My wife loves Hainan Chicken, so this is the place I go to please her palate. Upon coming home, our grandson was at our house after daycare, so I wanted to feed him the Hainan Chicken to see if he shares the same likes as my wife. I was surprized that he really enjoyed the food and liked the green ginger too! Although not a picky eater, he certainly had a good appetite after a long day playing and learning at the daycare facility. I would enjoy more occasions like this to see him for dinner and enjoy his company. As for the restaurant, the service is relatively fast and the food was prepared fresh. I would certainly consider visiting this location more, as Hainan Chicken never gets old in our household! read more

Cluck2Go has THE best Hainan Chicken in the area. I drive about 15-20 minutes just for their Hainan Chicken. We usually get the Combo A and it's definitely enough food for two hungry people. With the small eating area, I wish they served everything in anything other than paper plates and containers. I think it's just a waste, but we didn't come here for the cutlery. As you can see, the Combo A comes with everything you see, including two big containers of rice and chicken broth. We always get dark meat and it is delicious. They offer the green and red sauce, but we just love the green sauce of oil, ginger, scallions and salt. My favorite part of this meal is combining the peanuts with each bite. They mix the peanuts with red pepper flakes, fried garlic, salt, pepper, sugar and their secret ingredient that makes your mouth literally tingle...prickly ash oil. There are other menu items, but the Hainan Chicken is what they are famous for... I just love this place and wish it was open later some days when I just need to scratch that itch. I recently placed a to-go order with a friend and accidentally entered a $0.05 tip instead of $5 during checkout without realizing it. After the transaction, a staff member pointed out the small tip and asked if I would be willing to run another transaction to correct it. While I understand it may have looked like an oversight and I appreciated them bringing it to my attention the way it was addressed felt a bit uncomfortable. I believe most guests would prefer not to be directly confronted about tipping, especially in front of others. That said, the food and service were good, and I know mistakes can happen on both sides. It's next to a game store that I frequent. It's a quick and commercialized version of traditional Hainan Chicken Rice. We order from here consistently because their Hainan chicken (A+) is that good. It's tender, flavorful, and juicy. They also are not stingy about my favorite green onion sauce like other places. When people are in town, we always order the family pack here either combo A or B and it's always a hit. Parking can be found on the street easily but try to go anytime before 4:30pm if you can. Servers are all delightful and easy to speak with. Place is clean and well kept. read more

Great casual spot for Hainan Chicken! I had seen the Rowland Heights location before and finally tried this location in Pasadena. Cluck2go reminds me of Taishi Hainan Chicken in Redondo Beach which I used to frequent often but the sauces here are more Chinese flavor profiles versus Taishi. We tried the fried, dark and white meat chickens. The white meat was dry but others were good. All chicken are boneless. As for the sides, the peanuts are really good with a hint of sweetness and the cucumbers are not that spicy. Also got the sesame fried chicken wings to go so I still need to try them. The fried chicken only comes with the red sauce but got to try the green sauce with the steamed chickens. Both are good as you can taste the ginger in them. After eating, I noticed that they didn't give us the dark soy sauce dipping sauce but maybe the soy sauce on the table is all it is -- which was empy so I didn't use any? And... I don't think they have a parking lot in the back so we parked on a side street. I wish they would use non-diaposable plates and cups for dine in but I know they get a lot of to go orders and dishwashers cost money. read more

As a Singaporean, I'd say that the chicken rice here is legit. Definitely better than savoy. The rice here is flavorful and the chicken juicy and tender. The ginger and hot sauce is great too. The only thing missing from an authentic experience is the dark soy sauce for the rice and the light sesame soy sauce for the chicken. This beats savoy hands down. Will definitely return again when I'm craving some good chicken rice. read more

I love my hainan chicken. This spot does it well & is great for to go. The sauces are so good & a must for every bite. My favorite is the sweet soy sauce. I ordered the meal for two which includes 2 rice, 2 chicken portions, cucumber, peanuts, soup and sauces for under $40. So worth it! EconomicalGenerous portionsA savior for broke students One day, I suddenly craved for Hainanese Chicken Rice. I found this Hainanese Chicken Rice restaurant located in Pasadena, and although the space was small, it was packed with customers. I ordered one serving of dark & white meat Hainanese Chicken Rice and another serving with all dark meat. The chicken-flavored rice was not only incredibly flavorful but also came in an extremely generous portion. In the end, I couldn't finish all the rice as there was just so much of it! The amount of chicken they served was also quite generous. Personally, I preferred the all dark meat option because the chicken was more tender. While the white meat wasn't too dry or tough, there was still a noticeable difference when eaten together with dark meat . The complimentary sauce they provided was the perfect complement to the meal - tangy, sweet, and spicy - it went amazingly well with the chicken and rice. Even though their tableware wasn't fancy, the quality and quantity of the food left me satisfied . I'll definitely return to this Hainanese Chicken Rice restaurant . read more

I'm thrilled to have a Cluck2Go nearby; it's hands down one of my favorite Hainan Chicken spots! I've had the pleasure of trying both the dark and white meat, and my recommendation is to go for the dark meat. The chicken is completely deboned, and the rice is cooked with chicken broth! Plus, they serve it with pickled veggies and a side of chicken broth, making it a real bang for your buck. Sure, it's not the fanciest joint and a tad small, but honestly, the real draw here is the scrumptious Hainan chicken--that's what brings people in! I ordered the combo A with dark chicken for dinner. The combo is a really good deal for two people. My order came with two bowls of rice, two bowls of chicken soup, 1 bowl of spicy cucumber, and 1 bowl of peanut. The chicken was soft and nicely sliced into bite sizes. The rice was soft and flavorful. I like that I could taste the chicken in the chicken soup. The cucumber pieces were seasoned with just right amount and not too spicy. I also got the chrysanthemum tea and it was really refreshing. There is one restroom in the back. Plenty of seating inside. It gets busy and crowded during peak meal time. Came here around 5 pm right before the dinner rush. The food came out pretty quick. I got Combo A which comes with a soup, half chicken, rice, garlic peanuts, spicy cucumber. The chicken also comes with some pickled veggies, and two sauces. This combo is for 2 people and we were full after we were done. This combo is nice because you get the peanuts and cucumbers as a bonus for sharing with someone else. The soup has a very hearty flavor. The rice is pillowy soft. We got the dark meat chicken which was really tender and flavorful. Add on your favorite sauce and it's packed with flavor. The spicy cucumber was nice and crispy. Cluck2Go is known for their Hainan chicken over rice. What I like most here is the fried Hainan chicken, and in fact I think me and my dad ate here for Easter one year haha. Fried hainan chicken is not as common as regular hainan chicken so if you have not tried it before I recommend you do! The restaurant is very popular among college students in the area and is doing good business in a space that hasn't always been easy to survive as a restaurant (I believe it used to be a frozen yogurt place and a Filipino place and a pizza place before). read more

OMG!! This place is absolutely amazing! We went today (4/13/25), and I 1000% recommend it! I'll admit, I was a little hesitant at first--I'm super picky when it comes to Hainanese chicken, especially after having some of the best back when I lived in Asia. But wow... this place seriously delivered! The server was kind, helpful, and very well-mannered. The food? Incredible. The soup was so flavorful, and the sauces were spot on--each one added the perfect kick. Everything was seasoned just right and tasted authentic and comforting. We ordered one fried, one mix, and one all dark meat--and let me tell you, we devoured everything within minutes after a long day at the flee market, so no photos this time (sorry, not sorry)! I really want to rate this 5 stars. But I've had Hainan chicken rice from SF bay area that was better. So I can only rate this 4 stars. Having said that, that best Hainan chicken rice I've had very delicious chicken rice and Cluck2go's rice is much harder. Chicken wise, I think cluck2go is better. Chicken is very tender and soft. since COVID I've only ordered takeout/delivery here. Still my go-to Hainan chicken place in town. I finally went back to eat-in recently, and none of the previous problems were there. Actually, quite a good experience. Food still solid. My group ordered comboB which was plenty of food for 4, easily feed 5 if you're not super hungry. You get "1 chicken worth of meat" as opposed to a whole chicken. They ask you if you want white/dark/both and its the same cost no matter what you pick. You get 4 chicken rices, 4 cups of soup (broth with a bit of garnish only, which is how it should be), a sautéed green beans dish (good), cucumber salad (also good), garlic peanuts (great),4 green and 4 red sauces, 2 sides of pickles, and of course the chicken. Everything is served in takeout containers, and sweet soy sauce is on the table. The place is still small but clean, service was friendly and quick, and there's street parking free out front. Service is much improved from my previous visit years ago. Pricing is very reasonable too, can't complain really. Happy to give them 5/5 now. Ive had it in several places around town and they're the only ones to deliver the whole package, consistent, tasty, and good value. If I had to nitpick, their green sauce could use more scallion but its still good. Not quite the Hainan chicken rice from Singapore, my benchmark, but about as good as it gets around here. This is not fine dining, or even fast casual. Its more of a takeout spot that has some seating, barely more than a counter-service place. so given all that, its great for what it is. read more

So good! There are plenty of hainan chicken places much closer to me than this one so I never go to try it until I was recently in the area and this one totally stands up to some of the best! The interior of this restaurant is very mom and pop-- nothing fancy and quite small, but the chicken, rice, and sauces are all excellent! For some reason, they don't include one of three sauces, the sweet soy sauce, in to go orders if you don't ask for it, so that is something to note. Parking - For parking I parked across the street and walked over. If I remember correctly the parking was free. There are some spots in the area where you have to pay for the meter so be prepared and bring your coins. Hainan Chicken - The whole dish came with a portion of your choice or dark or white meat, soup, picked veggies, rice, and two sauces. The chicken is so tender and has the right amount of salt on it so it's not to overpowering. The rice is so yummy. You can tell that they added a generous amount of chicken fat to it when they cooked it so the rice is more flavorful. The soup was good soup I would say. Let's talk about the sauce though. The orange one is sweet, tangy and a bit spicy. I loved this one a lot. The green one is more savory. It tastes like ginger, green onions and salty. If you dip the chicken in both these sauces and then eat it, it's the best of both worlds. Do they do dine in? - When I went during June, 2022 they had the option to dine in or do take out. The space to dine in is very limited though since the store is on the smaller side. They have about maybe 3-5 tables open for dine in. If you do go dine in though I suggest you go in a smaller group of less than 5. Overall - I would say that this place is fairly good. Came here because it was literally located just a block away from PCC (Pasadena City College). Apparently the owners of Cluck2Go used to own Man Chan Cuisine in Rowland Heights (now converted to a secondary location for Cluck2Go). This is one of three Cluck2Go locations (Pasadena, Rowland Heights, and Arcadia - Diamond Bar location is closed) in LA county. Hainan chicken recipe was originally from Man Chan Cuisine, but the owners went through development and worked on the improved recipe for Cluck2Go. [Parking]: There's a small & free rear parking lot behind the restaurant, but you'll have to walk around the building because there's no back entrance. [Menu]: This small restaurant has simplified their menu since COVID started and only sell Hainan chicken (regular or fried) rice, few appetizers, and selective drinks/desserts now. [Amenities]: The staff was friendly and placed a to-go order. There's no shade outside of the restaurant and it is an indoor dining space only. I eventually just stood outside for 15 minutes and eventually got my order. *** Fried Hainan Chicken & Rice (fried Singaporean-style poached chicken and chicken rice. Served with pickled veggie, and sweet chili sauce, $12.99): The combo also came with soup and it was such a savory & killer soup. Our Hainan Chicken is always fresh and never frozen. We pouch the chicken in a flavorful chicken broth and serve it with a bowl of chicken broth rice. The chicken is tender and full of rich flavors.

Established in 2012.

Most people think, the dish Hainan Chicken originated from a province in China called Hainan. Very little people know that Hainan Chicken was actually made popular in Singapore. Our chefs have made it their mission to bring the nostalgia of Singapore to our dish. By using fresh ingredients and fresh young chickens, we have made this combination of white and dark chicken meat accompanied by a bowl of steamed chicken flavored rice sensational. Our dish has won awards from popular food magazine; WacowLA for having the best Voted #1 Hainan Chicken in LA. Many customers from Singapore have also praised us for our authentic tastes. We hope to continue this mission and make this dish a well-known dish throughout America, because we believe that Hainan Chicken is a delicious, simple, but elegant dish that everyone could enjoy on the daily basis.

When we tried to reason with him and reminded him of our 20-year loyalty, Phil literally said, "That's not my problem," and "I don't care." Everyone knows that businesses are struggling in this economy, and a manager with this kind of attitude is definitely not making things any better for the restaurant. It makes zero sense to treat a 20-year regular like a scammer over a side of noodles. Phil's horrific attitude and total lack of accountability just cost them a lifelong customer. Avoid this location.

4.5 stars. Cluck2Go has replaced Savoy as my SGV go-to pickup spot for Hainan Chicken rice. Priced well at $10 a plate, it includes moist chicken, rice (seasoned with chicken broth), pickled veggies and a couple ginger dipping sauces. (Pro tip: ask for the heated soy sauce, it tastes amazing with the rice.) Waits can get long depending on when you go, so definitely call ahead for pickup. For dine-in, it seats around 12-15 only. I've tried a few other dishes here, but b/c they were mostly uninspiring I quickly return to the speciality of the house. After an early appointment we found Cluck2Go by chance! So glad we stopped in because this hai nan chicken is wonderful! We were loyal Savoy Kitchen diners for a long long time but after having Cluck2Go, I had to break things off with Savoy! Although the meal comes on a paper plate, they give you a good serving of chicken and rice. We had the original hai nan chicken as well as the fried hai nan chicken. Both were delicious! My new go to favorite spot for hainan chicken rice. I was a huge fan of Savoy. Still enjoy it there but hands down Cluck2Go chicken is the best in town. Super tender and juicy.
