheaper option, but you really get what you pay for. read more

The Worst Moving Company I hired them to move a few items out of a home that was under contract and due to close in 4 days. They sent two movers, 1 dolly with a flat tire and no tools. Their movers ask me to use the tools that I had at my house. It took them 1 hour to get my couch out and I had to talk to them through getting it through the doorway. By the time they were done they damaged the door so much I had to replace it, and the couch fell over as soon as they got it outside. Second, they wrapped my ottoman, stood it up on its side and it fell through the wall leaving a large hole. In the upstairs bedroom they scratched the bottom of the baseboard and left an entire dresser in the room. They were willing to pick it up if I paid for it. I had to pay a different company to get it because they refused to come back before my closing. These were movers from hell, and I ended up getting a storage space a Public Storage for them not to move anything into my new home. They moved my items into a storage unit, and I am paying a different moving company to move my items. Finally, they offered me less than 800.00 to pay for all my damages. They charged me for going over the time, when their people did not come prepared nor equipped to do the move. My advice, use a different company. read more

I've used Clutter's multiple pickup /drop-off service, and I want to be very clear: every single mover I've worked with has been exceptional. They are professional, efficient, mostly careful with belongings, and consistently helpful. If I could hire the movers themselves, I would; they are the strongest part of this company. Unfortunately, the claims/ and most customer service experience is the complete opposite, and it has reached a point where I would hesitate to use Clutter again. My original (close-out) appointment was cancelled because Clutter attempted a second authorization on my card without notifying me despite the fact that all fees had already been paid. I keep my cards locked due to past fraud, so the lack of communication directly caused the cancellation. When I contacted the claims department, the responses I received were unprofessional, templated, and dismissive. Instead of acknowledging this, the representative by the name of Dayane responded with, "I'm sorry that you felt the need to..." - a phrase that is inappropriate, unprofessional, and shifts blame onto the customer rather than addressing the company's actions. To make matters worse, when the issue was escalated, the next representative, used the phrase "from your perspective." As someone who has worked in customer service for most of my career, I know the difference between neutral language and dismissive, liability‑shielding language. Phrases like "your perspective" or "you felt the need to" are not neutral - they minimize the actual issue and place the burden back on the customer. This is not how I was trained to speak to customers, even in difficult situations, and it's concerning to see it used repeatedly as part of their standard script. To be fair, Karoll did offer to schedule a call, and I appreciated the willingness to follow up. But the fact that it took escalation to receive a basic level of professionalism only highlights the inconsistency and lack of training within the claims/customer service team. Clutter has a great concept and outstanding movers, but the claims/customer service department needs serious improvement. Much worse was the condition of my boxes when I closed my account last week. The boxes look like they had been picked up, thrown around, smashed against each other, and many of the items inside were broken and damaged. One box was lost completely. Do NOT use Clutter. The low price may seem tempting, but you're risking losing your most valued possessions with little to no compensation. They somehow lost a massive wardrobe box containing my entire hanging closet and other items -- about $15,000 worth of clothes. Because I packed it myself and didn't have their extra insurance (which I now highly recommend getting), they initially offered me $50. After weeks of back-and-forth and even providing receipts for a few of the items, their final offer was $1,000. They also refused to give any discount on my ongoing storage or even a complimentary pickup/delivery so I could verify that the rest of my items were still there. That was just the worst part. Before that: * They told me a week before my move that my pickup had to be split over two days, with the second scheduled days after I had to vacate my apartment! * Two of the three movers were brand new -- one only a month in, the other on his first day -- and had no idea what they were doing. * Their customer service often promises follow-up by email and never does. I hired clutter to move my large apartment to storage, The first day they were slow and didn't listen to my instructions, but it was basically fine (other than the fact that the Truck they sent had less than half the capacity required for the storage unit I had purchased). The second day they sent a completely different team (much to my surprise). This team saw one cockroach and stopped working. I would emphasize that my place was reasonably clean, with the biggest messes being the result of the ongoing move and nothing remotely unusual. Absolutely nobody ever reached out to me. I tried to talk to the movers and they avoided me (out of fear that I would tell their boss?). Then I got a text message telling me that they were cancelling the move. I had a great full-service pack-up and move-out experience--and stored my belongings for 5 months. Professional moving team, objects were handled with care and packed safely, for the most part. However, on move-in/return of my possessions, things did not go so smoothly. Not the team of movers' fault, as far as I could tell, but my TV either never made it into storage or never made it off the truck... it was marked 'returned' along with everything else but not among the deliveries. They make promise they cannot keep. I have a deeply frustrating and unacceptable experience with Clutter that remains unresolved. My delivery was completed incompletely. Critical parts of a couch were missing and were never delivered. This was not a minor issue -- the furniture is unusable without these parts. Despite this, Clutter marked the job as completed and has continued to send me automated surveys asking me to rate the service as finished. To be absolutely clear: the job was not completed. I followed Clutter's instructions exactly and submitted a formal claim. Despite clear evidence that items were missing, I was told that "Clutter is not at fault," without any confirmation that the storage unit was physically checked to verify whether the missing items were still there. This is the central issue, and it has never been answered. Customer service has been extremely slow and inconsistent. What is most disappointing is the lack of accountability. Clutter acknowledges that claims must go through Trust & Safety, yet Trust & Safety appears to have made a decision without confirming whether the missing items were actually delivered or remain in storage. This leaves the customer stuck in limbo while Clutter closes the case and takes no responsibility. If the missing items are still in storage, they should be delivered immediately and at no cost, as this situation is the result of Clutter's mismanagement. I had Clutter.com scheduled 5 weeks prior to my move, they made me confirm 24 hours in advance, and charged a deposit to my credit card. 9 hours before my move they rescheduled it four days later. I moved from California to NYC, paid a move in fee for Monday, had to get insurance for Clutter.com, and had to rent a truck and do the move myself. They cancelled due to "operational constraints" and when I called they said they cancel 4-5 moves per day. This means the business oversells their capacity and then fail to meet operational requirements. Lastly, when I called customer service, I was told I would be getting reimbursed for losses and I have filed two claims and the only response I got was DENIED. And, lastly when I looked at Clutter.com investor set - no surprise they are funded by SoftBank. A notorious investor in tech-first, not customer-first technology. When I was making an appt to move to MA they said they do not service MA and they said I wasn't allowed to pick up with a 3rd party mover. My stuff is still in storage. The only option is to get another storage unit for a month- fly to Pittsburgh to make sure it's ok and then have another moving company come- Which is inconvenient and expensive. On the scheduled date, they came to pick up my daughter's storage items, and there was a minor hold up at the front desk (less than 5 minutes and mind you, we had a three hour block of time from them). My job was half finished due to the team leaving to attend to another customers booking, despite that I rescheduled to meet my bld's strick elevator requirements. I was assured by several reps that the team would be on time. However, I was told the day of the 2nd appt that they were running late and would miss elevator window . Unacceptable that other clients were prioitized over my unfinished job and yet I am expected to deal with delays. The lack of coordination lead to additional money for my contractor and caused me to loose work days. If they do not fulfill their end if the contract you have with them and something happens to your stuff, they decide what they are and aren't liable for and will offer you $1 per pound on anything you've put into a box, so the max per box would be $50. They've essentially stolen my items and are offering what feels like pennies on the dollar to 'make up for it'. I have no idea what's happened to it. It could have been delivered to a random person, or left on the side of the road. Who knows. The people who moved my items were friendly enough, but overall truly a slimy corporation. read more

HORRIBLE COMPANY! Boycott Clutter! I placed items in long-term storage during the pandemic with a company called MakeSpace. They were great. Clutter acquired MakeSpace about a year after that. They doubled my monthly rental, and charged outrageous amounts to have the items delivered. When I finally had my items delivered, furniture was damaged and broken beyond repair. I reported a damage claim, and the claims department gave me the runaround then ghosted me. The compensation they offer for broken items is $1 per POUND. They pay by weight, not by the value or replacement cost. If you accept their paltry compensation, the Settlement Agreement you have to sign includes a Confidentiality article where you must promise not to bad-mouth the company on any reviews or social media or in person, and never reveal the terms or the existence of the Settlement Agreement. The document actually says that you agree to say "No Comment" if asked about Clutter and your experience with them. They offered me around $300 for damages to well over $3,000 worth of items. I didn't take the offer. I'll forfeit $300 if it means I can tell my story online and encourage people to boycott Clutter. My experience was in New York, and apparently people have the same issue with Clutter in other cities. The movers who delivered my items were great. We all saw that the damage was not the result of them moving the items. The items showed signed of prolonged mishandling while in storage. I wish someone would start a class action law suit against them. This company is horrible and needs to be held accountable. read more

Absolutely horrendous support. They will be relatively helpful and nice before they pick up your things, but once they have them - it's absolute trash. I ordered delivery and indicated that my building only gives me 3 hour slot and I booked it from 9 to 12. Since no one reached out to confirm, I messaged their support chat - who said that they are going to 'add a note' and operations team will be in touch. No one was in touch so I messaged them again after a day and this person said that... they'll 'add a note' to my request and I'll get confirmation the day before. The day before I got a message saying that my delivery window is 12 to 3. Some extra research gave me their phone number where again I was told 'they'll see what they can do'. Its the morning of the appointment and no one has reached out to me yet. read more
