Left green onion ginger sauce Right. Chili sauce (not hot)
    Lu W.

Small restaurant that serves an ample entree of chicken. I had the hainan (dark meat) chicken entree and my lunch partner had the fried chicken. Both plates were delicious. The plate is served with a cup of broth, rice, pickled vegetables, and your choice of chicken. I would have loved a bit more of the pickled vegetables. The menu is limited, but we came specially for the chicken. We were acknowledged immediately upon entering the restaurant and service was good. The sauces served with the chicken were delicious and the green onion-ginger sauce brought back fond memories. We each took 1/2 of our plate home ! We found street parking in front of the restaurant. We will be back! PS photos were taken after we started eating

There's just something so comforting about Hainan chicken. Simple but done so well here! Ordered 1 of their Hainan chicken with half white meat and half dark. We also got an order of their fried chicken. Both came with a small cabbage salad and chicken rice and a small cup of broth. What really sets this spot a part is the sauces. I love their ginger scallion that comes with the hainan chicken. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is a no frills kinda spot. Food served on a Dixie paper plate but that they lack in frills they make up for in flavor.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I love the Hainan chicken here. Chicken is always soft and juicy. I mostly order take out. Occasionally I dine in. There are options to get white or dark meat . I love to get dark meat because it is more juicy. Good portions ! Just one order and I always have leftover for another meal. Service is good and fast....nothing special. [[HIGHLIGHT]]For dine in, sometimes the tables are not that clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It may be only one server most of the time. I prefer to get take out. Street parking

My go to place for hainan chicken. Chicken is tender and flavorful with the best scallion sauce. The rice was super savory. This place can't be beat for comforting chicken and rice. The peanuts and cucumber salad must try items.

We came on Mother's Day and ordered the Combo B, which came with chicken, rice, peanuts, bone broth, and green beans. We added an order of honey wings for our party of 6. Everything was delicious. The tender, juicy chicken came with ginger scallion oil and sweet chilli sauce. We loved the bone broth. It was yummy without any MSG! We had a person with a peanut allergy in our group and the waiter was very informative about the oils that were used to fry the peanuts and the green beans, which I really appreciated! Service was excellent where the waiter was so attentive and predicted our needs, even before we asked! A great dining experience! $73.75 to feed a family of 6 with enough leftovers for lunch for one person.

The menu is short, understandably built around the standout hainan chicken. Delicious food and great bang for your buck.

We went to Cluck2Go in Pasadena (right across PCC) after we went to the Rose Bowl Flea Market yesterday. We were craving the Hainan chicken. When we walked in, all the tables were taken, so we sat on the barstool where we were all facing the wall. We ordered the Combo B (serves 4-5 people), which included one whole chicken, stir-fry string beans, spicy cucumber salad, fried peanuts, chicken soup (large), and 4 chicken rice. The price has gone up to $50.75. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place looked outdated on this visit, and they should do some remodeling work because a big section of the ceiling was peeling off.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Anyhow, the staff were friendly and they asked us if we wanted to change to another table because some customers had already left. They helped us move all the food to the other table. We liked their fried peanuts so much. They were very flavorful and addictive. The stir-fry string beans were also delicious. The spicy cucumber salad was a bit too spicy for me, and I wish it were fresh & crunchy. The chicken rice was dry and not soft, and not flavorful enough. The chicken meat was tender; however, some chicken meat, such as the white meat, was a bit dry. We've had better Hainan Chicken at the other place, so we were a little disappointed this time.

Stopped here on a whim because I was next door thrifting and got hungry. It's great if you have a toddler! She loved the chicken broth and the dark meat chicken. It's very juicy and flavorful even without any sauces. I removed a star because it's being served on paper plates and cups...and the staff barely spoke english but the chicken and rice is delicious and authentic. Would come back here for a quick meal when i'm in pasadena again.

So happy this is near me. Great place to get a quick meal, relatively healthy! I like to get Combo A, even as a solo person. I can break it up into 3 or 4 meals. Their sauces are both so delicious. The broth is solid and soothing, my favorite to get when sick. Chicken is great! Service has always been fast and courteous. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The inside of the restaurant is cute and simple. Just a few tables.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Hainan Chicken Rice half white and half dark

I did a grubhub pickup order and appreciated the package. It came in like a lunchbox along with chicken broth. The portion is so big I got to split it onto two. They had the option to have half dark and white meat which were both good. The hainan chicken was well executed, came out juicy. I just wish the rice was more flavorful as I was expecting it to also be tasty. So with every bite of the rice, I also put some broth. The green and orange sauce were both gingery with the orange sauce having a little kick of spice. I'd be happy to go again for a Hainan chicken fix. Plenty of street parking during the day.

Ive always passed by this restaurant and was curious about it. Ive also ordered multiple times through grubhub, but never dined in. Location isn't hard to find, but the name Cluck2Go was hard to see. All I saw was Hainan Chicken in big letters on the storefront and the actual name was small and on the smaller sign. Parking is street, but there is parking in the back alleyway. I parked on the street. Please read the signs because pasadena is really strict on parking enforcement. [[HIGHLIGHT]]On the inside, they have a bar top with some chairs to sit and eat. They also have 3 four top tables and 2 two top tables. Its a small set up, but its pretty roomy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They have a gender neutral bathroom and a self serve water set up. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was also very clean and well kept![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] You order first and pay afterwards. They bring your order to you and clean up afterwards. I got their dark chicken Hainan chicken and rice. I am not a fan of the pickled veggies so I asked them to put it on the side. Im rating this experience a 4.5 because they did end up putting some veggies on my plate. I tasted the pickled vinegar in my rice and chicken. It was in a small section, so I didnt mention anything. They used regular Dixie-esque paper plates to serve our meals in. It was a very large heaping scoop of rice and they put the ginger and chilis in plastic cups with your meal. My friend said it was spicy! But it was good. Our meals also came with a cup of chicken broth, so he used that to try and calm down the spice level - didnt work. I also ordered their calming chrysanthemum tea. I wished it was colder, but they were nice enough to provide me with some ice on the side for me to add it into my cup. Dining in was nice, but trying to find parking on the street is tough.

Fried Hainan Chicken Rice. Tender chicken, nice crispy batter, very tasty even without the sweet chili sauce.
    J S.

I don't typically get Hainan Chicken bc I don't like the flavor of ginger. Good thing they have a fried chicken option which is really tasty. No ginger taste on the chicken itself, the sweet chili sauce does have a light hint of ginger. Didn't need much of the sauce as the chicken itself is already really flavorful on its own. Nice crispy batter, pretty good portions. And yes, the poached chicken is pretty tender when fried as well.. The string beans were great as well with nice crispy garlic bits. Would go again!

The pastor at my church took us here to break bread as this is his top spot for Hainan chicken. I told him I really like savoy and he thinks this place is way better so here we are. The members at our church are troopers as this restaurant was 30+ min away from church and there were 11 of us. There are street parking and should be enough if people can park correctly but of course a few had to take up two spots and I ended up parking across the street. There's a sign that says one hour parking but does not pertain to Sundays...yay! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place itself is quit small but praise GOD there were no one here when we arrived so we were able to fit everyone here.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Instead of being able to order at the front, the waiter made us wait so he can take our order at the table as he stated we are all sitting together. Also means we can only split two bills instead of paying individually. SMH. I was going to give them 3 stars for this but the guy more then made it up with his spectacular service. He started off with getting all of us water and then kept refilling our sauce! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The store could use some remodeling as a big part of the ceiling is peeling off.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] On to the food. I ordered combo A as it's 1/2 chicken compared to individual order which is 1/4 chicken according to the waiter but when comparing side by side we felt the individual order is more then a 1/4 but less then 1/2. Combo A is $2 more but you get fried peanuts and spicy cucumber salad and that's why I ordered that instead but after comparing, I would def order the individual size instead to get more Hainan chicken. The chicken is comparable to savoys but their green onion sauce is out of this world!!! So good! The rice is a bit on the harder side for me but with the green sauce over it, it just made everything taste good lol. The peanuts is good but I'm not really into mala and the cucumber salad is refreshing w a spicy kick. It also comes w chicken broth which was surprisingly healthy tasting. We were expecting msg but nope just light broth. Overall: this place is a bit far from where I live but if I'm ever in the area, I wouldn't mind coming back as the price was very reasonable and service was excellent and the green sauce was so good! [[HIGHLIGHT]]3.5 stars because of the poor store condition. If they fix their ceiling this would be a solid 4 stars![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I was planning to stop here couple days ago but couldn't find parking. Where can I park?

I always just park right in front or across the street on Colorado. There’s usually space even during rush hour. Park run and pick my stuff up run out. The place is so fast. Everything’s always ready to go delicious chicken BTW.

Will they do boneless and/or skinless hainanese chicken rice if asked?

Do you no longer include the sauces for Hainan chicken rice? I ordered three orders through UberEats, and no sauce was included. Do we have to order them separately and pay extra for the sauce? The photo in the menu shows two sauces as part of it.

Do they include the soup in takeout?

    Yes

Do they no longer include the chicken soup with the regular orders? Mine didn't come with today.

Hello Mathew, we are temporarily unable to provide soup to our Hainan chicken rice dishes because there is a shortage in all paper soup cups right now, we have not been able to get any shipments of 8oz paper cups for the last two months and for the…

Did they get rid of the noodle soup?

yes and the curry ! back to savoy i guess

I understand the delivery fee, but what is the added $6+ service fee for?

Dine-In Last Time. Sorry Don't Know Abt Delivery.

Do they use cage free chicken, free range, organic?

    Hahaha, I highly doubt it.

    Are you gluten free?

Rice is gluten free and you can always not order the fried chicken

    Do they have brown rice?

No, but they make a chicken flavored rice that is cooked in chicken broth. It's really good.

My honest thoughts on everything I tried: Green Onion Pancake- Crispy exterior with a soft doughy center. Not overly salty! Really enjoyed this as a side dish, but the vinegar sauce it came with.... did not go well with it at all. Maybe I just wasn't used to it since it doesn't traditionally come with that type of dipping sauce. Not the best green onion pancake I've had, but still solid! 8/10 Cucumbers & Tofu- Very refreshing cucumber! I liked how they used hard tofu. Very unique blend of textures and with tart and spicy flavors. However, doesn't stand out to me. 7/10 Beef Noodles- for the price, the portion was extremely small. Noodles were chewy and thick, which I liked. Beef slices were not as tender as I wanted it to be. However, I did like how they paired it with baby bok choy. It was decent, but did it blow my mind? Absolutely not. 7/10 You order at the cashier and seat yourself with a table number card. Interior was spacious and open. Lots of indoor seating. Water is self serve. Parking available in rear or on the street. Overall, underwhelming in my humble opinion.

Some of my favorites are the beef rolls, spicy wontons, green onion pancake, chow fun, orange chicken, and chow mein noodles. The noodles are especially good and, importantly, not overly greasy or oily, which can sometimes be an issue at other places. The prices are also competitive, especially considering the portions and quality of the food. It is the kind of place where you can order a good spread, share a bunch of dishes, and feel like you got a solid meal for the money. I also love that they bring out sugared peanuts when you sit down. It is a small touch, but a really nice one. The restaurant has plenty of seating, though service can be a bit slow at times, so good luck flagging down a waiter when it gets busy. He demanded we drive 30 minutes back just to return the noodles for a refund, defensively asking, "What else do you expect me to give you?" When we tried to reason with him and reminded him of our 20-year loyalty, Phil literally said, "That's not my problem," and "I don't care." Everyone knows that businesses are struggling in this economy, and a manager with this kind of attitude is definitely not making things any better for the restaurant. It makes zero sense to treat a 20-year regular like a scammer over a side of noodles. Phil's horrific attitude and total lack of accountability just cost them a lifelong customer. Avoid this location.

Overview: convenient kiosk ordering, tough parking, delicious dim sum…read more ---- We decided to order some dim sum to-go and got the classic offerings of siu mai, har gow, cheung fun, chicken feet, pan fried turnip cake, ginger beef tripe, black bean pork short ribs, and egg tarts. Everything, and I mean everything, was so delicious. One of the best dim sum places I've been to. The pricing of the items ranged from $8-$10 per item we ordered which is expensive but as a treat every once in a while and for the amount of time and effort that goes into making dim sum, it was worth it. I've tried making dim sum at home and it is so hard! Pricing breakdown: $8 items: - har gow (4 pcs) - siu mai (4 pcs) - black bean spare rib - pan fried turnip cake - egg custard $9 items: - chicken feet $10 items: - shrimp rice noodle roll I think they no longer have the tripe on their menu anymore bc I couldn't find it on their online ordering. Also their chili oil was priced at $0.98, which was kind of small, I would do without it next time. ---- The parking was really tough, luckily I had another person with me drop me off then I ordered and then we double parked waiting for it to be finished. The inside of the restaurant felt like an elevated dim sum place, things were neat and a darker ambiance which felt more intimate if you decided to eat in. We took ours to-go and it was still so good! ---- Overall: if I'm ever back in Pasadena I'll be sure to stop by for dim sum, classic dishes with an elevated taste, pricey but worth it

Perfect family dim sum experience for us…read more We took out my parents and in-laws for dim sum: my parents' very first time ever. We did wait about an hour, but honestly I didn't mind at all because it gave us a chance to relax, talk, and catch up as a family. Once we were seated, my parents were immediately impressed with the decor: elegant and cultural without feeling overly modern or cold. And can we talk about the tea kettles? They looked like literal pieces of art being poured at the table. Ordering was super easy with the QR code system, so my husband handled the whole spread: shumai dumplings, chicken feet, sesame balls, and more. Everything came out hot, fresh, and beautifully plated. The ENTIRE table agreed on one thing: the chili oil condiment deserves to be sold in bottles to take home. It was that good. Smoky, just the right amount of spicy, and addictive. Now for the real test: my in-laws. They've been to *many* dim sum places and are not easily impressed. They declared this place to have the best chicken feet that they've ever had: meat easily sucked off the bone, melt-in-your-mouth tender, and perfectly seasoned. High praise coming from dim sum veterans. Most importantly, my parents' first dim sum experience couldn't have been better. They loved everything from the ambiance to the food to the overall experience. My husband and I want to come back to explore more of the menu because there's clearly so much more to try

The service is consistently great... attentive, efficient, and genuinely welcoming. Fair warning for anyone new to Sichuan cuisine, the dominant flavor is "spicy". That said, the dishes are not just about heat... they're layered, aromatic, and incredibly well-balanced. Every dish I've tried has been outstanding, both in flavor and presentation. If you're a fan of bold, authentic flavors and reliable service, this spot is definitely worth visiting. Tip - If you're new to the cuisine, I strongly recommend getting everything MILD spicy. I've been told by some of my colleagues that MILD spicy is still pretty spicy, so be warned. With that said, strongly recommend the dishes below. Lamb with Cumin 11/10 - My favorite dish here by far. Aromatic, flavorful, and the spices are just on point. Dan Dan Noodles 9/10 - Solid and consistently good. The sauce is properly seasoned and truly compliments the perfectly cooked noodles. Shredded Cabbage with Pork 9/10 - Not to be confused with twice cooked pork. This dish is so simple and bland looking, but it's packed with flavor... so good! Garlic Pork Belly 8/10 - This is a cold dish. The meat was perfectly cooked and properly coated in chili oil. Solid and consistently good. Kung Pao Chicken 8/10 - In my opinion, it's an elevated Kung Pao Chicken. Solid and consistently good.

Had an absolutely wonderful dining experience at Panda Inn Pasadena. This visit felt especially…read morememorable because several of the dishes were privately customized for us, which made the whole dinner feel much more personal and special. One of the highlights was the lobster with uni and tofu. The presentation was beautiful, and the combination was surprisingly elegant -- the lobster was tender and fresh, the uni added a rich, creamy sweetness, and the tofu helped balance everything nicely. I also really enjoyed the candied eggplant. It had a great contrast of textures and a slightly sweet, caramelized flavor that made it very addictive. The braised sea cucumber with beef tendon was another standout. Both the sea cucumber and tendon were cooked until tender and soaked up the savory sauce beautifully. We also had fresh uni and eel, and everything was presented with a lot of attention to detail. The ingredients tasted fresh, the flavors were well balanced, and the entire meal felt thoughtfully prepared rather than simply being about presentation. Service throughout the evening was excellent as well. Everyone was attentive and made us feel very well taken care of. I've been to Panda Inn before, but this customized dinner was truly a different experience. Beautiful presentation, thoughtful dishes, and a very memorable evening. Definitely one of my favorite dining experiences in Pasadena. This is the kind of meal that reminds me why I enjoy discovering special dining experiences in Pasadena!

Overall we enjoyed our meal and experience and would totally come back to try other dishes…read more Food - everything was fresh tasting. Lobster: we enjoyed the Colette special sauce, it was aromatic with the basil, good level of spice, and lobster meat was cooked perfect. Salt and pepper calamari: great crunch, wish it had a little more salt & pepper & garlic seasoning most pieces weren't coated, but the calamari texture had the perfect chew. Crispy vermicelli with beef: loved the crispy noodles and soft beef stir fry textures together, definitely ask for chili oil with this dish, it needs that extra umph of flavor for the noodles. Salted egg yolk pumpkin: I normally love this dish, only wished the outside was crispier, got soggy fast and with how thick these are cut you want the crispy exterior, but flavor was good. Only thing that made me feel a bit "eh" was the chipped plateware they have and continue to use. Service - wonderful! Everyone was so friendly and had nice customer service. They even helped recommend dishes and also share opinions on what we shouldn't order which I loved. Parking - free parking lot! There are a few spaces right in front of the restaurant. But around the side there's more parking as well.
