The movers showed up high to the job. They left behind four paintings and several shelving units, and they left my carbon bicycle on the street for 3 hours and only remembered to bring it in right before they were about to leave for another job. One guy dragged my heavy bookcase across my hardwood floor. I'd asked them to bring floor protection and they showed up with what looked like a long yoga mat. My new floor job is scratched and dented. Some of the guys were conscientious but overall, a shit show of a move. read more

I had what I think was a pretty difficult move. There was a lot of stuff to get junked ... a LOT. There was less stuff to be moved, but the move-in destination was in Westchester County up two narrow, long and not quite level flights of stairs. One of the items to come up those stairs was a PIANO! The crew was cheerful, polite, happy, etc. Made me feel very comfortable in a time of a lot of stress for me. I had this company move my household contents and it was a horror show. This company is lucky to have over 50 bad reviews "filtered" on Yelp.com. Scroll to the bottom and click " filtered reviews" to see them. Read the bad reviews and see how they treat their customers. They are very nice until you have a compliant. After that you are ignored. Pathetic. Be aware that on some review sites, if you pay for advertising you are able to remove bad reviews. Look at their occasional responses to some of the bad reviews " you must be complaining about another company that used our name" is how they try to ignore a bad review. Over and over the reviews say that's even if you buy their insurance, you get nothing or next to nothing when items are broken. I hired this company and got ripped off. They overcharged me way beyond the estimate to double the cost of the move. read more

I started using moving right along about 17 years ago. They had tons of stuff to floors that's fantastic vintage or antique furniture. I bought several pieces of beautiful antique furniture from them as well as Vintage storage chests and when my in-laws passed away they came and picked up all of their furniture. The only problem I did have was I bought a chest that was antique and the lock was broke the guy that I always dealt with who delivered it took the lock out said he would repair it and bring it back well that never happened and I never saw the lock again into this day there's a hole in the trunk where the lock should be that was extremely disappointing!! I'm disappointed they no longer sell furniture they only do storage and moving. It's very sad to see all the bad reviews about this company now. read more

Recently, May 17, 2023, we needed help cleaning out an apartment in Manhattan after the death of my Aunt. Moving Right Along was fabulous. Despite a very cluttered apartment and a lot of books, furniture, clothes, paper, etc. Moving Right Along was very affordable, efficient and fast. They fulfilled all their commitments. Moving Right Along is a great service for anyone who hates their worldly possessions and wants to spend a significant amount of money hiring friendly men to bash their stuff against every available surface (see attached pictures). The litany of "misunderstandings" between us and this company was remarkably long: although they took an inventory of our items, they sent a truck that they thought was too small, which led to a heated morning-of-the-move phone call with their office about whether we'd like to pay to get a second truck, which turned out ("whoops!") to be totally unnecessary anyway as everything fit. Likewise, they got the arrival time wrong, "forgot" to inform us until a day before the move that they add a 3% charge for credit cards, and were quite hostile and unhelpful when we called to ask why we were being charged an additional travel time hour. Oh, and just yesterday (two weeks after the move), my credit card was declined. Strange, I thought, so I called my credit card company: looks like MRA forgot ("whoops again!") to remove the $3k hold they placed on my card on July 16. So for New Yorkers looking to be extorted by a company of incompetent mansplainers for the privilege of having their carefully-packed possessions damaged, Moving Right Along is the perfect choice for you. And I nearly forgot: although I informed each of the movers that we had put our two kittens in the bathroom, ALL THREE MEN used the bathroom, left the bathroom door open, the apartment door open, and to add insult to injury, the toilet seat up. When I went upstairs, I found one of our cats on the steps, freaking out. They apologized and still wanted their $120 tip. read more

It was going to be between flatrate and Moving Right Along and for a good reason, I decided to go with my gut and Moving Right Along. I had a difficult move that required a pickup at first location, then at 2nd, and then final destination. TJ Crew came in and did an amazing job. Took apart what needed, re-assembled at new place. Everything that needed to be wrapped was. Nothing was damaged, everything came in as pristine as it went out. I've done a few moves in my life and this was by far the easiest and most professional. They pack The stuff in boxes really well, almost to Will. The items out of boxes not so well. They broke a floor lamp a table lamp I never said a word. I broke a frame on my painting they broke a door on my computer cabinet and they lost the hanging bar on one of my bureaus. None of which I discovered until they left. They never said a word. This is a response to Tim, who replied to my 1 star review below (I don't have the option to do zero stars). To sum up, Moving Right Along lost a valuable vase of mine as well as two framed prints I'd brought back from Japan. They then denied responsibility for the loss, even saying I signed off on the delivery (meaning I signed that the 300 boxes had been delivered, but I certainly wasn't aware that the signature absolved them of all responsibility). Now, according to Moving Right Along, my insurance company did not take out insurance coverage on the move, so they aren't liable for the missing items. How about taking responsibility for something that is clearly your fault??? Insurance should cover me from unexpected damage, not incompetence on the part of my extremely high-priced "high end" Moving Company. read more

A Moving Right Along crew packed and sent our belongings to storage when we were temporarily relocated during apartment renovation last year (Lot No. AA4131). Among our belongings were the passports that my parents carried when they immigrated to America from their homes in Ireland. They were the only items that didn't return from storage, if they ever got there. I believe that they were taken by one of the movers. I have searched my apartment and the shipping boxes for months. These ninety-year-old documents have sentimental and substantial value. My father's Irish Free State passport is a direct path to Irish citizenship and European Union residence for me and my family.The documents are irreplaceable. I have a service that helps people to move or clean out their homes when they move to an assisted living facility. I have worked with Tim of Moving Right Along several times. The movers show up on time, they are courteous and professional and have always handled each move with kid gloves. Recently I had a complicated clean out project for someone who was moving to an assisted living. This person kept everything since the 1970's. In order to be able to go through the items and save what was important, I needed Moving Right Along to do the project in two phases. Tim was able to arrange this with no time constraint as to when the second half of the project would be done. Moving Right Along worked professionally with me and also with the building management company to coordinate the elevators and where to park their truck. There was an enormous amount of furniture, papers and knick knacks that needed to be removed. The guys worked continuously, quickly and professionally each day they were at the project. If there were any question as to what needed to be done, the guys were great with my direction. I would never hestiate to work with Tim and Moving Right Along. read more

Super people. Great service! I had bedbugs in one room, but needed to hire help to prepare for the treatment. I had just suffered a tragic loss in my family, my 23 year-old-son. Douglas and Ricardo showed up right on time, got to work promptly, asking questions frequently, explaining what I needed to handle myself. After finding a night table drawer that wouldn't close, Douglas reached back there and handed me a folder that held photos of my son as a toddler. It was a little miracle for me. Moving Right Along of OZONE PARK, NY: Moving Right Along of with all your electronics. Foremen that are going through a break up, and break down on the job. Instead of padding your furniture, padding their bank account...The worst experience with a moving company I've ever had, and I've done 21 local and long - distance moves! Keep in mind, this company makes bank selling used furniture too. Wonder where they get it from? First, the foreman started the job 2 hours late, only to be on his phone for the next hour. He said he was touching base with the office, and angrily snapped that he was "Working doing dish pack, lady!", but I later overheard another worker tell him "Not to take the break up so seriously. That b**** has you wack! Just forget about her.", so no, it wasn't a work text...or 20 texts...and no, Mr. Skinny wasn't wiping away tears, and repetitively punching the outside of my apartment building because of "work". Next, approximately $10,000 of electronics, mostly Apple laptops, and high - end server - type drives went missing, and interestingly, there was no record of all this stuff being packed. Literally, 6 people said they never saw it. Gone are photos of my 1st born when he was, well, born. I didn't think anyone would want THAT drive. It was really old, and worn! Finally, although I tipped and got insurance, the company took absolutely no responsibility for the situation, and finally after months of over-promising, and under - responsiveness, I took my husband's advice, and radically accepted that all my **** was stolen, never to be seen again. The last straw, a storage company that Moving Right Along contracts with for out of town storage was supposed to pick up some of my items, but they didn't. Fun, because who doesn't want to spend $500 to rent a Uhaul in the rain. read more

I went home to Seattle during COVID and unexpectedly had to vacate my apartment in NYC. I used Moving Right Along and they went into my apartment, packed everything up, moved it to storage, and then - months later when I was able to move back - moved it back to my apartment. I've been unpacking for the last several days and have been so pleasantly surprised! My items are all there, all professionally handled. Nothing is broken or dinked or dirty. This really was the best case scenario for me. The only reason I give 4 stars instead of 5 is that the company gave me a quote on the front end that didn't reflect certain fixed costs like the 3% surcharge for using a credit card, toll fees, and travel time. I learned about these costs the hard way. Additionally, I had difficulty getting a straight answer out of the office on the cost for the back end. That said, this communication trouble very likely was due to COVID and being short staffed rather than anything deliberate. I would use them again, I just would get everything in writing first and go through really clearly every possible additional cost before making a decision. read more

Very professional and quick movers - they don't waste much time at all but get straight to business and ensure the safety of your bigger items by wrapping them ie a couch, dresser. While I appreciate their good work, I was a little dismayed at the end price which ended up being nearly double the estimate I was quoted on the phone. read more

In preparing for my move from the Washington DC suburbs to Brooklyn, I was fortunate enough to have a friend recommend Moving Right Along. I'm so glad she did! Although I've moved 4 times since 2004, this was my first move outside of the DC area and involved significant downsizing from a 3-bedroom house to a 1-bedroom apartment on the 3rd floor of a walk-up building. Moving is usually a stressful experience, but as a native Washingtonian relocating to Brooklyn, I found planning this move to be uniquely stressful. I'm so glad I was able to work with an experienced company who is familiar with navigating NYC streets and buildings and who I could trust to handle all the logistical details of moving into my new home. I want to specifically recommend Timothy Garcia who was invaluable in helping me plan the move in the weeks leading up to moving day and who gave me a good sense of what I could expect in terms of timing and price. His estimate was both accurate and fair and I think Moving Right Along provides excellent value for the money. The moving team was also diligent and hardworking and I was impressed with their speed and efficiency. Not to mention their ability to haul my belongings up 3 flights of stairs! Even when there were some minor snafus on moving day, I'm impressed with how Moving Right Along proactively handled those problems. There was some confusion about the start time on moving into my new apartment, but I found it easy to get in touch with Tim who quickly sorted out the discrepancy and made sure that I wasn't charged for extra time when the team showed up earlier than anticipated. I should have known after the first move. Had the rep come to the house to get a quote. It was much less than Dumbo movers. At the end they charged more than Dumbo. We had most of the stuff in their storage as we were waiting on closing our house. During the second move to our new house, again they overcharged and, %40 of the stuff they brought belonged to someone else!. We will never recover the items we lost. They broke my cello and other items and offered a take it or leave it $167 for all the loss and broken items. It's disappointing because they are in my neighborhood. read more

I cannot say enough about this disgraceful, unethical company. They destroyed property of great value and have after 8 months still not paid the insurance claim - I purchased supplemental insurance just in case, as I always do since I have a piano, art and expensive furniture - not expecting anything to be damaged, of course. However a very valuable chair was left out in the rain by these movers and sustained water damage. I have never dealt with such an irresponsible company. Their own technicians told them they couldn't handle the staining. We did not cause this irreparable damage. They did. These guys charged me a VERY high rate - more than double what I paid Integrity Movers (which I would highly recommend). Unfortunately, I HAD to work with Moving Right Along (MRA) because they were the only movers that would work with the company that fumigated my belongings after a bedbug infestation in my old building. The experience with the bedbugs was extremely traumatic, but MRA managed to make things a little bit worse. I paid through the nose for packing in addition to moving. When my belongings arrived, I discovered that the movers just threw things in big heaps into boxes, rather than hanging clothes, etc. Not entirely surprising, I guess: Turns out, at least one of the movers drank up an entire, one-liter bottle of my vodka during the move. (It wasn't spillage - I called up the manager to complain, and he told me that the person responsible had done this before and he had been punished. Awesome...) Most of my stuff arrived intact, but the movers literally walked off with one of my belongings - a new weight bench. They asked me if I would like it to be put "in storage." I told them: "Yes, I have a storage locker on the second floor. Put it there." They claim that they thought that I wanted it put back in storage at their facility. Anyway, turns out it didn't matter: After calling the manager to ask where it was, they said it was lost, and to file a claim with my insurance (which paid me a fraction of what it was worth). You would think that the high prices would get you good, if not great service at MRA. What you get for the extra money is a polite, native English speaker answering the phone, who is very sympathetic when you call about the poor service and your missing stuff. read more

We used these guys for a move from a bedbug-infested apartment to a fumigation warehouse to our new apartment. The movers were professional, helpful, efficient, and had great attitudes and work ethic. We had a few bumps getting a proper estimate at first but they finally sent an on-site estimator and he was able to give me advice on how to save money and do some of the packing ourselves. We came in very close to the estimate, and the reason we went over a bit was because we didn't do as much of the packing as we had planned. But even with that, it was VERY close and I was not upset that I ended up paying a little bit more than I had planned. There were a few issues that motivated a 4-star review instead of 5-stars: 1) they didn't label the boxes very well. It made it very difficult to unpack. 2) I gave the foreman a 20% tip in cash at the end, and he counted it in front of me and then announced the amount to the guys. Even though it was a good tip and I wasn't embarrassed by it, it was still kind of awkward. 3) When taking apart our furniture with shelves, they packed the hardware and taped it to the furniture so that we could easily put it back together. That was helpful; but unfortunately they didn't do that for every piece of furniture. I have a kitchen cart that now has a rickety shelf because I couldn't find the pegs that hold it up. But all in all, I am very pleased with MRA's work and would recommend them and use them again! read more

Pretty disappointing experience using Moving Right Along. Things started off well -- the company came recommended by two different people and we were feeling confident. We were dealing with a lousy situation -- discovered bed bugs in our apartment the day we were supposed to move. We called Moving Right Along to schedule a fumigation and move. Timothy was super helpful and alleviated a lot of my concerns. We were able to schedule a move ASAP and I felt relieved. A few days later, after endless packing, I called Moving Right Along just before the movers were scheduled to arrive to discuss storing everything for a few days before moving it to the new location. During that call, it became clear that the original instructions we had been given for packing were completely misleading. Timothy had told me (in two different phone calls) that we should pack any food or cosmetics, and that anything we wanted properly fumigated shouldn't be SEALED in plastic. However, in this morning-of phone call, I learned that there simply should be ANY plastic packing materials in the boxes. No bubble wrap. No packing peanuts. Not even an unopened garbage bag laid between two layers of stuff. This HAD NOT been made clear. I hadn't wrapped anything in plastic so that it was air tight, but I had used bubble wrap to wrap our many breakables, as ANYONE moving would. I had been careful to wrap things loosely and cut air holes, but that was not enough, since bed bugs can hide in air pockets created by ANY plastic wrapping materials. If you provide a specialty service, you need to make things ABUNDANTLY clear to your customers. "Nothing sealed in plastic" does not equal "no plastic in the boxes at all." The movers showed up right after I got off the phone and we had to tell them that everything was packed incorrectly. We ended up rescheduling (for nearly a WEEK later), because repacking everything while the movers were there would have taken extra hours, and cost us thousands. When I called Timothy to discuss this with him, he was very defensive and unsympathetic. He kept apologizing for the "misunderstanding," but in my view, I had understood him perfectly. What he had said was simply incorrect. The second representative I spoke to (Susan, I believe) was able to explain the rules of packing very clearly in about 3 minutes, so I'm not sure why Timothy couldn't explain things clearly in two separate phone calls (I called him twice to make sure I understood what he was saying). He literally said, "You didn't ask about bubble wrap." I shouldn't have to! To be honest, Moving Right Along should provide very clear literature about how to pack for a fumigation. "Sealed" implies "air tight," it does not mean "no plastic at all." That wasn't the end of it, though. After spending another five days repacking, the movers finally came. The first day went okay, but when the stuff was delivered the next day, one of the movers complained to us, as he and his guys were moving stuff in, that we hadn't tipped enough the day before. We had given a generous tip, and had even researched what to tip movers. We are not stingy, and I found his comment incredibly unprofessional. We felt strong-armed into tipping them more the second day, but I really wish we hadn't, because... .... on top of all this, they also broke and damaged a few of our favorite items. The more I think about it, the more I strongly feel that Moving Right Along should have given us some money back. They aren't cheap, they inconvenienced us HUGELY, and they cost us a lot of money in useless packing supplies. LAME. The past two weeks dealing with bedbugs was incredibly stressful, and on the whole, Moving Right Along just added to that stress. Would not recommend. read more

I used this company to move from an apartment into a storage unit while my new house was being renovated. They were misleading on the pricing and on the day of the move wanted to charged me hundreds of dollars extra for packing material. As I began to take my stuff out of storage I noticed multiple items with damage. Chips in furniture, cracked picture frames, a smashed computer monitor, broken dishes and glasses. What a mess. I would not recommend this company. From what I've found during moving and renovating is that these companies have multiple crews and it's the luck of the draw which one you get.
